Force multiplier safety with Roanoke, my favorite segment. In all seriousness, own a firearm is a right that comes with a lot of responsibility that too few people take seriously.
@iriswaters2 күн бұрын
Yeah. Deeply, deeply frustrating to hang out with suburbanite friends with guns and watch their terrible habits, having grown up in the backwoods and taking hunter safety courses as a kid, along with drilling from my mom on the topic. The gun is always loaded. The gun is always loaded. Even if you know for a fact the gun is not loaded, the gun is always loaded. This isn't because I think you're stupid and didn't check, this is because you're building habits around how you hold the gun, how you interact with it. Habits you build while you know the gun isn't loaded can seep into your general behavior. No, Ted, I don't care if you just checked the chamber, I do not want you sweeping me. Please do not.
@FOXY__GAMING192 күн бұрын
I grew up hunting squirrels and deer with my dad, gun safety is common sense to me. load gun only after entering gate to the hunting land, fully unload before exiting. safety on at all times until you're ready to shoot, but safety can also (rarely) not properly work. you can drop your gun with the safety on and there is still a chance (granted its not common, but still possible) for the gun to fire. above all else, NEVER let the barrel of your gun drift anywhere near another person in your hunting party, best to keep it pointed more toward the ground. It never matters if someone says the gun is unloaded, you check it, check again, and check one last time and leave the chamber open before putting it away. and for the love of everything good in this world, keep your damn ammo locked up away from the gun! you never know who will visit you at home. if your ammo or gun is out in the open and not locked up, then anyone can get hurt by it. I hate the fact that so many people don't take the precautions, and eventually that gets someone hurt.

@@iriswatersmy dad never let us have toy guns as kids. I hated it when I was little but appreciate it now. A gun is a tool and should never ever be treated as a toy no matter what.
@iriswaters2 күн бұрын
@@Panda-cute yeah, Idk how I stand on that. I would certainly never second guess a parent going either way with that. I think the negatives of toy guns are probably pretty mild compared to many other things, but I can definitely see how they do end up a negative. On the other hand I can see parents not wanting to deny kids access to a social activity that would help them bond with other kids. Definitely should be balanced with lessons about the danger of real guns. And in balance it would probably be better for the future of the species if fewer kids grew up associating fun and deadly violence.

Just a healthy reminder of firearm safety below: Years ago, I was with an ex of mine who's father had a rifle under his bed. She showed me this rifle and jokingly aimed it at me. I pushed it away from my face and took it from her. As I was putting it back under his bed (it had no gun case). The trigger snagged on something and the gun went off. Blew a hole in the baseboard about 3 inches around and went into the next room. Lesson: Treat EVERY gun as if it were loaded.

I always hated the "As an empath..." people, I have an overdeveloped or very strong sense of empathy, whatever term you want to call it, and it's not great. For example, If a friend is telling me about something bad that happened to them I will often start to feel physically ill, or really depressed, which makes it kinda hard to be a good supportive friend sometimes. I've never come across something that I'd consider an advantage to it.
@giin97Күн бұрын
Like most things in life, too much of a good thing is just as bad as too little. People who rave about being highly empathetic, I suspect are actually lacking empathy, and the endorphin surge for successfully relating to someone emotionally has addicted them to the experience of "feeling" with someone. They don't care about you, they just want to "feel" with you.

Another classic from Weird Films with Roanoke. What a film review channel this is.

A couple things: Family Annihilation would be an amazing metal hand name. This was certainly one of the best videos ever, the jokes were on point and finally it makes me feel better about going for my masters and PhD now knowing that we are the same age and you're talking about going back for your masters in virology. It makes me feel less out of place

I, too, have a love for corny horror and dumb fun action movies, and love this channel for introducing me to a ton of movies that are just so fun to watch. perhaps one day you will discover the absolute experience that is The Jurassic Dead.

Complaints of this becoming a film review channel, not entirely off the mark. HOWEVER, really grateful that you DO cover the movie so that I don't have to watch it to get the rest of it =D

The memes in this, love it. I can only assume in the far future, future people will only communicate with memes that mean whole sentences and phrases like Egyptian hieroglyphs and eastern characters.

Roanoke, just a quick thought for a future idea, how about the giant ants from "THEM!" Classic movie, could be fun.
