I enjoyed Red Dead Redemption so one simple reason, variety. There is never a dull moment in the game where I want to just skip a certain part. Rockstar constantly kept me interacting with the changing world around John Marston. Which is really difficult to do for a boring Wild West game, but they pulled it off perfectly. Meeting new people, hearing about their stories, and what they will do in the future makes the world feel connected yet unique. Some are fighting for freedom, some trying to grow their ranch, go grave digging, fly a plane, etc. Even outside the missions and quests, there is gambling, movies, bounty hunting, and an large world to explore for animals. The experiences John faces in this game is like anybody else, and there is a reason while he is here (like Landon Ricketts, Bonnie, and Irish). Everyone has a story, and your living in one, learning off of others and going after one goal, your family.

I'm not gonna lie, when I first heard about RDR before any trailers came out I thought it was going to be a flop. I really revered GTA IV(still do) and wanted another GTA. I thought that the idea of Rockstar doing a, as I put it years ago, "A wild west GTA" would be too ambitious to actually be commercially successful. I'm glad I was wrong. @@christopheraguilar8273 it met my expectations. In fact in my opinion it's better than the first in many ways. I think the story is better. I think Arthur is a better protagonist (the best rockstar has made) Arthur learns his mistakes over the game and realizes that what he has been doing is wrong and wants to help fix his mistakes. I love that the map is bigger and more diverse. I love the minigames better tho i do wish a few came back from rdr. I like the mechanics in rdr2 better. And just overall i think rdr2 was better. Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be absolutely amazing. I have only recently (in the past few days) started playing Red Dead Redemption. When I owned older consoles, I honestly didn't pay too much attention to it. Then I got into PC gaming about 4 years ago, and it became my only gaming source. Then, I watched a show called "Hell on Wheels" (great show btw), and it made me want to play an open world western game. What better open world western game than Red Dead Redemption? To my dismay, it was not on PC. So, now I own a PS4 and Im playing Red Dead Redemption through PlayStation Now. Yeah the service isn't that great but its all I got so. Also preordered RDR2. So hyped. The game truly is amazing, and I cant believe that I missed out on it so much.

Why did I like Red Dead Redemption? I'll tell you. In a time where even the most harmless, passing comment can be called a hate crime, one sometimes wishes to harken back to a time in history where conviction and determination stood above all else. The Old West, both as a period in real-world history, and as a fantasy setting brings to mind the roughest, toughest men in history - men that carved their way through the savage world with little more than the gun on their hip and the beliefs they had in their heart. It was ugly. It was hard. It was real... I love Red Dead Redemption, not only for the story and gameplay, but also because it takes the player to a primal, natural state where reservations and sensitivities fall by the wayside to simple survival instinct. The world the shootists of the day knew was dying, and they were clinging to life with everything they had. Red Dead Redemption gave voice to a feeling we all have... That is why I love that game.

This game became My life at one point. It consumed Me. The majesty of the story mode carried on into the online mode for Me. Starting a character and having a young mind, easy to think of a role play, hearing the gun cylinders roll as I leveled up and getting guns and steads and forming My own gang of random friends and strangers along the road in a game that felt massive at the time. Its funny. When You first get games like Red dead, GTA 4/5 or Skyrim, You feel so tiny compared to the scope of the map. The game just feels endless and it blows you away to think... that mountain I'm barely able to make out, I can go over there. In fact, that was exactly My thought when I first went online. It was one of the most thrilling gaming experiences starting My first posse and watching it rise to the top of the leaderboards. Picking up random players along the way, giving them better horses so They could keep up as well as new weapons and over all just being cool with each other and taking on the west. That is the magical random fun that GTA 5 failed to capture in favor of pandering to assholes and mayhem and is why GTA 4 and RDR will always in My opinion shit on GTA 5. That is obviously not the point but I feltl ike pointing it out. Red Dead has a special place in My heart and it will probably always stay a number 1 for Me. Most of My pre teen years where spent addictively playing this game. Not a good thing at the time but in hindsight I don't regret that addiction.

Man looking back on this after playing RDR2, it’s crazy how much R* improved upon. Remember how cool it felt to shoot animals in the first game and how revolutionary that the game had over 30 species of animals to find. 30. Now RDR2 has over 150 lol. Freaking nuts

I have played and beat this game so many times over the years. The reason I love this game. Is for many reasons. Most of what you have already stated. So I won’t repeat those. The main reason no matter how many times I play this game I always find something new. Try something with in the game physics. You basically can make up your own story. You can hunt for days you can help all the side quests or the random in counters. You can bounty hunting. You can become Hero or villain. It is almost never ending. To me this has been the Greatest game ever made.

I honestly think the narrative is the only thing kept me going after a few hours into the game. Most of the characters are excellent, the dialgoues are very well written, and the wild west setting is breathtaking, but the gameplay is so repetitive. Most of the missions involve riding or driving somewhere and then shoot everything that moves in a restrictive and linear setting.

Honestly, I hated the story until I got to Blackwater area. It was the same shit for San Andreas & IV. Chase this guy, oh wait he moved, now chase him here where you couldn't previously come because the bridge was closed but now that you gotta chase this guy there guess what, it's open.
@deriznohappehquite8 жыл бұрын
The most fun thing was hunting, IMO. All of the Rockstar studios need to work on their level design.
@charlieni6458 жыл бұрын
I think GTA5 is a worthy first step when it comes to mission designs. Many missions feel just as linear and restrictive, but there are a lot of plannings and decision makings that make me feel I am involved instead of just going with whatever the game throws at me.

I am still playing this game I'm 30 now and I'm trying to get my wife into this game b4 RDR2 comes out hope we get to see a young John my theory is if he shows he kills the new guy in the end lol we will have to see.

I was very sceptical about this game, when my sister bought it. It was right after I played GTA V and I was like "Huh? 2010 Western game? How this can be better than GTA V? but let's give a try.." I hate myself for being that fucking wrong... RDR is like a book.( I wish there was one).. at least for me... I was living the story with John, sometimes got too emotional, (at the end I had absolute emotional breakdown), but I've never thought that video game can get me like this. Also John is just a brilliant character.. Although he had the past as he had, that he couldnt change, but he wanted to do everything to have a better future for him, Abbi and especially for Jack.. He was really dedicated to his family. He was so fucking betrayed by those goverment bastards :/ Today, I'm so thankful to my sister, that she brought this game home.. because there isnt a day when i dont play this game. And Johnny will always and forever be my personal hero .. :)
