Planetside 2 has been my go to FPS for like a decade now and it always blows my mind that we don't have other games trying to do an all out war style multi-player. Like you can't get the chaotic and insane fights you get in planetside anywhere else, not even in battlefield.

So true, all other large scale battle games feel really rigid compared to planetside. When I used to play planetside I would log in and the dynamics of the battles would always be different and engaging because of the amount of players, large terrain and vehicles. I wish more people would see the potential for fun with game.

Check out Foxhole. It's not a perfect game but it is ultimately chaotic warfare. There's been a fight I've been in that was under constant artillery bombardment for two hours but we still held the town against the attackers.

Really wish the Warhammer franchise would make their own PlanetSide/Battlefield style game with some neat gibbing and gore for a cool grim dark battle setting.

I'm still just confused why no other companies have decided to try to make their own PS2 within the past 12 years of this game being out. For being a horribly miss managed game its shown such potential that someone out there should've been like well if we make a solid product it may not be exponential money but it will be a nice steady income stream. But instead all of the big players went to make poorly coded battle royal games that were competing in a cut throat small market causing most of them fail and lose money. I usually like to say if you want to make a business investment into games pick a niche game genre allocate some funds to making the core of it while making it easy to expand up in the future if the game stirs up interest and if not it's easy to move onto the next project.

Hell Let Loose has a lot of similar core mechanics, including strategic spawn and deployment, along with the necessity of teamwork. It differs in that it doesn't actually allow for multiple fronts, and the size is scaled back to 96 players, but has a PS2 like feeling to the gameplay.

You forgot to mention - the last patch broke major parts of the game - most vehicle gunner seats are broken

There was an easy solution to Oshur. Never have it open alone. If Oshur opens, open a second one. "infrequent rotation" still means it could be open during primetime - even if rarely - and be the only open continent.

Yeah hopefully Oshur doesn't become half as frequent and people still have to randomly put up with it. Being open 1/7th as much on average (once a week it can open) or once a month imho would be ideal.

I think for now infrequent rotation is a good move for Oshur, I played on prime time on Oshur and it was fun. I think the community should be more constructive on giving advice to improve Oshur for the devs.

Haven't played planetside in a while, so it's a nice recap of how things are going lately. It's good to see that the player numbers have stabilised and that they're considering options for Oshur. It's a shame, the dwindling chances of a planetside 3 every coming to fruition, but I still keep my hopes high for a spiritual successor to planetside!

My head cannon is still that the makers of HD2 bought the IP because they are from SoE and didn't want to see Planetside 2 just get sold to whoever, especially since the purchase is roughly correlated with HD2's rise in popularity. Even if that's not the case a man can hope can't he.

This game does what many games do over time and that's add too many complicated and silly things but never take any of it away. So many things in the game were added over the years that changed the game beyond recognition. Will we finally see some of it going? I hope so

@@1roxyfan491 I disagree. Catering the game to the solo player makes the game worse. This is supposed to be about large squad and platoon sized units moving between bases and fighting over bases. Now we just fight over the same base on every map every time. When the game switched to cater to KZbin and Reddit back in 2016 is when the game really became worse. Then they just added to it.

@@1roxyfan491 this game was at its best when it was the fight getting to the base in the first place but now it's all about fighting within the base structure with groups of people who are cert farming over actually progressing. Can't tell you how many times I'm fighting over a base and people are saying to leave the sunderer up because they want to farm over taking the base. Then we just get third party by the other faction. That kills it for me but I do love the game and I do wish it the best for however long it's around 4

The thing is, there's no other game like PlanetSide 2. The fact that you are in ground fighting enemy troops, maybe losing and then some dude just wipe out that enemy platoon with his aircraft then goes out waving its wings is such a cool thing to watch. Once I was one of 3 engs behind a MAX unit that was cleaning "B" in Nason's Defiance, the insane ammount of loud noises makes the experience something way better than any other game i've played before, this is what gunfire should sound in videogames, uncomfortable. One of the funniest games out there.

The reality now is the unkillable game just gave away its plot armour… selling the ip will be the last nail in the coffin. They now licence the op meaning the game cant be up-kept by a handful of vets after a complete stop to development Servers not to expensive in the grand scheme of things, paying an investors dividends will cost a fortune and rise much faster than server costs The best hope for planet-side is a fast death so the new owners need to use the ip to get a return

I hope the new owners actually try to make the game better, instead of just farming off of it. There’s a ton of problems hidden within the game, from the issue of most of the vehicles looking the same for each faction (I’ll excuse the Sunderer, Ant, and the big flying whale, since they are important for spawn points and base building), to how some people are able to put camo on their person, to the fact that a light assault with a couple packs of c4 is more dangerous than a tank. In short, there’s a lot of work to do, but I don’t feel that the new owners need to get on it immediately; just hoping that they DO actually get on it.

well i telll ya story / i buy some expensive stuff include boosters everything running for rest of the year ok so i working hard whole week Mo - Saturday every day i can wait to play for 4-7 hours when i finish always someting bad happend every day. So example: its already 2 years and more what is problem to fix basic stuff like see friends online ? what is problem fix issue with server issue ? what is problem to fix ton of other issues omg so they tell us will be update Sunder ok where it is ??? 3 months ??? they running just on bundles last one has been valentine one ok soo ? St Patrick another one ? so where is that update? Those bigginers on development really mess up game and yes its on purpose ! potencionaly they do stuff like leave it how it is because when people make videos about issues because just want so play it gives them advertisement for free they become rage and later on it swap to new features in game while they try to fix it. Even that there has been events and delay with even says Sorry about that takes them 2 days just post on forum. Those admins they are paid from cosmetic stuff and they just promise people someting someone work on someting etc etc Updates and fixes they can type what they want and later on it broke again and its never ending story We just want that game running nothing else so lets play different game and let them sleep next 11 years.

Proper cross play needs to be in this game. Like, having consoles and pc separated really ruins the player count for the game. Like damn. There isn't a reasonable excuse at this point that crossplay wouldn't work according to the devs. It's over a decade now. It sucks for those who want to play with their cross play friends. They might as well combine servers again. Connery is essentially dead with lag switchers and cheats.

I hope they will do more for frre to paly gamers so that you can get cosmetics for free, for example, convert the basic currency into a premium currency, A nd I know loot of cosmetics are fan made but its sucks when you don't have a job yet to buy something. And remember, not everyone lives in America, in Europe, people live with families for up to 30 years because houses and apartments are damn expensive and finding a job is Hard.

Over 90% of my 1500 man Outfit hate Oshur. Pop just goes to near zero when Oshur is open alone. Capture the flag is also universally hated. Getting rid of these and stopping cheating would save it. Planet side 3 would be relatively inexpensive w latest engines like Unreal
