My car is 11 years old. I don’t have any car payments. I love that Jeep with 115,000 miles on it and counting. Because I don’t owe a penny! I am free of car payments and I don’t need the status of a new car to prove that I am clever. It’s a great feeling to jump off the status symbol train wreck and just be me.

With a qualification that, you should make sure the car at least drives safely and reliably. I drove a 2001 honda accord until just recently. Sometimes you have to pay extra to make sure you get something quality, and it'll save more money (in the long term, having less repairs)

Yep, I’m the millionaire he is talking about. I was the worst at school, but when it came to work, no one worked harder than me, saved hard, and invested hard. Now I’m in my mid 30s I have a couple of million in property and have my house paid off. I still work in a supermarket 3-4 nights a week after my day job.

(22) I hear ya. I drive an '06 Honda Civic with 275,000, go to a community College, and am currently renting out my parents' house. But if I'm honest, this lifestyle doesn't bother me as much as a "free-spirited" one does. I have nice things because I can afford them. I buy them for me, to impress and reward myself and to teach me to continue pressing on. I love my life with its security and I would live it a thousand times before trading it for a broke and stressful one.

My best friend worked in a paper mill, had his legs crushed and collected disability. He drove the worst car in town. He worked hard and invested in coins, gold and silver and made millions. He ultimately purchased 75% of our town and became a legend in our community in his own life time.

I appreciate this story about your friend. I was crushed by a bobcat years ago. Crushed my feet. I collect disability. I feel bad for it a lot of times. But I’m trying my best to not feel guilty and take advantage of my situation because that’s what everyone else does. Whatever their situation might be. I have a long term plan. I have no debt. Currently on a quest to get in the best shape of my life despite my health problems. Takes so much more work than it would for others due to my injuries. But it’ll be worth it. God bless my friend.

Thank you, Dave. I needed this video today. I started the baby steps last April and am now on baby step 6. I'm really putting in the hours at the moment as I have been blessed with extra work and so am trying to make hay while the sun is shinning. I worked a 14 hour day yesterday and working those hours week after week gets to me some days. This video has got me all fired up and again and raring to go. When I have paid off my mortgage, I would like to travel to America to do my debt free scream in your lobby, but saying that, I'm English, so I'm a little more reserved than you Yanks, so maybe a debt free "Hurrah!" would be more appropriate.

I had gotten a bit off track. I don't know how as I was following my budget last month. I am getting myself back on track but my momentum took a slight hit. I was able to pay off a debt each moth since the beginning of the year but I was back to the beginning this month paying just a little over the minimum on my smallest debt. Just wanted to share that even when we have set backs getting back on track is possible. I am only a month off track but it feels like a year off. Spirit's up momentum rolling back in this race Thank you Dave Ramsey and crew for helping through this.

Thanks for revealing the running was tough, Dave. I am working to get back into running and must be cautious in doing so as I have cranky knees, and when you said '6 miles', I was embarrassed by my paltry mileages of current! I will never run 'long' distances compared to many, but I'd like to get back up to 3 or 4 miles a few times a week. And I WILL, just gotta put in the work to get there ( I am, just gotta be patient and give my skeletal system time to catch up with this type of strain again)! BS4+, and working on the running again. The 'baby step' idea applies to SO much more than money in life. Eat that elephant one bite at a time!

I had a very pleasant life before I "made it", but I either chose friends who didn't do the "keep up with the Joneses" thing, or I simply refused to participate. I lost a couple of friends because of it, too (though not nearly as many as I feared). Did I 100% follow Dave's plan? No. Did I follow enough of it to make a difference. Hell yeah.

When my financed car broke down and my girlfriend had to quit her job cause we were down to one car with no way to fix the problem immediately we both sat down and said we can’t do this anymore. That’s when I found you introduced you to her and we both agreed to say no more. We just started baby step one and we aren’t stopping until we’re debt free vacationing in Hawaii

I started in my early 50's and knew I was going to turn 60 anyway, so might as well be debt free. Done and decided to pay off my house and buy a new car cash in the meantime. I was single making 40G and it was hard, but so proud of myself. You can do it!! (my favorite drink at a restaurant is still water - not paying $3 for tea or soda)

I'm 23 and most of the people my age want everything handed to them and don't wanna work for stuff. All they do is sit on social media all day and cry about how working 40 hours a week is too much....

being car loan and credit card free is the BEST feeling...i just have to knock out my mortage and i am making extra payments to speed that up. debt free means alot more choices in life. for example.... we all know people who are stuck in jobs they hate because they have all kinds of payments etc..no way to live.
