According to it religion is what you practice in private, you pray in your home and at your place of worship but you can not show your religious identity in public. Like you can't wear a cross or a tika or hijab or a Turban at public places. Example is France. If India starts following secularism as it is intended to be these so called self declared epitome of secularism would be the first people who will start crying.

@@queenv3973 Exactly. The form of secularism adopted in India is a compromise to accommodate the will of all the different people in the country. What I meant in my comment was that in secularism, the constitution (law) will have ultimate power, and that no religion will get any exemption from the law of the country. This is in essence what is being promised in the uniform civil code. So it is not "secularism ka khatma" as said by that person at 11:04. It in fact, reinforces secularism.

But the liberals, left and Congress have always flawed on logic. It's because of the stupidity of them that we dont have an effective opposition in the country. They were talking of Intolerance then what was emergency? They talk of secularism and constitutional values. The term was inserted by 42nd Amendment. So which values the 1950 one or the amended ones? UCC was desired for India by the makers of the constitution under article 44. So who is undermining constitutional value by going against UCC? Same with prohibition of cattle slaughter. It's kind of ironic that these people want to protect religions that were born outside India by sidelining the ones that were born in India!

That is the reason when we were in the over whelming majority, we were ok with being secular even after being ruled and oppressed for 1000 years from 1191 AD till 1947. We didn’t ask for Hindu republic even after losing 30% of land mass on religious basis. Hindus practised sati, untouchability till 50!years ago. You don’t see sati anymore . Untouchability has been compensated by providing reservations. I accept that still there is so much to change but we kept moving forward . Cant be said the same about the religion in discussion. I don’t even have to mention the name. Tell me one thing that is progressive , make chauvinism, divorce , dressing ,education system , killing people in the name of religion , u name it .

Sir, you missed one important thing, the UCC as you said was basic priority during transfer of power by UK to India. And as you said, it's complicated, and Hence Dr Ambedkar tried to make Hindu Society Better incl Jain's Sikhs Buddhists by drafting Hindu Code Bill, opposed by Hindu mahasabha, and Nehru tried to dilute it, and Dr Ambedkar resigned, and Nehru divided the bill into 4 parts

"Seculars", "liberals" and "intellectuals" who talk about "Article 14" day in day out keep contradicting themselves. True equality will come only if laws are made for "Indians" not on religion basis. Post partition, some relaxation to minorities made some sense for allowing them time to adjust to "new independent India" without threat and give them time to assimilate with the majority. But over a period of time, when these very laws (370, personal laws, minority commission), were politicised a sense of "separate identity" became stronger instead of the sense of "co-existence. When BJP points out at such things, it is called "communal". But BJP is just the "effect" not the "cause" of identity politics. When all parties started practicing Congresses successful "muslim identity politics" for votes, BJP found its scope in counter consolidation. Muslims standard of life has only downgraded since 1947 because Congress could not gather courage to make them progressive. If "secular" parties genuinely did "secular" politics, BJP would not have gotten a chance. In 21st century, need to move on as "Indians" to counter 21st century issues and not remain stuck past in time to handle issues of 1947.

I have two questions about how the following two practices would be treated/handled if & when UCC is implemented: A.) Among Tamilian Hindus, a common practice is marriage between uncle (mama, mother’s brother) and niece (bhagni, sister’s daughter). Will this be abolished or will this be made valid across all sections of Hindus and among other religions too? B.) In Islam, a common practice is marriage among first cousins (brother A’s son/daughter can marry brother B’s daughter/son. Will this be abolished or made legally valid for all religions?

Indian constitution respects and protects the individuals customs and beliefs like India has many customs and rituals and beliefs so on.. Indian constitution protects them all and provide the separate space for family law.. The duty of men to protect and earn, the mother can do the baby care sitting at home simple. If 4 women can live under one roof and don't be jealous of each others child and don't be jealous of his husbands sex with another woman then men can also do the same. In polygamy - a woman can never know if her husband loves her more or the other wives, similary In polyandry - a man should not know if his wife loves his baby more or not. In fact it will bring more equality among those children coz no one knows who is whose child and jealousy will be not there. Even the mother herself won't know which child is of which husband so she can't be biased towards just one husbands child.

It is illogical argument that UCC is not necessary because population lacks homogeneity at present😂 As there is no need for UCC if there was homogeneity present. UCC is needed just to counter the chaos caused by personal laws of different ethnic groups.

UCC should be in India but not in raw stage, like BJP's some" 8oclock " projects. It should be thoroughly prepared and honestly brainstormed it's pros and cons. Also everyone should support population control bill , but again not under some political gimmick, all the politicians should support it for the sake of our country.

Population control bill must be applicable only to non-Southern states as population in the southern states is already below the replacement level of 2.1. Usually depends under which Act you got your marriage registered. e.g Hindu Marriage Act, Special Marriage Act etc. This would cover inheritance, divorce etc
