yes! I was raised to be attentive and cheerful which gave me much praise in my childhood years but now that I'm older I can't even smile and laugh while chatting with men because they kinda end up saying "hey I uh have a girlfriend..." or ask me out for a date after a while. It frustrates me because I can't seem to build a solid friendship with men. Also little things like buying a coffee to be nice or helping out with small stuff - which is always completely normal around girls - is suddenly a huge gesture and is suggestive. I also learned that casual touching or hugging is a no go. So far I'm only friends with gay men or straight/bi men in a stable relationship. With girls it's never been a problem, straight or not.

Japanese women are aparently about 158cm ( 5' 2'' ) at average. That would translate to an ideal healthy weight range of about 45 to 50 kg ( 100 to 110 lbs ). 30 to 40kg is just insane...

Michael Schulze I think they have a different muscle to fat ratio though. Many of my east Asian female friends are noticeably physically weaker than western women of similar body weight. An average African woman at 40kg(with the right bmi) seems to be stronger than an equivalent Japanese woman. So it's not as unrealistic, but still not reasonable.

Someone told me once that the "ideal" weight of a woman is her length minus 110. So if she is 1.70m tall, her "ideal" weight would be about 60 kilo (from 57 to 62). But take into acount that muscle is heavier than fat, so two girls of different body shape (one with more fat that the other) can weight the same but not be equally healthy. I think there's a misunderstanding about the misunderstanding around weight. Honestly, some guys (Myself included) are just stupid and don't actually know shit about weight. If someone asked me randomly what my ideal weight for a girl is, I would either not be able to answer or I would give an answer that sounds straight up insane because I don't know weight. I know there are definitely a lot of guys that do have unrealistic standards but, there are a lot of guys that just don't know what they're talking about and unintentionally say something that sounds bad and unrealistic

I'm 1,67m tall, weighing 48kg. I'm VERY skinny, but not unhealthy at all. In fact, I have more stamina than my normal and overweight friends, and rarely get sick. So yeah, 40kg doesn't seem unattainable for some of those 1,50m tall girls. My mom has that height and weighs 45kg, and she is not bony like me, even got some flab. She's always considered 41 her "lucky number" when younger. 40-50kg should not be a problem at all, up to 60kg if you're taller. Possible to be 30-something, but only on the upper half; you'll probably start showing a lot of bones already. That is not to say all girls have the genetic predisposition to have a petite body frame, but just like most girls expect males to be tall, most men expect girls to be small/thin/whatever, it's a physical advantage in the dating market, but if it's unrealistic to you, that's just because you're not "made" to be this thin naturally, like some. Unrealistic is trying to be who you're not, trying to compete with people you shouldn't. Oh, and by the way, I'm a guy. My body type is far from ideal by female standards, see if I care.

People of the same age group will vary in their measurements. 40 is around 88 pounds, which can still be realistic if you consider country, height, and muscle mass, and whatever else. 30kg (I'm using a Google converter) is around 66 pounds. Assuming we're talking about girls in ideal living conditions (access to food, shelter, clean water, etc.), I'd say 30 is not only nearly impossible, it might also be unhealthy for a girl high school and up. Some people are just small, and at a certain age, their bodies decide they don't want to grow anymore. I'm small. I'm around the 40kg mark give or take a few points, and I've stayed at that mark for several years now. I'm not super skinny, but I don't have much muscle. I don't believe 40kg is unreasonable weight for a girl high school and over. Expecting 40kg of a girl is unreasonable.

I have heard people (forigners) say that Japanese women are too skinny and maybe there is some truth to it. After all most guys (forigners) want curves in a woman, especially in the waist to hip area. 40 kilos....well if you are REALLY short like 5 foot tall or something, that can be considered normal. Medical journals state that normal weight for 5 feet to 5'3" range is 95lbs-115lbs. I would say, if you can see your ribs or your spine you are underweight. Personally im not into girls that are too skinny but everyone likes different things.

Man it's cool how *different* tastes are in other countries compared to America or well NY for my case when it comes to men/women. Personally, I feel that girls with some meat on their bones with an appetite is better, dont really enjoy the type that worries too much about their appearance in public, dont starve yourself order a rack of ribs and chill out and enjoy yourself, although if you are overweight it may be beneficial to your over all health to enjoy everything in moderation and most importantly exercise, also hate make up, makes people look fake af... :P

I don't know why but I think men in general just don't know how a certain amount of weight looks on girls. Also, if you are fit and work out, you might really look as if you are much lighter than you actually are.

It's really easy to figure out the ideal weight. Just get the height for instance 153cm, take away 100 and use the remainder as weight 53kg. The max is 53kg, minus 5kg is the ideal 48kg and minus 10kg is the minimum 43kg. It works every time if you want to validate against google and the like the results will match. Converted to Feet and lbs. a 5 foot woman should be at most 116, ideal weight should be 105 and minimum should be 94. It works in the opposite direction for guys.

I live in Taiwan (half Taiwanese) some girls in my class are very skinny and like 5'3, allot of them say they should be as skinny as the idols and anime characters. I'm 5'7 and 48 kg, normal body and i got called fat by them multiple times. Standards in Asia are very different from other countries and that's a fact!

DrProfessor756 I’m not japanese but I’m 177cms tall and weigh 64kgs and I do eat a lot (healthy but quite a lot) but it’s hard for me to gain weight, and if I’m specially stressed out I will lose weight. it depends on the person’s body, mental state and physical conditions (like you could have some chronical disease for example) among other factors. but many people get brainwashed by society’s unhealthy stereotypes (e.g: the anorexia suffering models in clothing brands or the extreme photoshop on magazines) and like as long as you’re not extremely slim to the point you can see your bones more than your meat or too obese to the point you can barely move, then it’s fine. People each have their own struggles and their bodies are all different but I get baffled when some people are expecting 30kgs to be normal??? like dude.

Not only Japanese guys expect girls too skinny. It's been happening around Asian for more than 4000+ years! Asian guys expect skinny girls with big boobs, white skin, big round eyes, oral face, tiny size. Sounds stupid, but many Asian girls are struggling with weight loose and boobs and face surgery. So bad that I'm not charming to them because I gave up that trend and gain weight. I realized that I was soooo stupid I never try to gain weight when I was teenage so my boobs were grow and they were flat. Now I eat more and work out to reach western size. When I was in the USA, my eyes were brighten by real beautiful body shape of teen girls there. They are tall, strong, boobs and hips are round and pretty. Skinny bone is nothing and probably affect to the pregnancy and anemia... I have anemia actually. Gosh! Stupidity in wrong teenage trend messed up my own life. I want to roll back time to hit my own head.

Healthy weight depends on height. If you're like 155cm 40kg may not be that low but if you're about 190 your weight is optimal at 85-90kg I think.

Lala Rin at 155 perhabs I don't have that much knowledge with lower heights I'm 193 +- 1. My weight is too low(though I've always been and both parents are slim as well). I take care not to lose weight but it would be good to gain a bit.

Given the lack of heating in Japanese homes, I would expect women to wear sweat pants and shirts at home, or maybe fleece. At least, flannel pajamas.

Not really. A woman can weight 30-40kg if they are short and have ectomorph (skinny) body complexion. Of course, other factors could affect, but you get the point. Still, finding all those factors together is rare. So yeah, expecting every girl to weight that is wrong.

It is curious to note that weight - simply weight - can have such great importance or influence on the beauty of a girl. I even understand that it is interesting to know how to control weight and not get too fat, but it seems that these numbers suggest that girls need to be anorexic or Dhalsim sisters. I myself do not find it very attractive to see very skinny girls because it causes the impression that she even have some health problem and, aesthetically speaking, some extra curves facilitate the visual attraction. In my view, beauty is more geared towards genetics.

Holy shit, 30-40kg. I honestly think that about 120-130 lbs is a good target for most girls at the 5 feet to 5'4" mark. I personally don't like my girls too chubby, but it's much better than anorexic.

I don't know why weight or looks is an issue. If there is an afterlife do you know how you will look. Will everyone be about the same looks. Just an energy body maybe. The energy body says I want to be a bird and it becomes a bird. The energy body says I want to look like a beautiful princess and let the mountains be full of flowers and it happens. Maybe it is all like that very fluid, unlike our material world all fixed governed by laws of physics.
