it is a bullshit grift saying the the HOA is for the "good of the community" It is applied by developers to get more money after the sale of the property.

You sign their contract when you buy a home in an HOA neighborhood

But what laws actually give them this power? What laws am I breaking if I just ignore an HOA?

I came to this video because i saw a video of some guy who got fined for brown grass. They said they would fine him 30$ every week until it was green. The thing was that the grass would turn brown for 2-3months after the first frost. The guy had to get grass paint and spray his entire lawn. I think thats absolute bullshit.

I hope my generation gets rid of this tyrannical dumb tradition. HOA main goal is to keep the housing market in a neighborhood largely the same, as if the house market needs more artificial fake growth. If you’re in a HOA or help them I hope your mother doesn’t hate you.

According to data from the Community Associations Institute (CAI) National, a whopping 90% of people living in HOAs are satisfied with their communities. This high level of satisfaction highlights the benefits of active community involvement and good governance. While it might seem like HOAs wield immense power, the reality is that they are elected by and accountable to the residents. Staying informed and engaged ensures that the HOA works for the community’s best interests, leading to a happier and more harmonious living environment.

Bump that, if I want to live somewhere and there was a HOA, there would be an immediate novation sent out to their attorney.

I should be surprised if they can do anything. What happened to the individual? How far the apple falls from the tree. Are they at least elected? This is insane. What if you live somewhere without one? Can they just sweep in and bring one with them? If I bought a house there, could people move in around me and start enforcing arbitrary rules with fines? I thought loads of you had guns? Bad idea. The whole thing is a bad idea. lol

HOA boards might seem powerful, but they’re elected by the community! Most people in HOAs are happy with their setup. HOAs can't just appear out of nowhere; they require a community vote. And no, neighbors can’t suddenly impose random rules and fines. Staying informed and involved keeps things running smoothly! 😄

@@ManagedByAffinity What if ive lived in the community for the longest? Can they just establish an HOA and setup new rules that ive never had to follow? What if i think all of there rules are complete bullshit and want nothing to do with the HOA, am i still forced to follow those rules. And who exactly enforces these fines and rules. Can they call the police if i decide to ignore them?

HOAs are bigger than God.

While HOAs might feel more influential than divine forces at times, it's important to remember that, unlike God, HOA board members actually have to get elected! They can be voted out if they don't perform their duties well. This is why staying informed and involved in your community is crucial. Your active participation ensures that the HOA remains accountable and that decisions benefit everyone. After all, a well-informed community is a strong community.
