I want to adopt so bad. I cry watching this because those poor little children.... but they are so picky, and currently in the USA you can't afford to adopt... I'll never have children but I tried fostering... it was to hard to let them go... I couldn't do it.
@marissabuoncora16084 ай бұрын
Why couldn’t you adopt the kids you fostered? They didn’t let you?
@RoseThorneTV4 ай бұрын
@@marissabuoncora1608 So the mother still had rights to the kids, but she went against the court orders when she found out through the oldest ones friends that we allowed her to go to a skating rink on Fridays. Well the friend wanted her to spend the night and after talking with their parents and meeting them I agreed. They where going to pick them up from the skating rink. Something came up and they where not able to pick up the girls and instead of calling me the oldest ones friend called the oldest ones bio mom and she came to get them and take them home. After the sleep over oldest one came home crying and telling me what happened and explaining that she wanted her to tell the case worker that we where not caring for them. (Not feeding them, taking them to school, letting them bath etc.) She was freaking out because her mother has gotten them taken from people in the past in similar ways and she didn't want to go. So we went to the casework and explained what happened. Caseworker called us back the next day. (We where with the oldest one in the car taking her to the heart doctor and my phone connects to speaker) The caseworker stated that "I believe the mother over the kids and I believe they are making it all up to get away from her." Oldest one was in tears, super upset. (She was like 15 old enough to have a right to know what was going on in her own case with her mother) Middle of the night she went for a walk to clear her head at the walking park down the road, and I just happened to check on them and she was gone. We searched for hours before finally calling the cops, unfortunately just as the cops arrived and I called the case worker, she came home... but it was already to late. Case worker took them a week later because of her "running away" despite the fact the police didn't put it down as a run away.

You need to put you energy into discouraging these sick and selfish women from having babies. Law reform need to happen in all western countries stating that women who continually have children when they cannot handle them get forcefully sterilised. It's best for the kids AND society.

Adoption is an extremely emotional/psychological process and requires a lot of finances. It's not an easy option for many families.
@KaseyWithers4 ай бұрын
@@marissabuoncora1608the ultimate goal of fostering (in the US at least) is reunification either with the parents or with another family member. If the caretakers show enough progress and change, or they find a willing family member to take them, foster kids won't be eligible for adoption. It really depends on the child, their family, and the situation overall.

@nzlittlebee4 ай бұрын
It's not always as straight forward as that. Mental health, abuse, trauma, lack of support, intelligence, financial reasons, addiction... Way too many reasons why a person may not be able to look after their children. Not having them would be the best option in some cases, but you can't take it back... We cannot judge the bio parents having not walked in their shoes.
@natalieknight14184 ай бұрын
As someone who was adopted you never know the situation so don't judge. My mom was young, already had my brother, my sperm donor had already left when she was 4 months pregnant with me, she couldn't find a job because it was a high risk pregnancy, so she gave the the life she knew she couldn't give me. Did it mean growing up away from all my siblings...yes...but now I understand why did what she did and she and I are as close as any mother and daughter would be. She's amazing. Don't judge a situation you don't know the full story behind.

They need to stop allowing babies to be adopted. They need stable care for up bringing, elder kids need the homes and families. Stop farming out babies only. And open up the adoption requirements. No one makes 100k a year where i live, and thats the minimum requirement of income to even be considered as a foster parent where i am, cant have any divorces, or contact with social workers before. No depression history. That's really unrealistic. It's like they want these kisin care....cause the state pays the carehomes. 3k a kid per month. Plus foodstamps andheathcare coverage.

The Canadian system is a nightmare too. Most adoptions have to be open adoptions. That means you take on all the legal responsibilities of a guardian but have to agree to keep the family the child came from in the loop with updates and visits. You have to involve the people who were deemed unfit to care for the child in that child's life and often re-traumatize them by seeing the people who neglected and abused them. You have to make them visit grandparents determined unfit or unwilling to take them in and go on about how the system is wrong and their abusers were actually good people before the drugs. As an adoptive family you're considered unfit if you've had any physical or mental health issues. Financially you have to be independently wealthy. My friends went through two rounds of in vetro fertilization with surrogates and it cost less than adopting through the government.
@breakfastattiffanys7412 ай бұрын

If long term foster care will have them until they are 18 what’s the difference between this and adopters?
@gargwinvinesnake69614 ай бұрын
It's so incredibly hard to adopt a child where I am at. Unless you're independently wealthy and have never had any physical or mental health problems the answer is no. It was cost less and involved less hoops for my friends to get two rounds of in vetro fertilzation with surrogates. Most adoptions here open adoptions. You're the child's legal guardian and are legally required to cover all expenses. HOWEVER thei previous family often still has the right to visit them. So once a month or so you have to take your child to visit with the family that wasn't able to support and keep the child. Sure parents may still be drug addicts, but they have the right to see the child they lost to the government. You have to sign on to allow that or you can't adopt.

Im so shocked by all the reasons adoptive parents give to not choice a child. A child having an illness, how can you not love or want a child with a health issue? Shouldnt that make you want a child even more? If I was looking to adopt a child it would be hell to choice between all those children, because I would want to take care of all those kids. A health issue would make me want the child more, not less. Because I know that i can give the child a warm home.

I was in a orphanage and was placed into group homes and 24 foster placements from age 3 until i was adopted at 6 years old . I had very sexialised behaviours and no foster parents could cope with my behaviours. My birth mother tried to get me back when i was 4 The chiid welfare told her that i had already been adopted out when i hadn't been. They told her that to protect me, i wish that my birth mother gave me up from Birth. That way i would not of been to hell and back Woild not of been sexually abused as a toddler, and rejected by her and other foster parents. Im grateful for my adoptive parents, they had to cope with so much from me and they never gave up on me. I love 💕 them both so very much ❤❤❤ Unfortunately so much damage had already been done 😢 Damaged children become damaged adults I dont break the law or do i think i am complete stuff up However i do suffer from depression, anxiety and dont think i should be breathing ay times I think 💬 in my opinion babies should be adopted at birth when possible that way that baby 🍼 has a better chance to live a normal and productive life 🧬

I was adopted at birth. This was in 1956. I still have abandonment issues. I was born with a inherited genetic condition, no one knew my biological parents medical history. All the groups I’m in for adoptees, all the adults who were adopted have issues. Potential parents need therapy and education before they consider adoption. Too many children who are adopted grow up being told they are special, no we were relinquished. Pre birth memories and pre verbal trauma that new parents need to aknowledge.

I think the reason why she seems as though she favours Lauren Which she doesn’t is because Lauren is 7 she’s much more aware as opposed to Liam who was only a baby when he was removed so Liam likely doesn’t understand in fact from this documentary it seems as though Liam had little to no understanding of his birth mother which makes the adoption process a lot easier but with Lauren since she does understand and absorbs more she’s more scared and more aware of the changes in her life which is why the social worker spends more time with her so it’s not so much favouring her as it is working with her and helping her to understand that these changes are a positive thing for her

Children who have already been rejected by or removed from their birth parents so deserve the ideal parenting, which is having a dad and a mum. Any child psychologist would have to admit that that's the best scenario. I'm sure there are many same sex couples who have stable, loving relationships. But children's rights and needs should be paramount.
