Teach For America

Күн бұрын

Imani and Ilayha are speaking out. And Teach For America is proud to support them. We believe that all kids should have access to a safe and affirming school environment.
Unfortunately, many don't right now.
Did you know that LGBT youth are more than two times as likely as non-LGBT youth to say they have been verbally harassed, and twice as likely to say they have been physically assaulted, kicked or shoved at school?
Worse yet, LGBT youth are more likely than non-LGBT youth to report that they do not have an adult they can talk to about personal problems.
Teach For America refuses to let a student's sexuality limit their opportunities for success.
If you agree, speak up by signing and sharing our pledge. Our goal is 25,000 signatures by the time school starts this fall. Show our students that you want them to feel safe at school.
Sign the Pledge at www.safeclassro....

Recently there was a girl in my year 6 class, let's call her L who came out to me, but I'm straight. I politely explained that I'm straight and I had never had an love interest in girls. Then another girl, let's call her A, was near and shouted,"EW!!! L SAID SHE LIKES LILY! ". (I'm lily). Then. My best friends came over and were like, " what? That disturbing "! " what's wrong with you?!" And all that rubbish. By the way, L had been picked on since reception so this was awful. This happened in march, and until the end of the year, the whole class and some of the other classes too joked about how disgusting it was and made fun of her. Then, it got as worse as it could get... In the beginning of the summer holidays, my mum explained what had gone on( WARNING, YOU MAY CRY LIKE I DID) she told me that my BEST FRIENDS who only occasionally said rude things had turned on her, (especially this one girl that we'll call T) made a group chat saying she's a b****, a alien, a lesbian and sending death threats. Even people who I didn't expect at all.... Then, today I searched on my mums phone and saw the texts that were sent, it WAS horrendous!!!! They had made videos on TIKTOK, IG and other platforms talking s*** about her! Her mum said an awful thing that happened, this is her exact words: "They pulled her arms and **** (the boy who she used to have a crush on) and forced them togethre, then afterwards they let **** go but all laughed at her! What are wrong with these idiot kids??" My mum also said in a text that they're a bunch of s***heads, I couldn't agree more, especially about T! T also sent a video just legit saying on tiktok, "hang itself and die *smiles* " like WTFFF??!! 😕😑😲😲 I'm gonna try to slowly NOT be her friend anyone, cuz NOOOO! Even if you hate someone, you DONT EVERRR do that like wtf, she's now got depression! So yes, this DOES happen, and were not Sven in secondary school! (High school!) She does not want to go back to school bc 3 people who said they HATE her are going there. So, be careful who you make friends with, and IF THERYRE LIKE THIS THEN LERGIT SAY F*** OFF, THEY SHOULD NOT DO THAT, CUZ THEY RE CLEARLY JUST SALTY AND HAVE NO BRAINNN! I'm also gon say this to finish, a person can shed their skin, but they can NEVER hide what they truly are: a SNAKE that always has an opinion on everything😉

slowly? I guess you're young so it can be scary to back up your own opinions against people who you considered friends, but trust that school ends and your honesty and values are worth standing up for. Which is how you make TRUE friends instead of those assholes. That kind of bullying leads to suicide, self harm, drug addiction, and/or alcohol abuse. Even though school is fleeting, these things do impact T's development as well as your own.

Sam P I’m unsure of what I am at the moment but all my family is against lgbtq only some of my cousins aren’t against it you know gen z, I just had a argument with my brother Bc he asked me if I had any lesbians or gay friends. He went on to say that “that’s a sin” and so many more things. It broke my heart that someone is so narrow minded, so I argued with him but he just left and it made me realized how shitty my whole family is. But I’d say to fuck everybody and be you Bc there are people that will support you just ignore the haters Bc in the end ur living ur best life.

Exactly my point.... You don't feel comfortable around someone that doesn't feel comfortable around you because of your choice.... You basically explained it... So why do you feel that the person is being biased towards you for no reason when the reason is as clear as day and even if they are being biased so are you.... Sighs so confusing..... And yet.... So simple

I will help you despite our political differences. Here is my advice...the choice you make WILL be life changing so make sure you really want this. The Democrats and left wing control the media so just putting it out there that this doesnt have to be hard to figure out. Just look in your pants. I dont hate your people. I cant hate what I dont understand. One day hopefully I will understand
