I can say that back to you too.. The thing is that Japanese government and it's leadership is pretty darn bad for what it is. Currently most young people who work in Japan don't think that they'll ever actually see any pension being paid to them, simply because the system that the government has set up is not able to continue or support the next generation when they will stop working. This is just one of the big issues there. There is also a constant pressure and stress due to the way how society and hierarchies are built up which isn't as bad in other countries. For creative and liberal minded people, Japan can be a horrible place to live, while those who're more traditional will be able to manage a lot better. There are a lot of restrictions and prejudice going around and Japan is a country where the group is more important than the individual.
@AM-sm5oo4 жыл бұрын
@@KoinzellGaming That is partially true, but recently Japan has been more stable in terms of people and society and there haven’t been any recent protests or riots that I know of. Also it depends where exactly you go and who you hang out or associate yourself with in Japan. Usually around this time and age, the younger generations are more tolerant or foreigners and people from other countries, but older generations tend to move away from them. Other than that Japan is a really beautiful country full of Love and Culture as well as it’s recent improvement of its economy with it’s economy ranking third in the world as well as its strong military force as well. In addition to this, Japan has implemented more English speaking programs across the country such as schools and different public signs with the hope of attracting more foreigners to their country.

@Chung Shiu Liau I would say I am probably like a 7 at home but I get treated like a 9 in Asia, or even by Asians when I was at home. Quite often if you find yourself in an intimate situation with someone Asian they'll ask to just touch your face because it's just different to them. You generally tend to be able to punch a bit above your weight when you're considered exotic. That's true anywhere. So in placesike Japan, having blue eyes, light skin, lighter hair, being tall etc all go in your favour. Where it may just be the norm in your home country. And when you're somewhere that foreign people are somewhat uncommon that makes you seem a bit more interesting too. You don't have to look like a movie star.

Somehow I feel like many japanese think of models when they think of "westerners"... last I heard, over 60% of adult germans are overweight and in terms of obesity, over 20% in the EU and over 30% in the U.S. are considered obese, in Japan it's just over 3%, so it's not exactly like "we" are skinny overall. I would also assume since japanese tend to have partially unrealistic weight goals, they'll use really skinny western models for their clothes to a point that they might not considered healthy anymore in the EU/US. To give you a reference: The Model Isabelle Caro made popular interviews/documentaries about anorexia nervosa. During the CBS filming she weighted 33kg @ 1,65 meters, while this wasn't the lowest she weighted, her appearance pretty much shocked everyone, since she looked like skin and bones. She died at the age of 28 in late 2010 after returning from a Job... in Tokio. Before I spark some mean comments again: I'm not saying japanese tend to get anorexia nervosa or unhealthy low weights... but I think some of their stuff like models posting unrealistic weights etc. goes a bit too far. Even in some ask japanese videos we've seen girls saying they have to lose weight when they were already quite skinny.

When I moved to Japan, I was shocked at how differently Japanese dressed differently than Americans in terms of casual wear. In America I see jeans, t-shirts, tank tops, leggings, and in Japan I see people dressed modestly and I rarely saw jeans. I have rarely seen a Japanese person wearing shorter than a 3/4 sleeve since I moved. So I put it off as its most likely a cultural thing, and this video seemed to have confirmed that. Great video!

I think its just body shapes. Europeans tend to be taller on average and built differently. It's the same way that West Africans build muscle faster than others but also tend to have smaller calves. Europeans tend to be the strongest overall just due to having a larger frame to build more muscle. Again these are all generalisations and averages.

@Mecks0896 жыл бұрын
And here we go back to fitting a stereotype again. It's like wearing clothes for comfort doesn't even enter they're heads... I get that's there's standards & practices to what is socially acceptable, then there's culturally traditional, I understand why they do it, but when I hear: _"It's something Japanese don't do/ It doesn't suit us/ I won't be risky and standout for the fear of being looked down by others telling what I'm doing is wrong/ I'd rather be a cute little Japanese person."_ If feels like they belittle themselves so much all because of the herd mentality, I feel sad to hear that this is how they feel. Like that one girl who wants to wear a long one-piece dress, she doesn't though because she's short? They don't have what she's looking for a country that she's part of the majority of?

Random Girl I feel that I'm still shrinking. I was 5'2" a couple of years ago. Never got taller than that. I'm the shortest in my family.

It's funny, because a lot of us westerners find japanese people can dress really cool. (:

Sorry i dont really fit in the image of foreigners. Im 4ft 9in and all the clothes look huge on me not matter if they are extra small.

I'm 5ft 1in, and overweight. I like to wear kawaii and nerdy shirts or a pair of jeans. I don't mind wearing a low cut shirt. I don't wear dresses at all unless it's for cosplay(don't have any). I do have a belly dance outfit. I would love to try on a kimono and see what I would look like it on. Models, they need to start having different sizes and heights. Not everyone is 5ft 11 and wear a size 0. A lot of women in the US are size 10, more or less. We are all shapes and sizes.

Or you could lose weight, not everybody is fit but they should. A healthy weight is the sexiest body.

Average American male is 5ft 10. Average Japanese male is 5ft 7. Average American woman is 5ft 4. The average Japanese woman is 5ft 2. Bearing in mind the US numbers count people of Hispanic and Asian descent which more often than not isn't what Japanese people mean when they say foreigners. Which in this context matters as it lowers the average height. So no, those numbers aren't huge. But they're definitely significant in relation to adult height differences.

Your premise is flawed. It is scientifically impossible to use "better than Japanese" in a sentence unless the words "There is nothing" proceed them.

Anyone else notice the um...background dancer behind the interview subjects at 2:22 ? Question for the Ask Japanese staff, do you get a lot of this type of stuff when filming on location?
