I've lost 50 pounds over the last four months, and like the video stated, it was easy at first. The pounds literally just melted away, all I would do is walk or jog for an hour 4-5 days a week and have one meal. I was incredulous at the results and berated myself for not starting to lose weight sooner. It seemed so easy, I was highly motivated and had minimal cravings. At around 30 pounds lost, I felt like I hit a plateau, the weight loss slowed, and the cravings(especially late at night) came back in full force. After relapsing I doubled down and made it to losing 40 pounds, but the cravings came back even more intensely, after struggling with that for a while, I pushed on and reached the 50 pound milestone. I still get intense cravings, and it's really hard, but this video helps me understand why and puts things into perspective. Thanks.

you should do a refeed (idk if that is how its spelled) once in a while. I lost around 60 lbs and every three weeks or so I increase my calorie intake for around 3 days. Nothing too crazy but like I add a hamburger for one day. A bag of chips for another, A burrito for another etc. It keeps me going.

Try resistance training (weights lifting or bodyweight exercise). The increase in muscle mass will mean you can consume more calories anyways. Restriction diets and constant cardio just makes a person into a body builder who only does cut phases.
@grolfe32103 жыл бұрын
Not mentioned is that if you lose 50 pounds and then walk the same distance as you did when you were 50 pounds heavier, you will burn up far fewer calories! Same as a small car uses less gas to go the same distance as a big one. So you do need to keep pushing at it. But then if you walked an hour the new 50lb lighter you can jog for an hour? Ramp it up. You mention cravings. Is this for a particular food or is it basically that you are hungry? You need to accept that where you were before the weight loss was not right and that you need to make permeant changes beyond denying yourself food and jogging. One meal a day is mad! You should easily be able to have 3 decent meals per day and still lose weight. If you are just eating one meal of junk food instead of 3 meals of junk food then you have not fixed things properly. Good whole food. Cut out Alcohol, all sugar, and really reduce fat. Dairy is a bad habit too. Good whole carbs are fine, mostly it is the sugar or fat added to them that is the problem. Eat raw food rather than cooked, whole rather than liquified and make everything rather than buying anything ready made. Learn what is in food. Eat you meals at a table while doing nothing else, enjoy your food. Enjoy burning it off however you do it.

Its good that you are trying. But pro tip: get a routine. A boring routine. Body becomes fat after the hormones go awry. And the hormones go awry when our cycadian rythm is disrupted. Turns out our endocrine system regulates our mood and cravings, which is only regulated by a proper sleep cycle. Work with ur cycadian rythm. Wake up an hour before sunrise. Go to sleep within an hour of sunset. In the meanwhile, make sure you take out 40 mins for some sort of physical activity: some cardio, some zumba, some planks. Preferable if it is done early morning after having an apple. Everything will fall back into right place if you make sure to wake up early morning. Just switch your binge-watching personal time from late night to early morning. That will get you on the right track.

Also working out even if it’s just 3 days a week for an hour you will feel so much better and the results will show in due time.

For me the tricks to losing and keeping off weight: -Do small changes gradually: this is a marathon, not a sprint. Do slight adjustments every day means they could be maintained over time. -Eat a little less than I burn: only eat till I'm not hungry, not till I'm full. -Befriend slight hunger: be a bit hungry for awhile before I eat. Like intermittent fasting, but not as extreme. -Reduce sugar intake: I pretty much cut out soft drink, though still eat chocolate once in awhile. -Use belly fat as a gauge: if I squeeze my belly, and there's still some fat, I could eat a little less. -Exercise everyday: does not need to be overboard, even a few minutes every day is good.

I started my weight loss journey at about 16 years old. I am barely 19. I have been on and off because of life just happening, and I’ve lost 63 pounds so far. I started at 230, weight is 167 now. Current goal is 150. I am 5’2, so my height and weight combined made me feel like trash. I’ve dealt with depression and just a very long list of mental illness diagnosis as well as intensive therapy since I was 10. In the last 2 years I’ve been on a very steady journey. One thing I learned is that overeating makes me feel terribly nauseous and sick, to identify when it is time to stop. Doing it all the time made me feel miserable but I would keep going because I love LOVE food and have a binge eating disorder, so my lifestyle changes and some other mental BS I had to process gave me some handle on it and it’s pretty much under control right now! When I would go up the stairs I needed at minimum two minutes to catch a breather before I could talk properly. Now I can go up and down like it’s nothing. Not even after going up and down 10 times. My joint pain has lessened. I’ve realized how great working out consistently makes me feel. I have burn out sometimes like any normal person and shit is still tough, but I’d be lying if I said I want to stop completely. I look forward to doing it now. This journey has taught me soooo much about myself and my want to treat my body right; even to love myself when I hate it most and to recognize how hard it works for me. I crave vegetables now. It is some major rewiring. It doesn’t make everything perfect but it sure helps. It’s just insane.

It's almost three years later and I've lost 83kg (183 lbs.) and feel much, much better! I went from a size 3XL to a size M. When I crave calories I go for healthy sources like fruit and nuts, instead of sugar and oil. And I try to eat as many vegetables as I can. I’m 260 Lbs, and I’m struggling to stay motivated. (Cliche I know.) but I’m aiming to lose 80Lbs within a year. I’m just wondering if there’s any psychological tricks to stay motivated, and what was it that kept you motivated.
@mattkay73347 жыл бұрын
I found that you can only stay motivated if it comes from yourself. You are the only person that will always be able to keep yourself accountable. It is different for everyone, but what finally gave me the motivation to lose weight was when I realized how much weight I had gained in 2016. When I was big, I didn't care what my weight was, but seeing in retrospect how quickly I was gaining weight, it scared me and still scares me. You have to figure out at what point enough is enough. At what point do you decide that whatever habit you have, be it too many calories or not enough physical activity or both, has gone to far and has to stop. It really isn't easy, but if you find a way of eating and exercising that works for you, it can be done. That's what I had to do, is make my own plan/diet, because all the diet out there aren't custom enough for most people, and don't take into account your specific needs and challenges, but you can. If I can do it, anyone can, I'm just some regular guy that stopped eating so much junk food and started exercising and eating right.
@babymookie71767 жыл бұрын
Matt Kay For a regular guy you have some good advice. Oh, and I can definitely relate to the fear of gaining more weight. I’ve thought about that for awhile. And I’m totally convinced about losing weight. I’m just at a point where I need to either focus on losing weight right now, or sort out my life before embarking on the weight loss train. Lol, guess it wouldn’t hurt starting now though. Thanks for the reply! Now lets all hope we can stick to these New Year resolutions.

I look and feel great, and have control over my health for the first time in my 75 years! I can live with this diet until I check out.
@CHAOS881003 жыл бұрын
I lost 36lbs (16.3kg) this year, hopefully 40lbs by the end of this month. Only about 5 months of actually being on a diet. If you hit a plateau, I think the trick is to take a break from your diet but don't eat beyond your calculated metabolic rate. I took a break in my diet from June - Sept and did not gain any weight, and when I continued the diet in Oct, I started to lose weight quickly again. You'll get hard cravings and feel almost sick the first week of starting your diet, like a brain fog. After that it will subside. Make 1 day a week cheat day to keep your metabolism in check. Cut out sugar and refined carbs from your diet. Eat about 1500 calories a day. You'll lose weight even sitting at a desk. Make water your new favourite drink (or tea or coffee - with stevia, not sugar). Caffeine is good because stimulants reduce your appetite.

Five things I’ve learnt since losing 190lbs. 1. There is never and end. I’ll always have to watch what I eat. I’ll always have to exercise to maintain the weight loss. 2. The moment I hit my goal weight there was no fanfare. No parade. No joyous celebration. No one actually gives a shit that you lost the weight. They only tell you if you start to regain or if you eat something they think is not “diet” approved. 3. Don’t expect the weight loss to fix you. It’s just fat. Losing it won’t make a difference to your happiness even if your unhappiness revolved around your weight. 4. Being at a healthy weight won’t mean you are healthy. It will just mean that doctors now don’t have a reason to blame your ailments on your weight. 5. Being obese doesn’t make you unlovable to others it just makes you unloveable to yourself. Love you now to want to be a better human not have a better body.

Losing weight can have a significant impact on both the body and brain. Here are some of the changes that occur: Reduced inflammation: Excess weight can cause chronic inflammation in the body, which can lead to various health problems. Losing weight can help reduce inflammation and lower the risk of conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. Improved insulin sensitivity: Losing weight can improve the body's ability to use insulin, which helps regulate blood sugar levels. This can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Lowered blood pressure: Excess weight can increase blood pressure, which can strain the heart and increase the risk of heart disease. Losing weight can help lower blood pressure and reduce this risk. Reduced joint pain: Carrying excess weight can put a lot of strain on the joints, leading to pain and discomfort. Losing weight can help reduce this strain and alleviate joint pain. Improved sleep: Losing weight can also improve the quality of sleep. Sleep apnea, a common condition in overweight individuals, can improve with weight loss, leading to better sleep and overall health. Improved mood: Losing weight can have a positive impact on mental health and mood. Studies have shown that weight loss can improve symptoms of depression and anxiety. Improved brain function: Losing weight can also improve brain function. Studies have shown that weight loss can improve cognitive function, memory, and attention. It's important to note that weight loss should always be approached in a healthy and sustainable way, with a focus on balanced nutrition and regular exercise. Rapid weight loss or fad diets can have negative impacts on both the body and brain.

Plus fat and protein fill you up much more quickly while carbs spike your insulin and give you cravings when you're not actually hungry.

As a male in mid-50s, I have lost around 130 lbs in about five months three months ago under the regular supervision of a medical doctor and a licensed fitness trainer by applying a well-thought out but standard diet (no pills, no chemicals, ate three meals a day) and by starting to exercise regularly which increased over time. I did not have any apparent illnesses, but I was morbidly obese. Now I am fit pretty much by any standard with a BMI of slightly less than 25 and a waistline measuring less than half my height. My urge to eat increased a bit (not much though) as I lost weight but the motivation coming from the benefits of the weight loss was so much that I had no trouble continuing with the weight loss program.

What I noticed going from about 95kgs to 60 (I'm a pretty short guy) -I can actually do my chores without sweating (I used to sweat just from crawling under my desk to plug something in) -I can sleep on my back -I look way better particularly cause I can now wear clothes that fit -Face looks a lot better instead of a round blob -My bones are a lot more exposed which causes some discomfort sometimes (particularly sitting on hard surfaces) -I get cold easier -Movement in general is so much easier Of course everything happens gradually but the difference is huge when you have something to compare to, like old belts/clothes or photos. Very much worth the effort and I regret not doing it earlier And I did almost all of it by simply counting my calories and eating less. Sure cardio helps and is good for other reasons as well but it's much easier to simply not eat something than to burn those calories by exercise

i have just reached the part where I’ve lost 10% of my weight, I was losing 1.5kg a week at one point, but now it’s tailed off to 0.5. I still have another 20% of my weight to lose before I hit my target. Gotta admit it does frustrate me seeing the weight loss stall for days at a time no matter how hard I try. Just gotta keep going.

@@khankahn552 you probably want to look into exercises, both cardio and muscle building. Cardio helps burn more calorie over the long run (also increase stamina for exercises) and building muscle will also help burn calorie because bigger muscle need more energy. Extreme fasting is probably an almost sure-fail method, because how long can you keep the ridiculous diet plan? 1 month? 3 month? 1 year? You are going to be back into the 3 meals a day, better to learn and build the habit to eat healthier and how to burn calories consistently until you hit the target and stay that way.

Whole grain, hearty foods help with the cravings because it delays digestion & lessens the natural spike in blood sugar when you eat. Another way to do this is to eat slower, like eat one apple slice to full mush before you cut the next. Also, eat meals as soon as you start feeling hungry, don't wait.

I’m averaging 1.5-2 pounds lost a week which is good and steady progress. It’s hard but rewarding. My recommendation is cut out extra snacks, all desserts and junk food, and eating out. Add more liquids to your diet, like soups and shakes. Have fruit smoothies with a responsible amount of sugar or a chocolate protein shake instead if you’re craving something sweet or dessert like. Keep a big ass water bottle, like half a gallon to a gallon, and keep refilling and drinking constantly. Center your diet around PFVF-protein, fiber, veggies and healthy fats. Go low in everything else, low carb, calorie, salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats & oils. Finally, exercise 3-5 times a week.

I've went from 260 to 210 lbs. in nine weeks as a 6'0" male. I've been able to avoid metabolism crashes by supplementing with sterculia oil, stearic acid (the waxy part of saturated fats) and Yohimbe. Also by only eating one meal a day tops, doing several 96-120h fasts, and doing a combination of 4 days of aerobic exercise of walking 6-8mi a night (my job makes me do this) and 4 days of HIIT + weightlifting. No fructose or ethanol other than the small amounts that get added to vitamin gummies, no seed oils, no fast food, and very limited PUFAs.

@@Landstalker1999 No. Your human-growth hormone spikes by 700% of its baseline around 36 hours after a fast. You will eventually lose muscle as your body starts requiring animo acids it can't produce on its own, but it will take weeks. Not 4 days.

After losing nearly 4 stone I definitely feel the difference. More energy, better mindset. Started by cutting out the worst foods, high sugar high fat stuff like cake, crisps, chocolate, biscuits, etc. Then gradually over weeks cut out more shit like pastry, fatty meats, processed foods, etc. It's so true what the vid said, once I'd detoxed from the crap food I no longer had cravings for them. @chfgn3 жыл бұрын
You and pretty much everybody, friend. Take a look at the statistics: losing weight and keeping it off is virtually impossible. Realistically, it simply can’t be done; almost everybody eventually fails and gains it all back. The only people who beat the odds are those who remain single-mindedly obsessed with their weight for every moment of every day for the rest of their lives. The good news is this: being overweight isn’t as unhealthy as most people think it is. It’s perfectly possible to be fat and healthy. Don’t worry about losing weight, focus on a healthy lifestyle. Eat reasonable stuff (you know what is and isn’t reasonable already, don’t let anyone sell you on an overly specific fad diet), get some small amount of activity in your average day (a 20 minute walk on your lunch break is probably plenty), and throw your scale in the garbage because it can’t tell you one damn thing about how healthy you are.
@fitforfreelance3 жыл бұрын
@@chfgn I disagree with you pretty hard on that first part. If you lose weight sustainably by following the process you're describing, you can lose weight and keep it off. Weight loss is realistic if you have realistic focus. You don't have to obsess about your image, scale weight, or all or nothing diets. Speak hope =)

After losing 36 pounds due to my stomach condition (Ulcerative Colitis and IBS), I have found that the cold affects me more than it used to. That extra fat must have insulted my body. Thankfully I was overweight and so losing all that weight didn't make me underweight. Now I stay at a healthy BMI and stopped losing and gaining weight with my current medication and diet. I no longer have extra pressure on my joints when exercising and my knees don't pop like they used to during powerwalks. I lost 181 pounds through diet and exercise. Here’s a few things I learned that they don’t tell you: 1 - You get cold really easily. 2 - You can’t swim the same way. You almost have to re-learn how. 3 - Your shoe size changes. The length stays the same, but your width and instep shrink. You may have to get new shoes. 4 - Your hat size changes 5 - You’ll be spending _a lot_ on new clothes. If you plan on losing more weight, keep some of your older clothes on hand until they’re too big to be wearable. That way, you won’t be constantly playing catch-up with your size and spending more than you have to. 6 - You’ll get drunk a lot quicker. I shit you not, be careful with this one. If you try drinking the same way you did when you were fat, you’re going to have a bad time. Or a really good time if that’s your thing. 7 - Losing weight is not hard; it’s just tedious. It takes time, discipline, and commitment. Yes, it sucks but it pays off in the long run. 8 - Water adds weight, but not the way you think. Weight from food is stored fat. Weight from water is merely the physical presence of the water itself that hasn’t been absorbed yet. For example, if you weigh yourself, chug a bottle of water, then weight yourself again, you’ll be a pound or two heavier. It’s not that you’ve gained fat in those few seconds, there’s just a pound or two of water that wasn’t there before.

I lost 19.4 kg/42.8 lbs in a year when I came back to my parents' house. No exercise whatsoever. Just doing some chores like washing dishes or doing laundry. I would put the plates back in the dish rack one by one and fold laundry one by one. I did it almost every day. I mostly ate mom's cooking and occasionally ate instant noodles. However I couldn't stop eating and drinking chocolate so I compensated by eating less rice (I'm Southeast Asian so rice is very important 😋). Now 1,5 years in I had only gained 3 kg max and would quickly lose it. My motivation was if I lost some weight I could eat whatever I wanted, but I accidentally ended up losing that much weight 😆 TL;DR You can definitely lose weight by doing chores every day and making small adjustment to your eating habit.
