Day 1! 25 Hours after extractions and immediate dentures

Here I am finding your video 9 years later, just got a full top set today and I’m about 4 hours out of the oral surgery. The blood is finally starting to stop, it’s almost scary how much I spit into the bucket next to my bed. I was given Percocet although I’m not going to take it unless pain gets extreme, I’ve never taken an opioid for pain and would like to keep it that way. My smile does look so much better (although it’s hard to smile right now) and I can already tell this is way better for me than my original teeth before.

Thank you so much for this video. I have had problems with my teeth since I was a little girl. My mom took me regularly to the dentist and every time I would have at least 5 cavities. I lost my first tooth when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter and it has been downhill from there. Abscesses, infections, sensitive teeth, embarrassment, you name it. I am going to the dentist next Thursday and getting temporary dentures, after getting teeth pulled and I am horrified. I keep crying and so nervous, but as you said, I'm sick of the pain and everything that goes with it. I am tired of hiding my smile, tired of having a low self esteem, but I don't know what it will be like to have dentures and I don't want to feel down anymore. Your video was great, and you seem like such a bubbly individual. You have lessened my fears and for that, I'm eternally grateful. Can't wait to eat something, drink something, and smile like a normal individual. People just don't understand what you go through when you have bad teeth; the eating, the hiding, the embarrassment.

I know this video and most of the comments are several years old, but I feel compelled to comment. I went through this too, in 2016; full mouth extraction with immediate dentures. Fear appears to be the number one reason why people are reluctant to do this, followed closely by the amount of money it costs. Was I scared when the big day arrived? No, I wasn't scared....I was TERRIFIED!! But even more than that, I was sick of dealing with the constant pain and discomfort of bad teeth, and of being embarrassed by how awful they looked. I also had extreme dental fear. At the time, I had double dental coverage, but I was so terrified of the dentist that I let my teeth decay. I only went when the pain became unbearable. But I decided that I was not going to let fear stop me from getting beautiful teeth. I had to literally force myself to go, but I did it. And I have never regretted the decision! It made all the difference in my self esteem/confidence! The next day, I went and bought a tube of pale pink lipstick, which I would never have worn before!! It was wonderful! If you're facing this, I'm telling you that YOU CAN DO IT! Acknowledge your fear, and then march in there and do it!! I promise you, it's worth it.

I'm pretty sure I've watched everyone one of your videos, most before eday and you were a huge inspiration to me. :) Every time you said you had speech problems, I thought "where?" because you sounded great to me. WOW!! I've watched a number of videos shortly after extractions and you look FANTASTIC. It doesn't look like you have any swelling and, regardless of the "S" sound (which I honestly didn't notice), it doesn't sound like you're having much trouble with your speech! I had no idea until recently the effect decaying teeth have on one's health. Looking forward to feeling better!!

I have been waiting for almost a week to be added as a member to the dentures a new smile chat thing. I've heard so many people reference it and I want to be able to see what all is on it. I have an appointment scheduled for February 8th to have the mold done... I will have tooth extractions after that.

I got a full extraction about 4 months ago. Top only, it went well. The only pain was the needles after that everything was numb. I wont lie, the sound of your teeth cracking and the smell of the filling really got to me. The hardest part for me was the healing process. They say three weeks? Hell naw, its more like 2 months and some weeks. I even lost weight because I couldn’t eat. Not because I had to learn how to chew with the dentures but, because of the pain. In the morning when you have to put your dentures back in from them being cleaned really will hurt. Trying to eat will really hurt. That is the downside of getting dentures. Once you fully heal, it will be smooth sailing. And yes you can eat just about anything. Good luck to anyone that will be getting this done. Its not hard. Its just a process of learning how to live with new teeth.

Yes, I just had my E day and immediates placed in my bottoms yesterday morning. I already had uppers done 10 years ago..learning to talk properly will be a process for me, lol! I am surprised (knock on wood) that I am not in excruciating pain and swollen like I was when I had my uppers done but I am certainly not complaining! The bottoms are way to loose though! OMG I can't believe you are that amazing not to have any discomfort so soon after. Did you have any done loss on bottoms? Dentist scared me by saying my bottoms would be floating around in there due to bone loss.

I wouldn't say I didn't have discomfort, but I didn't have pain at this stage. I don't know about bone loss, but my dentist didn't mention it. I had alveoplasty on both jaws to promote healing and prevent pain. It smooths down ridges left from extractions. The lower denture doesn't float as much as you might think, though it may. It's created in a manner in which you can control it with your tongue, and with adhesives. I was very fortunate in that mine does not float at all. As time has passed, my gums have shrunk enough that it's loose now, but Secure adhesive does a great job holding it in. :)

Had my upper done yesterday, keeping my bottoms, they’re in pretty good shape. Same with S’s, same with bleeding, but numbness was gone in 2 hours. Thank God for narco-5.

I am day 5 now from having 4 extractions .. adding to the ones I already had out over the years. I got to keep my front teeth by some miracle. I have partials up and down and today I swear the pain is worse than it was on Monday. I ended up finally NOT sleeping in them because it was impossible and I am apparently GRINDING them in my sleep!! ouch.. Vicodin is my friend at the moment. going through your videos now :)

I'm having all my teeth extracted and full upper and lowers within a month or so but I am absolutely terrified of gagging. I can't use mouth guards because I gag. Did you have trouble with gagging? I have GAD and just severe anxiety and this issue is making me sick I am so scared I'm 23 years old I'm in excruciating pain all the time and just lost most of my back molar today. What great videos you've done. I go in for a consultation in 3 weeks. I'm more terrified of them seeing what little teeth I have left, and the receding gums/gum disease. Because of $$$, fear, and embarrassment, I've put dental work off for 25 yrs+. I gone through years of pain, sleepless nights, and the inability to eat so many foods I used to enjoy. I'm 59 years old, but look 15 yrs younger....but "big deal"...when you have horrible teeth it makes no difference. I just hope I don't have a panic attack. I've never had nitrous oxide and I'm okay with novacaine. Please wish me luck. I'm going to affordable dentures too. Is the denture you received the day of your extractions temporary? In any case, you look FANTASTIC and your speech sounds perfect to me. Again, thanks for your videos.

Hi again! If you see this...what shade of dentures did you choose? I'm starting to second guess myself if I got them too white (had to sign off on my choice today) but the next shade that the dentist thought would also suit me were dingy! Now I'm seeing some comments on DANS that too white teeth, especially on those of us who are "of a certain age" look fake. Your teeth look great and pretty white but not unnatural. I figure with all the Coke I drink they will stain a bit anyway.

I have a question, I'm on day 1 of my upper denture, I'm only 20 years old and took a bad crash racing my dirtbike shattering the top row of my teeth, only option tht fit my price range was dentures, I'm happy how they look but there very uncomfortable and hard to eat with, does if get better through time because I hate how they feel, big bulky and they move a lil. will it eventually be firm on my gums or will it always move wen I bite

Hi, Had all my teeth out 2 weeks ago but was told putting dentures in straight after is bad for healing.. it will be 6 weeks before mine are perfect ( first fit on Friday..) seen so many vids and asked my dentist, he said that some dentist do that because they are moving people in so fast to get more money ( I don’t think so but?) u will have more problems in the future when your gums completely heal... in my opinion that’s all it is..😊 I’m just at the start of this and only going by what the dentist has said.. my mum in law has what you had done and she hates it. She is week 8 in and has been back with so many problems. She still can’t eat! How do u guys do anything with dentures in immediately after extractions is beyond me. My gums still hurt after 2 weeks! You Americans must either have kick arse pain killers or ya damn tough! From Australia and just curious as to why immediate dentures?

I just had mine done 5 days ago.. 5 teeth on the top had to be extracted before an immediate insert was put in. It was painful..but I am getting by. They look awesome. Dentist did not prescribe anything for pain. I have been back to him for 1 adjustment.
