Can you look in the biology of Beetlejuice or the mask lol
@grantpflum68442 ай бұрын
The Necromongers worship death. The process to become a necromonger, where you get the two spike's driven into your neck, kills off a lot of the normal biological processes resulting in the person having reduced emotions and sterility. Its why the necromongers refer to anyone outside of their order as breeders. Threeface took this process even further by taking a pilgrimage to the necromonger underworld, their version of mecca/land of the dead, and became something known as a holy half dead. Its why he has all the freaky soul powers. By saying that they should promote him to full dead Dame Vaako is actually saying that they should assassinate him and take his place because, according to necromonger law, you keep what you kill.
@grantpflum68442 ай бұрын
Important to note that Dame Vaako is not burning her eyes. She is lining her eyes with coal, an actual cosmetic practice that dates all the way back to ancient egypt and is something she actually did in the movie. They just added the smoke for a bit of theatrical flare.

I will add that the Director's Cut of Chronicles of Riddick adds so much more to the "lore" of Furia which the normal movie just doesn't bother with. Especially the fight on the burning planet. Riddick didn't get knocked out by the blast of the gun. He actually channeled the power of Furians. It is worth watching over the regular movie.

Also they can destroy an entire planet 40k exterminatus style. Separately in fairness to the 'space ship flies fine in space when confronted with solar radiation vs has trouble in atmosphere' I imagine an atmosphere that oscillates between 1000 degrees on a daily basis probably produces a lot of fucked up turbulence and makes landing a pain in the ass. So if I remember correctly, I may be mistaken, the reason the necromongers don’t keep the planets is because they are “on a crusade to the underverse” and don’t need/want the planets because the only way to get to the underverse is to die in service of the head marshal. I.E. they need to keep finding new planets to conquer and die on to reach their afterlife, where the head marshal repopulates his army from the converts/conscripts and continues to the next planet.

If we assume the games are Canon then he could have just not been sure what happened and rationalized in his brain that the surgery must have happened. Also at the time of the first movie he likely didn't know he was Furyian seeing as he was found in a dumpster half choked to death with his umbilical cord. We don't know where or even who found him or too much of his childhood. In the second movie you could say he was saying it to confirm that Kira really was Jack as they had that conversation with more or less the same words in the first movie.

The eyeshine is described as a genetic trait exclusively inherited by Alpha Furyans like Riddick, whom is also stronger than the others. While all Furyans possess peak human physiology, the Alphas are known to be damn near, if not outright, superhuman. Not all Furyans possess this genetic trait. The game is canon and retconned the first movie as Jack points out nothing he told her about the prison was true when it came to the eyeshine. In the game we never see Riddick get his eyeshine surgery as he described it. This video even mentioned it. All the surgeon did was stitch up his wound. Riddick who knew NOTHING of his Furyan heritage simply attributed it to the surgeon as an explanation. He was wrong. Vaako even tells Riddick he fought a Furyan during the genocide that possessed the same eyes as him, further proving it is a natural trait. Also I own the games and the movies since I was a teenager.
@XristoferLee2 ай бұрын
some modern humans still have a slight bit of the reflective sheen in some lighting but not to the degree that say a cat, or a dog has. Oddly enough this genetic trait is often found in people who have the trait that makes their muscle and bone density denser than normal. They also tend to have an extra bone in their ankles.

It's funny that you had a Mass Effect reference earlier on, as the game team were big fans of the series. Jack from Mass Effect is based on this Jack. Also, you could have a situation where there is an extreme disparity in temperatures, but only if there is some sort of intense atmospheric lensing, coupled with an environment that doesn't retain heat well. Basically, the light is magnified by the atmosphere in direct sunlight, but the heat dissipates once the sunlight is off it. It wouldn't be even vaguely breathable though.

When Pitch Black was filmed, there were no major plans involving the character of Riddick. In fact, Pitch Black was never intended to launch a franchise. The film exists as a completely isolated episode in the Riddick saga and is more of a spin-off than a prequel or part of the “Chronicles of Riddick” cinematic universe. Thus, the genesis of Riddick's eyes is different in Pitch Black, in which he is a human, than in the rest of The Chronicles of Riddick, in which he is a Furian.

Roanoke about the planet not having a large defense force. That could easily be attributed to the population not politicaly supporting the funding to maintain a fleet or orbital defense platforms. This is seen all the time in europe. Were a lot of citizens of European countries don't support the funding of a large military.
@rozu77722 ай бұрын
That's what I always thought. The planet was described as pretty peaceful and people from all over the galaxy would go to visit and live there, so it makes sense they weren't used to war. The planet was so popular with everyone that "defenses in case of enemies" weren't really something they focused on.
@goose41132 ай бұрын
@rozu7772 It's also a possibility that the planet is of little strategic importance. So whatever Empire or Central government. The planet falls under are simply not willing to commit the resources to having a fleet permintly stationed

These movies are the only instance in which i can completely shut down the torettoness and believe Diesel can actually perform as a different character.

Ever seen The Pacifier? It’s a little hard to watch at first since we’re so used to seeing the menacing badass characters he usually plays, but when you take him playing D&D into account, it’s an interesting watch. Not exactly good, but fun to watch Diesel as an actor stepping outside his comfort zone

I actually have double bone disorder and I discovered it when I was 12. While playing rather recklessly on an obstacle course I manage to get pushed roughly 35 feet to the ground and the only thing that was damaged was my ligaments (Impact force) Everything else was perfectly fine. Since then I've been ran over twice, fallen from a tree and Sideswiped by a train. All without ever breaking a bone. Although double boned density sounds awesome, everything else gets messed up though LMAo

Actually, in butcher bay, pope joe stiches Riddicks arm up and riddick goes blind. Riddick gets all mad and joe is like "i have no idea what youre talking about, i just stiched your arm". The problem being, there are 2 different versions of the game

He did explain where he got his eyes. Both in this movie and Pitch Black. Step 1: Unalive a few people. Step 2: Get sent to a slam where you never see the light of day again. Step 3: Dig up a doctor and pay him 20 menthols to shine your eyes.
@Stew_Pid2 ай бұрын
But it's not what actually happened. Only thing Pope Joe did was stitch up his arm.
@windsnowandstatic90752 ай бұрын
Jack/Kira also said she couldn’t find anyone that would do a shine job “not even for 20 menthol kools.” It’s not out of character for riddick to lie about his past.

The memes of military spouses are real. I was flying out of fort Leonard wood (army base) and the front desk ladies were getting into a pissing contest over there spouses ranks and me and some soldier just looked at each other like wtf is going on right now 😂
@sevenember33322 ай бұрын
I’m sorry you were at Ft. LostInTheWoods. Happy you flew out of there. But yeah, I don’t think the Marine detachment had much of anything to do with the civilians, though I was there over 20 years ago. I can absolutely believe the wives got into piddly contests regarding their husband’s rank and how it reflected their standing. It’s not there was much for them to do around there

I know in Escape from Butcher Bay, there is a man who offers an eyeshine procedure to Riddick, but you also find out that Riddick is a Furyan. Lots of lore😂😂Edit:I thought it was hilarious when you refer to Karl Urban's character in The Chronicles of Riddick as Butcher. Good Ole Billy Butcher also played a good Judge Dredd. Who's the law? He is.😂
@timobensch39042 ай бұрын
idk why but i remember that in one of the movies Vehicle Identification Number says that he was the Decendant of Alphas/Nobles that ruled the planet and that is why his eyes look like that. it's also said that he was a baby during the Necromonger invasion and they killed him, or thought they did but his heart started beating again a few seconds after the necromongers left or something like that. He does the "heart beat stops but he still lives" thing in one of the Movies, too. it's the one where he also makes himself immune to the poison of some alien animal thing

The major issue of the movie for me is they could have had simple world building stuff that would justify the Fearians being such a threat or the lack of defenses of planets. Maybe the Fearians’ curse affects the Necromongers ability to take souls or something similar to their hell.
@TheDraken032 ай бұрын
I think the threat was more that the lord marshal was “destined” to be taken out by a furyian which leads to the mass slaughter of riddick’s people
@sevenember33322 ай бұрын
It’s explained in the extended cut of the movie. There’s a prophecy that says a Furyan will be the downfall of the Necromonger leader, hence the attempted extermination
