Thank you for the reminder that even though the conditions in my body are damaged in ways that seem for me to distract me from my mantra that those distractions are too part of the prosses. Also thanks for reminding me to use my mantra gently. I have been lately screaming it in my head in an effort to drown out thoughts and physical conditions. You have been very helpful. Thanks again. peace.

Thank you. I've been doing TM since March. Started with Zen and shifted a little bit to more of a mindfulness meditation. I almost felt like I "wasn't meditating right" because my body did not have to be in a strict position. I liked when you said that you might reach that place where there is no thought, and it might only last for a second. That seems to be what happens to me. I love this type of meditation. I guess I am hungry for more. Thanks again, your very compassionate.

Latest research on meditation techniques has categorized meditation into 3 modalities, each with a different technique, EEG signature and physiological response.Focused Attention(FA) meditation is concentration, or actively controlling the mind or attention.Open Monitoring (OM) meditation is an active thought process of watching your thoughts and feelings. Mantra Based Auto Self Transcending (AST) is a unique technique that allows your mind to settle down effortlessly to experience transcendental consciousness. Unlike Zen or Mindfulness which are OM & FA meditations, AST mediations like TM are designed to be effortless and have an experience a Self Referral state or a Non Dual experience. Zen's ultimate goal is to also have its practitioner experience a non-dual or Self Referral state , but the technique is very strict and required a-lot of effort and it has been generally reported that it takes many many years before one have a Self Referral state or a Non Dual experience.

To tap into the Transcendental Absolute, Sat-Chit-Ananda, no problem: access "Mahamritunjaya mantra - Sacred Sounds Choir". Listen to it for 5 min per day for at least two weeks. You'll "transcend", experiencing Samadhi/Satori for varying lengths of time, depending on your prior development.

TM just makes me think TradeMarked meditation. Rich men trying to capitalize on a meditation many people do naturally.

TM & VM both fall under the same type of meditation category. Mantra - Based Auto Self Transcending. The founder of Vedic Meditation Thom Knowles's guru was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who is also the founder of the TM technique.

Vedic Meditation is a system of isometric exercises to understand how the tone of our muscular system controls what we think and do. There is absolutely no scope for mantras in it.
