The two voices I listen to when it comes to doing weddings. I can't tell you how much you guys have helped me.

I am just starting my business. I like to focus more on event photography but I have learned so much from watching both of your videos.

Touching on the social media bit, I still love horizontal portraits or photos or landscape shots and I will post them that way. I don't care what Instagram wants. So often the photo looks a million times better horizontal

100% agree. I think I've posted 2-3 portrait oriented photos in my entire life

@@iamsamhurdphotography It's a pain in the #$* but now I subconsciously take almost every photo in both horizontal and portrait mode. Instagram be living rent free in my head.

I feel like it’s a bit of a slow period for photography globally. (I’m in Jamaica) This was a refreshing watch as it reminded me of some very simple ways of marketing my photography services because I’ve gotten so much into social media and posting. Also I shoot hybrid. Sometimes I get lost in the photography that I completely forget to make a video and struggle with finding good clips to complement photos for posting. I’m actively trying to change that

Love his vibe. I do photography and filming and i love doing lot of different things. I'm not just a "blank" photographer. I offer a lot. So there's always something going on for different times of the year. Great advice. And loved the laid back interview. This was high quality.

Hey Taylor, could you do an updated video in the members page for how you're doing Facebook/Instagram ads with the new Advantage+ addition?

It's so great to hear real, honest conversations like this. We need more people like John in the industry!

Is it changing his prices to match where he lives now? Because that's probably the right choice. When you move from a major city to a small town, the price changes too just fyi
@jbivphotography10 ай бұрын
I’ve actually raised my prices twice since moving to the new area. So I was already below market in general. Maybe I raised it too much however. It’s hard to tell.

Same. I've barely just got my 2 weddings for the year. Goal is 10. What a crazy year. It'll get there though. For all of us. @candidsol

I'm niche. Diversifying is good and worth it for some, but I'm proud of having a specialism. At the end of the day there will ALWAYS be people getting married. I hit 45 weddings a year for 3 or 4 years about 3 years in and instead of becoming an educator I just kept going. Shoot more and you end up with more familiarity in venues, and recommendations, then more clients recommending you. If you do 10 weddings you only have 10 chances to impress people for future recommendations. It then also takes 3 years to shoot the same amount as the average photographer, practice experience etc. Well I guess If you're earning enough from KZbin and selling presets then great but I have an inkling that it's a freaking grind to churn out this kind of content. Most of us can barely post a reel from a wedding.

Photographers diversify because it is possoble to make more money in real estate or advertising and less stress to make more money. Also, destination weddings or editing for hours isnnot for everyone. I dont do these genres but getting paid 20 or 50000 per day is far more than a wedding. Educating or photo trips dont take Your weekends and they bring the money

Many photography are paid by the parents of the bride and they would choose something more upper middle like $3500 to $4000 since it is free to the bride from her parents. If they need to pay out of their pocket such as second marriage or poor parents, they would be more price conscious.
