My best friend worked in a paper mill, had his legs crushed and collected disability. He drove the worst car in town. He worked hard and invested in coins, gold and silver and made millions. He ultimately purchased 75% of our town and became a legend in our community in his own life time.

I appreciate this story about your friend. I was crushed by a bobcat years ago. Crushed my feet. I collect disability. I feel bad for it a lot of times. But I’m trying my best to not feel guilty and take advantage of my situation because that’s what everyone else does. Whatever their situation might be. I have a long term plan. I have no debt. Currently on a quest to get in the best shape of my life despite my health problems. Takes so much more work than it would for others due to my injuries. But it’ll be worth it. God bless my friend.

My car is 11 years old. I don’t have any car payments. I love that Jeep with 115,000 miles on it and counting. Because I don’t owe a penny! I am free of car payments and I don’t need the status of a new car to prove that I am clever. It’s a great feeling to jump off the status symbol train wreck and just be me.

Thank you, Dave. I needed this video today. I started the baby steps last April and am now on baby step 6. I'm really putting in the hours at the moment as I have been blessed with extra work and so am trying to make hay while the sun is shinning. I worked a 14 hour day yesterday and working those hours week after week gets to me some days. This video has got me all fired up and again and raring to go. When I have paid off my mortgage, I would like to travel to America to do my debt free scream in your lobby, but saying that, I'm English, so I'm a little more reserved than you Yanks, so maybe a debt free "Hurrah!" would be more appropriate.

I moved to a more affordable part of the country and scaled way back (no cable, internet, etc) and I will work full time and do my free lance self-employment on the side until all my debts are paid and my savings is in place. Thank you for inspiring me, Dave.

I had gotten a bit off track. I don't know how as I was following my budget last month. I am getting myself back on track but my momentum took a slight hit. I was able to pay off a debt each moth since the beginning of the year but I was back to the beginning this month paying just a little over the minimum on my smallest debt. Just wanted to share that even when we have set backs getting back on track is possible. I am only a month off track but it feels like a year off. Spirit's up momentum rolling back in this race Thank you Dave Ramsey and crew for helping through this.

I had to join theM Ason's just to afford my lawyer and find friends. I can not run I can barely walk from the Iraq war, I am disabled, total and permanent, I am paying an over payment back to the DOT and next December it will be paid in full. I have three credit cards maxed out, I can not get a title for an overpriced lifted truck I bought after paying off my jeep I owned with no payment; what was I thinking? I have followed you since my transition out of the Army. Since 2005 I have listened to your advice, I am good at saving when I am single; therefore I am taking your financial advice and I will start living like no one else. Dude I agree with MOST of what you say.....Here's a tip about staying in shape......WEAR "Heavy" boots(I wear 3lb boots = 6lbs combined) during the most active period of your day. Stretch by Hanging from a door frame and touching your toes. Eat moderately and get a good nights sleep.

I'm taking this semester off of Community College and getting another job so I don't dip into my emergency fund or take out a loan and it seems as though everyone around me (with the exception of my parents, one of my brothers, and Dave) is telling me that I'm making a mistake. You can guess what the financial position of all of these people are... Broke, broke, broke, and swimming in debt. In the words of my dad and Dave: "Lemmings, all of them."

"We'd travel and stay at the Quality Inn, roaches were doing Ninja moves." Lol. Reminds me when I booked a room once and I saw a roach. Decent looking place then thay tossed in some critters. Yikes! I was something I laugh about now. Friemd teased me for my saving selections. 😂

Watching all of your videos because the guy I'm interested in and myself have had a discussion about debt. We've agreed to 2 things: 1. No kids until we're close to 30. 2. We don't want any debt unless it's a mortgage. Currently, I'm about 22k & I haven't helped him with his finances. But... We're getting there. So far I've paid off medical bills, and I've had to open a credit card due to an emergency. I'm ready to buckle down now. All I needed was a taste of financial freedom, and now I'm ready for more. Thanks, Dave & team. 💗

I’ve done 4 half marathons ... does that count as 2 marathons? Lol

Island Chick it shouldn't. I ran Boston Marathon 6 times, NY Marathon, ran marathons throughout Europe. I also run half marathons, and that's all they are, is half. A marathon is a marathon, half is half. Why not just run the whole marathon? Half...come on, that's just a warm up

No. Running 13.1 miles is easy. Running 22 miles is pretty easy. The last 4.2 miles of a marathon is what separates marathon runners from everyone else.

Yes...I would agree. After I was done with the 13.1, I was so done! Then again, that's all I trained for.
