When people say 'I still went with it because I'm not that shallow', if you walk away from a date because someone literally lied about their appearance, I think you have grounds to just ditch. First date and you can't be honest you or your date? You're not ready for a relationship.
@jasminelav.3323 жыл бұрын
It's better to just be shallow. If you aren't attracted to someone when you meet them irl, that's unlikely to change anytime soon (if ever). At that point you're just stringing them along and wasting both your time.
@Its_sabribri2 жыл бұрын
And honestly if they’re lying about their looks it probably means that they’re shallow people with a gross personality. If a person is confident in who they are they won’t feel it necessary to lie about who they are
@periwinkle11362 жыл бұрын
If they're lying about their looks then they have shown that they are a dishonest person, chances are they're gonna or already had lied about other stuff. Heck, I'm into fat chicks, but if it a girl doesn't match her online pfp then I'm out.

I was lied to like that and the guy came to my house. He basically raped me and the next morning I lied about having to make him leave because I needed to work. He threw a hissy fit by peeling out of the dirt driveway. Such an ass.

I will NEVER understand people who talk about their exes while on a date. I mean, I guess they must be really hurt and need to vent, but Jesus, talk to your friends and family about it! I've been a therapist several times to guys who haven't gotten over their exes. I didnt mind, I just made sure that I COMPLETELY dismiss them when they try to pursue me afterwards like they didnt just give ne every detail of their love life.

It's less about whether or not they're talking about their exes and more important HOW they are talking about them. That can be very insightful.

I’m guilty of doing this. I was really heartbroken and 100% still in love with my ex. I was trying to do some hookups to get over her, but I quickly realized that wasn’t going to work when I literally couldn’t go more than 30 minutes without thinking about my ex. Shit hurt man. In retrospect it’s embarrassing but I was just so incredibly broken at the time I couldn’t think straight.

@Jisu Genuinely happy for you and @Bruce Wanker, The Incredible Sulk finding your own happinesses. Still a litle sad to hear the resignation of it though. I've been studying these trends as part of my psychology & tech work, and literally have YT playlists dedicated to how technologies have eroded dating/relationships/civility under the pretense of connecting us. We've probably all heard metaphors like that Tinder game-ifies dating (true), or that social media portrays our best self versus our real self. But really, what it does is give license to indulge in our more shallow, selfish impulses. It makes me appreciate seeing people like yourselves being open and genuine, *especially* with the option to fall back on internet anonymity (youtube). Take a look at the 'intentional communities' in your area, if you haven't encountered them yet. Not everyone involved are on the same wavelength of course, and there's still cliquishness, but i've found it a great way to find genuine, likeminded people :) Including for dating. And there's a lot less ageism than in other more mainstream groups.

I met a guy on craigslist. Dumb I know, I just didn't realize how dumb until we decided to go out to dinner. We had talked for a while and he seemed pretty sane and cool. He came and picked me up. As we were turning into the area where the restaurant was, he turns into the hotel across from it. He got us a hotel room. I was really scared and not sure how to get home, so I let my anxiety get the best of me and followed him into the room. He sat down on the bed and started talking nonstop about his mom. He told me she didn't approve of me and she thought I was a prostitute. He told me he wanted me to cuddle with him on the bed and at this point I was terrified that if I didn't do what he wanted I would legit get murdered. He laid his head on my chest. He wanted me to rub his back and head, while telling him what a good boy he is. He actually wanted me to tell him those exact words. I finally felt comfortable enough about an hour later thinking I could get away if he tried to keep me there to tell him I needed to go home. He took me home, and as I was getting out of the car he told me in a very desperate sounding voice to please not abandon him. Yeah. Never did I ever do anything that stupid again.

Dated a woman for about 2 months. Eventually met some of her family. One day I invite her over to my place for dinner. Dinner goes well; it was the only time I showed her where I live. About two weeks later I hop in my car open the garage and start to head to work. I start work at 5am so when I'm leaving at 4:15am it's very dark outside still. As I start closing my garage with my clicker I start to drive off to work. Garage suddenly starts opening up again after half way from closing. Some guy with a ski mask is in my garage. I call the cops but he jumped a wall to get out of the community so by the time the cops came he's no where to be found. I tell the woman I was dating about. About 1 month after that incident I see the ski mask guy again but this time he's in my back yard. He's holding me gun point. Neighbor luckily saw and called the cops for me. The ski mask guy meanwhile is basing me in the head with the pistol after he told me to turn around. He was trying to get me to black out instead of shooting me so that the noise doesn't alert the neighborhood. I don't black out but bleed out very bad. Cops finally arrive. Turns out that the man was the boyfriend of the woman I was dating but when I had originally met him she introduced him as her cousin.

I think I might actually win this one; I had just started online dating a month or so before, and despite many warm prospects, hadn't felt that spark with anyone upon meeting. I'd had maybe 5 or 6 first dates, all no bueno, when I met this guy for dinner; he was handsome, interesting, + mellow, & we had instant chemistry - the meal took hours for all the grinning at each other & talking. The date ran long. After, I let him walk me to cab-rank, but it was late, early Winter & the rank was bare - against my normal policy, I let him drive me home. I felt so comfortable with him, it didn't seem like a big deal. Then he abducted me. Yeah, that was the end of my online dating.

Dating horror story, met a guy who was a driver for Uber. Met at barns and noble where my date then kept trying to touch me inappropriately the whole time and I kept moving his hands away from my bum and boobs, and I told him he was being disrespectful and that I was at my limit by the second time he did that. It gets worse. We go to lunch which he did pay a whole 7.99 for, we then walk and I have to go to the ladies room, he knew the mall better than I did he misdirected me on purpose to get me alone in a hallway with no camera or witnesses so he could then touch me inappropriately again. So I could not defend myself without his word against mine. This time I was livid I walked away from him, and I was angry. I made him chase me down the stairs of the outdoor mall where people were at and he starts trying to save him self in conversation. “Your a work of art, can’t I admire you?” I said “yes i know I am a work of art but as I am an art historian, you can admire art with your eyes and not your hands. I told you to stop touching me and now you lead somewhere just to do what I did not ask you to do. I would prefer not to have your help anymore while I look for a bathroom.” He then says I know where one is, he lead me to the lobby of a 5 star hotel, where I used the bathroom and told him I had to leave. I made sure to take the sidewalks back to my car and he followed me. I did that so he could not pull me anywhere remotely. He then asked me if I wanted to get in his car so he could drive me to my car. I said no I am good. He then walks me to my car, and stood in the way of me closing my driver door and he was like your leaving me. I said yes I am I have to go home bye. He would not let me close my door ever with my seat belt on. So I put my car in drive and he moved and I never saw him again. I have more stories and the guys I meet are from bumble. I unmatched him and reported him.

Closest to a horror story I have was a handsome older guy I was trying to meet from a gay dating app (Scruff). We spent about a week chatting and finally the day of the date we agreed to meet was here, and my ass waited for him for over an hour to show up, and he never responded. So I went home pissed, and just played video games. The next day he texts me saying he’s so sorry, but he had lost his phone and couldn’t find it anywhere. Ok, I can buy that, but the least he could’ve done was still show up. I gave him a second chance, and it’s the same shit again. The next day I asked him what the hell was up, and he then says that he thinks we’d be better off friends, if that was “cool” with me. I told him thanks for the great waste of my time, that I could’ve used to talk and date someone else, and to royally go fuck himself and blocked his number and profile.

The poor girl who dated that awful Navy guy, she needs to find his CO, that will straighten him up proper! And that guy Justin, who thought his date was a witch? Yeah, I've been asked that same question. I have Heterochromia. Which means I have two different color eyes. One is green, the other blue. I've had otherwise "rational adults" freak out over my eyes and ask me in complete seriousness if I am a witch, a werewolf or a vampire. It gets tedious, so when the witch question comes up, I usually say "Yes! And if you don't stop pestering me, I'm gonna turn you into a frog!" The werewolf question usually gets a full on head thrown back howl out of me. The vampire question just gets a super creepy smile.

i personally think it would be cool to have two different colored eyes. especially if i could do the things you do when asked about them!

I just thought it was a normal mutation having two different colour eyes. Not common but kinda special, cool even. David Bowie had the same (a hero of mine). The freaks who panicked about your eye colour (Jesus, it’s so cringe worthy actually acknowledging the backwards cunts) should honestly see how far they can swim to the next country whilst wearing all the clothes they own. “Witch?” What the actual hell? It’s 2020. Despite religion still being a problem today, I hoped common sense could take place now and then.

Most of my dates have been ok, besides the clear intentions that they're not interested for my personality. As a fat girl I mostly get guys with fetishes and some who clearly aren't in position to be picky lol. However, this guy one time messaged me on the Meet up app which isnt a dating site. We have joined similar groups so I accepted him and started spamming me, sent me thousands of pictures of himself (not naked ones luckily) telling me he's in the army stationed somewhere in the middle east (I am middle eastern so I thought he was trying to connect with me) anyways started messaging me non stop, the way he was talking was a bit odd and got a weird feeling about him. What made me block him is how he kept saying what a great man and good Christian he was. I am also Christian but not religious and I stay away from people like that. Another time I was talking to this cop and I got tired of him cause he was also weird didn't talk to me about anything other than sex which was a turn off so I blocked him from everything, somehow managed to find my whatsapp and told me that i shouldn't hide from a cop cause they can always find people. Can't believe people like that have access to people's personal info and can carry guns. I seriously considered making a "if I die he did it" note. I no longer use dating apps. Will probably never meet anyone cause all my friends are shy and don't go out, the ones thay do are gay and like to hang out with other gay people at gay establishments so anyone new I meet is not attracted to my sex lol #foreveralone

I met a guy on Tinder who ended up being a womanizer so it didn’t work out. We remained sort of friends, talking every now and then. Aside from him being a womanizer and a jerk, I assumed he was an otherwise normal human being. I recently found out he was arrested for sexual assault against a family member. I’ve been to therapy 3 times in the last week since I found out. 🤮

I once explicitly told someone I met on tinder that I didn’t want to hook up but I’d come hang out with him and chill in his hot tub, and when I got there he insisted that I would be lucky to sleep with him because he was a personal trainer and coochie should fall at his feet. He was so offended when I turned all his advances down that he made me walk a mile back to my car in the cold.

14:56, phil8248, like Wayne Gretzky said once, "You fail one hundred percent on the shots that you do not take". Yes, losing a wife is hard, and my mother knows all too well in losing a spouse that means the world in life. Granted, she lost her first husband due to a drunk driver rather than cancer like your wife, but an unexpected loss is an unexpected loss and things like that will hurt a person, regardless of how that they died. Yes, she also made five decades of bad decisions as well, but the thing is that, even within a marriage, couples can make bad decisions in their individual lives, so just because you had one bad date or two does not mean that you should relegate your life to eternal solitude because you just happened to pick out one or two rotten apples in the bunch. Do you think that your wife would want you to suffer the rest of your life alone? Yes, your sister made an adage about dating, and, yes, the odds do seem against you, but, as one Han Solo said, "Never tell me the odds"! You can defy the odds and find love in your life. You are also too smart, as well as experienced, and mature, to be a whiny and black pill swallowing neck beard incel MGTOW/male asexual in your life.

Just go to a bar, sit down and order one drink. Make eye contact with people you think are attractive. If they make eye contact with you at least twice and they’re interested, go over say hi and tell them your name. Talk for a while and ask for their number. It’s really that simple. I’m a bartender and that’s what I see every night.

There was this pumped up muscle head who sounded like Joe Swanson. He actually started crying towards the end of our date, hugging me and crying loudly (he sounded worse than Joe Swanson crying) as he told me everything wrong with his life. He told me how he made six figures yet was always unhappy all of the time, how he hated his job and stared at a clock at 4 AM finding a reason not to go to work, how alone he was, why did his stepmom’s friend “do that to him” when he was 13, how his older brother locked himself in the car before he shot himself, and then he dropped me off at the train stop, still sniffling. He then tried to ask me out again, but I politely declined.

Two first dates, in the same year, One told me she a lesbian, and the other was engaged. The third one that year was just nuts. That was about 30 years ago. thought I'd never meet a good wife. Now happily married, but not to any of those women, obviously.

NGL it’s still a shame how guys act over a woman’s weight. It causes so much insecurity to many. I’m not saying all men HAVE to start liking size 22s. But the pressure is unreal. Men act like a 12 is obese sometimes.

I have a positive story to share about online dating . ( I have many bad date experiences though from online dates though) 7 years ago in July I met a guy from online site plenty of fish : our first meet wasnt really a date it was a bunch of his extended family and his daughter with me and my 3 sons meeting at a river to go swimming. His cousin ended up breaking her ankle not long after we arrived. He made some uncaring comments to her about it until he she was actually serious and was truly hurt. Even though our first meeting was a bit odd a month later we met up again no kids no family. We became exclusive and soon will be getting married . :)

There’s always so much weight bashing in these threads. I agree that people shouldn’t lie or mislead with pictures but fat girls and guys are allowed to date and be loved and not be referred to as whales etc. 🙄
@pinstripesuitandheels4 жыл бұрын
I agree but I think the 'whale' comments are probably out of frustration of being lied to. So I think we can cut the people some slack. I'm not exactly all Disney Channel when I'm venting, either.

@@ri-hanihendriks5161 For many people the internet community *is* family and friends. It's a sad reality. Additionally, If you're censuring yourself it's not really venting, is it?

Then don't lie, people have their opinions & will express them honestly in private or anonymous. It's harsh but there's no way around it.
@pinstripesuitandheels4 жыл бұрын
@@ri-hanihendriks5161 I feel you're contradicting yourself. How can one freely vent on the internet when it's on certain terms. Anyway... It's clear we both have very different opinions, so let's agree to disagree.
@cassafrass12194 жыл бұрын
@@Jose04537 I already said in my comment that I don't think they should lie but I also think the story can be told without the person being called a whale. To me that's the difference between having an opinion versus just flat out being a jerk. Not being attracted to someone okay, fine, but to be like "Oh then this whale walks in." No, that's unnecessary.

I've dated people I've met on dating sites but am very careful. Many friends but no real connection and it's been awhile since I've even checked my profile. I dated a man for about 3 months that had been kidnapped by a pedophile when he was 12. On our 2nd date he showed us his interviews on Oprah and Inside Edition. He had issued but not as many as you would think. I enjoyed the time we spent together.
