You totally deserved the employment offer. I'm impressed by your hard work and diligence during your internship. I like your message at 8:12 "People are not necessarily gonna tell you exactly what to do. Instead, you're supposed to find what you want to do based on your interest and career ambition and you're supposed to go for it." It applies to all industries.

so how did you get that full time offer though? like what you did was impressive but like you said, there was no head count for your team for full time offer, so what happened exactly?

i think there were multiple things coming from me that impressed my team throughout my internship (which i was told). -Took the initiative to learn something new and was able to get good at it in a short time (aka SQL and anlaytics). basically the whole "drive your own development" motto at spotify. - was able to build trust with my manager (i never missed a deadline, and i always kept my maanger in the loop of my progress, and would actively share with him how I would like to furthur 'grow' myself) -tried my best with everything (instead of just delivering a presentation, I took the extra time to validate every number that was written in my presentation with DS, worked on the story telling and narrative with my manager, memorized the entire presentation, spoke to multiple teams to gather insights before writing my biz recommendations, and at the end that presentation actually became a real proj) -was able to build really good relationships with alot of ppl which is a big culture fit check (aka ending up becoming friends with my colleagues/ becoming their mentee, and i didn't realize until later that they also helped 'advocate' for my headcount) -actively seek ways to add value (i had a lot of free time during my internship, so after observing for a while what my team was working on, I laid out a few things i believe i could help on and pitched my manager. ended up actually working on real projects on the team and delivering something!) at the end they let me extend my internship for few more weeks while my team worked on getting a headcount for me.

Analysts predict that Spotify will take over Google soon, since Spotify is everything you can hear and certainly hearing more flexible than video.

I’m happy that you found success in this and that you seem to enjoy it so much. However, wow, that networking tracker thing? It feels so contrived, these like fake business relationships that you are forced to foster just to develop your own career? Keeping track of anyone and everyone who may have a chance of an opportunity to give you a leg-up? Maybe I am reading too much into that but wow I now know for certain that I do NOT want to ever work in a tech company. It all seems way too inauthentic for me. I’m glad I am in a completely different field.

agree! inauthetic is the word - also things like kombucha on tap, arcade room, i get that it's for the purpose of enhancing workplace environment, but it's a bit sad seeing money go to these unnecessary things when we know how little spotify pay their artists that actually make the platform possible. My company in engineering have a really nicely designed offices & good amenities, and to me that's all you need out of a company office. If i want an arcade I'll go to an arcade haha, it's weird how much work is becoming peoples lives/families. Great video though Lillian, thank you for the insight
