I love YTTD's depiction of death so much more, im glad someone covered it!!! in danganronpa someone dies just, well, because its a killing game death is funky and the comedic relief has to be weeded out - but in yttd every single death is, well, a loss of a life. which in reality is a terrible horrible thing, and not just a plot device. its so much more mature and cruel and i really love it!

spoilers:) yes !!!! you worded this so well, this is especially real when you're contemplating on whether you push reko to her death or save her. and if you kill her, you basically just killed another person who wanted to save their sister when she was fine the entire time. however if you save her, she dies just as she would if you had pushed her off. it's so well done.

yeah! the deaths actually made me feel for the characters, and the fact that they don't get forgotten or shoved aside after their deaths either, they still continue to impact the storyline and living characters which i found really interesting and well done

The characters don't forget someone's death, instead haunts them and erupts their daily routine, just like real life. Compared to Danganronpa where they get over it after a few minutes like "Ooh, a person died... Oh well! Nothing can be done."

The writing of this game (or at least the English fan translation idk that’s all I speak) really does a great job of building tension. Certain scenes when people’s lives are on the line are FUCKING STRESSFUL just because of how they’re portrayed and what it could mean for the story.

As a huge wimp when it comes to horror, YTTD is actually one of my favorite games! It has quite a tense and scary atmosphere, but the amount of jumpscares and spooky images are actually pretty low. With that being said, that just makes the ones that *are* there are usually meaningful. I like that a lot better than horror that bombard the audience with jumpscares that don't really mean anything. The tone of the whole game is also done so well. There are some goofy and lighthearted moments, which just makes the emotional moments feel way sadder.

Despite the fact that this game looks weird and a bit off it’s a good game, I once judged the game the same way and didn’t want to play it but was told it was a good game. I watched someone play it and the game made me sad and all of the endings were just depressing and had me on the verge of tears, even the bad ones. The sad scenes had a lot of weight and the ost made was beautiful in these scenes, not only did it work well with the situation it was so good that I went out of my way to listen to one for 20 minutes. I haven’t played a game in a long time that has made me care deeply its characters. One thing I really want to say though is to not judge the game instantly because you think it’s a danganronpa clone. The game only has a few similarities but that’s where it stops, the game has you think 24/7 and as a person who loves to theorize I find this perfect, it feels like they are showing you the dots but are only giving you the pencil. Not only that but the story is great and mysterious, the characters are complex, the games are great, and overall a very good game. I would definitely recommend it if you like heart wrenching and games that keep you theorizing, same goes for the story.

Because it's Danganronpa with in fact visible deaths, with unusual mini games and consequences in game after decisions and various ending. This game has manga already made. With reading and gaming, because I like art style. Play it if you enjoyed Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma, Nonary Games or simply Danganronpa.

I’ve only heard a few things about this game: • That the premise reminds some of Danganronpa. • It’s apparently scarier and messes with your emotions a bit more than Danganronpa. • And it has a old manga like art style with the character designs, which I really like. I’m kinda curious to try this game out as it looks rather neat. But I’m a bit hesitant at the moment, as it being apparently scarier than Danganronpa kinda worries me and my fragile emotions. And wow, that fake scenario/example you did with Chihiro and Byakuya is quite something. Now I’m curious to see how that “what if?” would turn out. As Byakuya is one of the most mentally strong of the THH cast (mostly out of arrogance, but still), and Chihiro aims to be mentally strong too. I’m curious to see how Byakuya would deal with the idea of someone he looks down upon admiring him like that. And with how Chihiro would deal with someone he looks up to dying like that (my default is usually Mondo).

I remember when I first found out about YTTD, a KZbinr I used to watch decided to play it and I started watching, but then I just "I'll do it myself" and played, and instantly got addicted to the game, I was playing everyday that I could during the whole day, and got excited to keep playing at the day I couldn't because I wasn't with my notebook, I have a lot of attachment for this game and I'm happily waiting for the English translation, and I'll try to play as soon as it's out (#YTTDAppreciation)

I'm probably the ideal target for this game-- I love mysteries like Danganronpa, 999, etc. and I haven't been spoiled about this game either. The only thing stopping me from playing myself is I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to jumpscares and stuff and I know games like this often have moments like this. How does YTTD do from a jumpscare perspective?

There are little jumpscares here and there but you tend to get over them quickly due to the fact that you have to save someone in the moment or because of something else important going on that you don't get the chance to focus on the jumpsacres. But that's only from my perspective. I really do recommend it though.

There are a few jumpscares, but as someone that's kinda a coward when it comes to horror stuff, I *love* Your Turn To Die and highly recommend checking it out. Jumpscares and scary stuff are used sparingly and aren't just for shock value, the artstyle complements these elements well and is super unique, and the characters and story are much better than Danganronpa's imo. There are some puzzles that weren't as difficult as the Zero Escape games for me, but they still provide a challenge and are plenty nuanced. Also, the game is free and made by a single person, which is an incredible feat.
