You have done such a great job in Journaling you Denture Journey and I thank you Angela. You really have me thinking about going ahead and getting a full set, instead of just a bottom back partial which is what my dentist recommended. The problem with that is I have had top teeth pulled, so is it still going to be hard to chew my food!? I know it should be easier with a bottom partial, but. Anywho, I go on the 26th for extraction of two broken off teeth. One my last bottom molar and one on top. Ughhh. My teeth are extremely soft. Always have been. My fear is that I will freak out seeing myself with no teeth. Just not there yet as too much fear of them never fitting properly. Iam so thrilled you have had such a great experience with getting yours and how great you are doing. Thank you sweetie

Karla, when I got my dentures I didn’t have but two back teeth.. on the right side. It had been that way for many many years. I think that has helped my dentures fit so good because that bone loss has been diminishing over all these years (I hope that makes sense). I completely understand your concerns, it’s an experience that really affects your mentally, emotionally and physically ❤️ I was just so tired of living in fear of a tooth breaking or tooth pain and I’m thrilled I did it but with that said, I was ready ❤️❤️

Karla, it is a very emotional experience to see yourself without teeth. I put off looking at myself without teeth for several days, maybe a week, and it was really only a quick look when I was putting my teeth back in. Don't push yourself, wait till you feel stronger, you will get used to it and remember you are not alone. Very best of luck to you.

@@Jo.lawler thank you so much for your kind words. I have 3 sm cavities to get filled and my last molar on lt bottom that they could not save, takes so long to get an appt. It broke off. Scheduled on the 26th to get it cut out. Then they are going to fit me for a bottom partial. I just don’t think I’m ready emotionally and or mentally and physically to go with full dentures. Thank you for this update Angela. You say it is perfectly acceptable to sleep in your dentures. However, I have been told that I should leave them out overnight to rest the gums and prevent infections. I am at present waiting to get my permanent upper denture, at the moment I have a partial temporary upper. When I take them out I hate seeing one half of my mouth without teeth, and the other side with 5 teeth. I may have 2 of these teeth removed on 9th May. This will really make me look awful, and I dread this horrid appearance. I live in the U.K. and I have been so grateful for your positive approach regarding dentures. I really cannot face the idea of implants as I suffer from facial pain, also I have lost too much bone, so would require bone grafts. Thank you for all the information.

Susan ❤️ my dad has had dentures all of my life (I’m 44) and he’s always slept with them in, he can eat anything he wants. My brother has had dentures for 8-9 years and he’s always slept in his, he too can eat anything.Neither of them use adhesive. My stepdad has had dentures 14-15 years and has never slept in his and he uses adhesive, and he doesn’t like them, and can only eat what he wants when he reapplies his adhesive. I ask my dentist if I could sleep in mine and she said to me, yes if you want to sleep in them, that’s absolutely fine. I clean mine 2-3 times a day. I think it’s a personal preference and of course what your personal dentist recommends however I think the more you wear them, the better experience you will have. I also went into this with the attitude, ok I can’t take out my real teeth and I want my dentures to be as close to my teeth as possible, so I wear them ❤️❤️ I hope this helps provide some insight for you. Thanks for sharing! I’ll be watching your videos. I went to the dentist today for fixing a few fillings. Did talk about dentures and will have a consult next month. She is trying to talk me into a lower partial. I don’t think I want that. I have dry mouth and that is a big problem with getting cavities.

Cindee, I started with a lower and upper partial.. and I honestly think that was just pro longing the inevitable!! However that was just my experience ❤️ Good luck on your journey and whatever you decide, I’m always here if I can help
