I know this feeling of being torn between two places, two lifestyles. Every path can become comfortable, just make a decision, don’t look back, and each day write down (or share with your family) what you are grateful for. Your kids will pick up on this attitude and it will serve them well. Thanks for sharing your experiences so candidly!

I’ll be 60 years old in a few months. I’ve visited other countries but have never lived outside of the U.S. You have been so fortunate to have this great experience of living in another country, meeting your wife and starting your family. You were brave in making the choice to leave the comfort of your home country and you gained so much. It’s a great example for your child: Be brave, take a chance, experience life, and live an adventure.

I left Australia after seven years to return to the UK, and I believe you have accurately captured the conflicting emotions I experienced during that time. Best of luck to you and your family in Germany.

That was probably the most introspective video I have ever watched. Good luck with your journey. Do what feels right for you and your family.

The analogy of wearing two different clothes to tells what it feels like when wearing it versus living in two different place is a very good analogy. I subscribed this channel because I want to know the life of software engineer in Japan. But it turns out I get something more useful. Life lessons and philosophy. This channel is very unique in its own ways and I like the way you deliver the content that is useful and give another perspective for living in Japan. I would like to continue subscribing and sees how you and your family life is going. Children that are born having both nationality and living in both country will have a unique experience. Either you decide to live in Germany back home or new home in Japan I wish you the best of luck. Good luck on your journey and see you again sometime in the future.

You made the right decision. Japan is great to visit, but terrible if you have to live there.

I kinda agree. I’ve lived in Japan for 7 years now. It’s great if you’re an introvert; terrible if you’re an extrovert. Also, regardless, working in Japan is a marathon with little monetary reward (compared to Europe). On top of that, there’s the xenophobia, and how unbelievably hard Japan makes it for expats to get permanent residency

@@missplainjane3905 I speak conversational Japanese; I’m not fluent. I haven’t been to every prefecture in Japan. I have lived here for 7 years, and hear the same thing from my Japanese friends

I can relate the sentiment you have, but I also feel that your feeling is a mirror image to your wife. You came and enjoy assimilating to the culture you are fascinated to begin with, while I hope your wife us just as curious and willing to assimilate to German culture. Kids are probably easier to fit in quickly. Just as much you are excited to reconnect to your family and friends, that means a disconnect or less connected with her home/country. It’s a give and take, and you need to negotiate the balance. Best of luck!

As I get older the obvious importance of making decision lead us along pathways that we think are random. Maybe those paths aren’t random at all…..maybe God leads us in our decisions if we listen.

Good luck 🤞👍 I'm in early stage of my career and have been wondering... How it actually feels like moving to another country and all, and on surface everything looks great but actually it's not black and white like you said. Now not sure, if I will be permanently moving to another country or not. But will be moving and living in different part of many countries for sure to experience everything(as many as possible atleast).

I'm new to your channel, and looking through your content, I couldn't yet find an answer to my question. What are the top concerns would you recommend to consider when moving to Japan? Earthquakes? Xenophobia? (Since you don't have asian face) Crime?

Thanks for asking Aziz! Loneliness and cultural differences are the biggest I think.
