just to clarify, your example of 40mm and 45mm offset. The 45mm offset will bring the wheel back in (towards the suspension). Whereas if I choose a 35mm offset, that will push the wheel out towards road verus the 40mm?

Right! A +35 offset will push your wheel out more than a +40. The higher the offsets the more sunk in your wheels will be hope this helps man 🤟

Offset isn't the sole determinent of potential suspension damage. But if you're looking to remain with stock components, we'd recommend under 10-12 mm in either direction.

Here's something to help some people that need some help I have an 86 RX7 FC with a factory body with 1 inch Fender roll all the way around 18 by 9.5 up front with a + 20 offset with a 235 40-18 and then an 18 x 10.5the back of the + 20 offset 265 35-18 and it does not rub it all

I have a set of old 2014 Jetta winters tires sitting around which are 17*7 on 225/45R/17 with offset of 54mm... not sure if these will fit without rubbing any suspension/brakes etc? Hi, I have a factory steel wheel size of 16x6.5 with offset 45mm. I would like to replace the steel with with alloy wheel size of 16x6.5 with offset 40mm. When I installed alloy rims to the car, I hear noise but not with original wheels from factory. In addition, the center cap is not stayed due to the center hub is long to hit the back of the cap and it just pops out. Is this caused by offset difference? If so, applying 5 mm adaptor will solve this issue?

Still hard to find the perfect fit with no poke on a stock height 2018 STI, every fitment for 18x9.5+38 all have poke which is not flush to guard. Is the offset causing the tyre/wheel to poke out rather than flush?

Offset is crucial for suspension geometry setup for proper tire grip with regards to bump steer and Ackerman angle.

Offset doesn't compromise suspension much, but yes, the lower the offset ism the farther it sticks out. You can buy spacers or you can get them built deeper

I have a 2018 Accord lowered on Eibach Pro Springs which is a .8 drop. You will definitely have to roll fenders. May have to camber a bit as well. It definitely will depend on what size tires you run as well
