About the cat eyes thing, I think something you missed is the sharp inner corners. With all the idols you listed, the inner corners look almost cut or carved, which is definitely unique to the “cat eye” look, and helps enhance their feline like qualities. It’s also much more common in East Asian eyes generally, as I rarely see it in other races, so it helps give the idols a unique identifying feature of their “Asianness”, for lack of a better term. Also Haerin, in particular, has a very unique eyelid fold/crease that cuts into the inner portion of her eyes and arches into a double eyelid at the outer corner, which _really_ makes that cat like slant. Another feature that goes unmentioned is very prominent, outward ears. This is mostly something I noticed beginning from Chinese beauty standards, as it helps your face look smaller (supposedly), but with the cat like face it really draws attention to the large ears that resemble a cat. Once again, this is really noticeable on Haerin. Curved lips with a prominent Cupid’s bow certainly helps a lot in resembling the :3 face of a cat, but it isn’t necessary, as big lips _can_ be catlike as long as the shape made by the mouth is similar to the triangle of an open cat’s mouth. Finally, I think the cat like appearance is made by their face shape. A smooth face shape that is most wide at the temple/eye region and then tapers into a pointed chin _really_ cements that cat look. It’s important it’s not _too sharp_ as cats require some facial fat and cuteness, but too much facial fat detracts from the cat face.

I think Haerin is the cattiest idol ever. When comparing eyes, really, basically all people on this video have the usual almond shaped eyes, because they are Asian coreans but what instantly drew me to Haerin is that her are really are distinct from every idol I've ever seen, she's got this very wide, large, the most slanted eyes ever. It's almost like a cartoon, and she reminds me of my cat so much. She's got some very special eyes. I admire her eyes for real. Also she's got a really fine and delicate nose, like cats. Then if you add all the personality traits, she is the cattiest cat to ever cat in thr world

i think another big part of is it cat-like mannerisms; like the way haerin stares at her members/blinks at them, or (not included in the video) stray kids lee know's sharp reflexes. at the same time, "cat behaviour" is pretty hard to measure objectively. i also agree with the cute+fluffy/sharp+cold contrast being a part of it. felines are cute at first glance, but they can be genuinely intimidating at times. this sort of dichotomy probably adds to their catlike image.

Ngl, Jungwon actually has lots of representative animal by fans for him such as bunny, chipmunk, cat, sheep garden, monkey from predebut but he was known as “sheep garden” because it’s the English version of his name “Yang Jungwon” during I-Land and eventually became known as “cat” after debut which was established during Given-Taken when he has fangs shown and his wide cat eyes too and suddenly the members and fans called him cat and that’s all it started.

Lee Know from Stray Kids. Okay he’s not officially a cat but he literally has 3 cats, fulfills the appearance criteria/“cat eyes”, and the personality criteria- unique/weird/independent introvert with a “savage” streak. He’s sort of semi-officially a cat in that him and Felix are CatRACHA (recognized by SKZ-CODE editors, who also caption him as a cat sometimes). Also he has fed stray cats multiple times in their SKZ-CODE episodes to the point their staff always have cat food on hand in case he finds one. The reason their’s no cat SKZOO is well because Lee Know and Felix are CatRACHA and someone decided having 2 cats (which could even be different colours because real cats come in many different coat types) was simply not ok, so we got 1.5 rabbits instead. (Leebit for Lee Know and Dwaekki for Changbin, which is a pig-rabbit hybrid he created, resulting in the .5 rabbit.) Also Stray Kids I.N is semi-officially bread. His official SKZOO is a fennec fox but the members still refer to him as bread, his face-stickie thing in the CHEESE MV thing has bread written on it in Korean, and he’s part of CarbsRACHA with Hyunjin and Seungmin (Hyunjin = flour, Seungmin = rice, I.N = bread. SKZ subunits/RACHAs are an insanely complex mess, there are loads of established ones and 154 possible ones. Yes, I legitimately once got so bored I calculated how many unique 2-4 person combinations there were in a group of 8.) Also BT21 aren’t representative animals, you are not telling me that a COOKIE is an animal. Likewise, 2PM’s ZooPM includes a banana, which is just infinite levels of “whoever did this had even less fact-checking capability than the guy who accidentally printed Yoda into a Saudi history textbook.)
