What it's REALLY like working with Steve Albini (CODE ORANGE)

Whats interesting is that Billy Corgan sang on one of the songs but Steve Albini used to rip on Smashing Pumpkins hard back in the 90s. He wrote an article for the Chicago Reader where he tore into a few popular Chicago bands at the time and Pumpkins were on his hit list where he said "The Smashing Pumpkins are REO Speedwagon (stylistically appropriate for the current college party scene, but ultimately insignificant)" I guess they made up. With that said Steve was a tough nut to crack back then. He actually had bad impressions on Nirvana during Nevermind and didn't actually change his mind on the band until he worked with them.

steve had some really interesting sound albums. he will even self admit what he likes is completely opposite of what would be considered something good for radio. there is a story steve tells where he was working with Bush on their second album and the at the end of the recording Bush ask steve to write down 12 songs which he would put on the album and he left out Swallowed which ended up being one of their biggest singles ever. steve even says he has no idea how he can even pick things like that.
