Read Vampire Hunter D. Its a bit of sci-fi along with fantasy and honestly I don't like how often the author writes about just how good looking D is but it's a really cool world with interesting vampire lore.

Hopefully it's grimdark. Currently in a VTM group using old system (2nd ed) Victorian era, and have to embrace our darkside, albeit some of us more than others. Miss vampires being a threat, scary, and more beastial. Too many iterations of the suave and/or benign vamps in pop culture. Looking forward to Noseferatu this winter as it seems to be more dark.

Im more hoping for nobledark. I find grimdark settings spiral into grimstupid settings due to writers being up their own ass. As much as I like WOD and 40k they have a lot of stupid lore and mechanic decisions that make me wanna smack someone. I like actually making a difference in the world and having my choices matter.

Given my disappointment with the recent Witcher 4 announcement (I still think CDPR can pull it off given the quality of Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 after Phantom Liberty, but I have my doubts since it seems lore bending/breaking)... I am extremely excited for this. I'm hoping they take aim at a narrative heavy experience like CDPR provides, but do so in a way where I don't have to be worried if I am going to be buying an activist project rather than a video game.

@@MyNindo2000 Yeah - even if The Witcher 3 devs were gone (which some of them are and others are still in place)... they made Phantom Liberty, which I thought was excellent. Even better than the Cyberpunk 2077 base game, which was pretty damn good after it got patched up. So they have the talent to do something special. Just not a fan of the whole 'Ciri underwent the mutations' thing. But Dawnwalker has promise. My biggest concern for Rebel Wolves is that they seem to have snagged some great talent - like lead quest designers and game directors... but do they have the narrative/writing team to make something that is the quality of a Witcher 3.

I only hope that vampires play an important role in the game's setting, and that we will meet A LOT of them (vampires being a separate race with its own culture would be awesome, too) I fear vampires might get completely sidelined and be barely there in the game and all those arts are just false advertising. Oh, and I hope the main character is a vampire or a dhampir. I don't want to play as a werewolf. 13th January can't come soon enough

I don't think this game will borrow from ancient slavic tales, but I'd be very happy to see more eastern europe inspired vampire stories. Those old tales are quite amazing and inspired a lot of western gothic horror stories like Carmilla... and she was already a kind of dawnwalker, she was able to walk during the day.

Now THIS is a game (and video) I'm interested in. I've been running a Pathfinder 2e campaign for my boys from work every weekend about vampires. Not super original or deep with vampire knowledge though. Basically it's heavily inspired by Dragon Age Origins, but instead of darkspawn, the world's under siege by intelligent ghouls. And instead of being Grey Wardens - an order of dark heroes cursed with the taint for immunity to the blight, they're Midnight Lords - an order of dark heroes cursed with vampirism for immunity to joining the undead ghoul hordes. Shit is edge-kino.

@@MyNindo2000 Thanks man. My players have been gassing me up for a while to try to turn the campaign into a simple little indie crpg. Whether a visual novel, text adventure, or RPG maker game. I'll admit I bought a cheap dev software off Steam for $30 (RPG Architect) and have added it's KZbin tutorial videos to my daily internet diet. I'm under no delusions of grandeur that I'd be one of the 1% that finishes such a project, but it's been really fun learning about the nuts and bolts of making games (even in a simplified noob-friendly form).

From the lines that we got from the discord it seems like a plague might be going on so I wonder if these characters are worshipers of a rival vampire and the character in the middle is a victim of this disease. The disease could be turning people into monsters.
