Very nice. I have a Russian 1943. It's got everything I wanted. It has the rough machining on the exterior, it has the "walking stick crack" and some character in the stock. It was arsenal refinished but has, according to my Russian friend, someone's initials hand carved into the stock. Unfortunately, they tried to sand it out during the refinishing but it's still visible. Mine isn't a rare example but it's enough to get me more interested in Mosins & I love the initials. Some young Russian man carried that gun in WWII. He used it as a walking stick, he carved, I presume, his girlfriend's initials into it and worried about coming home alive. That makes it a little personal & I like that.

My father and I use the Mosin Nagant M44 for deer hunting. Finding the shells for them isn’t as easy as it was 20+ years ago, but it’s our weapon of choice. We bought the original sling, scope, takedown tools, ammo pouch, and oil can for ‘em. Dad has the 200 meter sniper rifle. He refinished his an it’s absolutely gorgeous. Great hunting rifle.

loved this vid, you taught me about the Finn mosins a couple years ago with your M39 vid and now I've got two Finn's; an M91 VKT and an M39 Sako. The M91 is really cool because aside from Chatellerault, some piece is made by every Mosin manufacturer. Most is Westinghouse and Remington, but just a cool microcosm of the Mosin world and crazy to think of all of those pivitol moments in several country histories that it was a part of. Great informational video. My regular shooter mosin is a 1927 ex draggon 91/30. Somewhat rare but not extremely. My other mosin is among the rarest: a Finnish m91. My m91 has a 1918 Tula mark on the tang. It has a 1942 marked barrel with the VKT and SA stamps. BUT, it also has the B marked Belgian barrel, AND the Belgian liege proof marks. One of less than 1,200 made. I've only sent 5 rounds down that to test it. Whole thing is like brand new.

The Civil Guard districts mentioned at 29:10 were amalgamated with the regular army during the Interim peace 1940-41 as far as military operations went. The rifle orders they had made and were not completed at the time were honoured though, and the S.K.Y (Civil Guard H.Q) markings were stamped on the rifles until the whole outstanding lot was delivered, but it went to the Army.

Question, a friend of mine gave me a mosin to clean for him, fresh out the cosmoline. I noticed right away that it doesn't have a date on the receiver at all. Just the star and just down and way left a little x and a big 2 and then off set a 7. A little curly q thing above the star and the remnants of the arrow in the star. Then below and all over a 3 digit number with the letters "nk" in front. Its obviously a 91/30 (i thought) but all the ones I've seen had a date like 1942r on them below the star. Why this one has no date I dont know. Also the trigger guard is much more blocky and beefy than my two mosins. O yeah and on the trigger guard it has the "nk" number but also a number OA1022 that has a line scribed through it like it was crossed out for some reason. And in many places little o's and d's. And also below the star and nk # is a large symbol that resembles an anchor ⚓ but more squared. Is this rare or just my imagination?

A great and informative video. No we definitely weren't falling asleep, its good to have someone give us a short and simple crash course on these old war horses. By the way it would be awesome if you could grab all the Enfield's you can and give us a run down on them :-)

I was looking for a rifle didn’t know much about them. I bought a mosin from a gun store in my town it was the only mosin they had was a 1937 M91/30 rifle this is awesome. It’s in extremely good looking condition literally no damage to stock or I guess it doesn’t look as beat up as others I’ve watched videos of this.i watch This video after I bought it to find out it has a Letter c stamped that mean France has it at some stage. so i would like to know more . I just started looking at my rifle while I took it apart. Some numbers match on the barrel and receiver. The bolt is different number same with the but plate and same with the trigger bottom plate I watched The full video thanks for your time this was a great I gotta lurn more about these beautiful rifles. would love to share my take If I run into a good one 🤞🏻I didn’t know before I know Now to look for if I find others like the ones in your video

What makes a Mosin rare? It can shoot straight AND the bolt is slick.

What about the Polish M44? Those are probably THE nicest carbine Mosin to find, with exceptional triggers.

He speaks very highly of the M39s and for good reason, after all, it was the final incarnation that became the Finnish standardized rifle for a while. Its predecessors are definitely rarer though. The "aura" of my M28 is just awesome, to think, the M28 was a civil guard only rifle, there are no civilian copies, and shortly after the winter war began... My imagination runs wild when I hold it/shoot it.

Hello, if by any chance you will read this comment I ask you for advice. There are 3 rifles i can choose from but for various reasons I can only buy one now. I will quickly describe them and I would like to hear your thoughts on which is rarest. First one is Tikka M91 marked SA with hexagonal receiver, leather sling and a different adjustable sights (sort of bent upwards). Second one is the M 39 made by Sako with round receiver, made in 1941 with unchanged stock, maybe it could be carbine it looks shorter but i can´t really tell from the photos. Third one is civil guard M24 with hexagonal receiver marked "7" and "D" and the bolt is marked "E", inserted with either german „Bohler-Stahl“ or swiss „Schweiz-Industrie Gesellschaft Neuhausen“ barrel, it also has the bent sights like the first one. All of them fully functional stocks, not cracked, look great. Can you help me decide please?

I got a wierd one; a 1943 m9159 with the wierdest metal finishing I've seen. Every metal surface above the wood that is visible is machined to a near mirror polish and blued beautifully, but as soon as it goes to metal that's under wood, it is instantly super roughly machined and has a rough, dull finish. When disassembled and seen from the side, there is an obvious parting line where the finish goes from beautiful to ugly. Any Mosies out there maybe know why it might be like that?
@wanker73716 жыл бұрын
Cody Moncrief My '42 91/59 is the same way. My guess is that it was done to speed up production during wartime.

I picked up an unissued Sako M39 for about 190 USD and a mint condition M52 Hungarian sniper for about 250 USD from a gunsmith that had no idea what he was selling a couple of months ago. Man, you can't imagine how hard I had to bite my tongue and play it cool.
@zaitcev08 жыл бұрын
I have an M59 too, and when I bought them, they were thought of as junk Mosins. An M38 would be much preferable. The reason is, M59 is a Russian original, factory bubba gun. They cut down war surplus guns with intention of distributing it across hunting cooperatives (in Soviet Russia, commercial hunting for fur and meat was performed by freelancers too, but co-ops held the reins). By bubbaing them, Russians removed all collectability of the wartime Mosins when they made M59s.

I got bit by the collecting bug of sorts lately and wanted to get some old WW1/2 era milsurp and happened to find a Mosin at my local pawn shop. they had some carbines and some longer rifles there. I didnt look at the carbines but im going to now for sure. What I did buy is a 1927r M9130 that I think is all number matching. It is a little hard to tell for sure on some of the prints if the first number is all the same or not. As far as i can tell everything about the gun is in excellent shape. It is a hex receiver as well. From what I can tell 1927 hex receiver mosins are already going for more than I paid for it which was around $340 for the gun and a 20 count box of PPU ammo. The gun came with a canvas (i believe) sling as well. I may try to make a video in the near future on this gun and hopefully you or someone can give me a little bit more knowledge on just what I have and if it is rare or not. Lately I have been wanting to maybe get a carbine length Mosin to build a long range rifle off of with the ArchAngel stock and such. As I said the bug has bit me lol. I may go by that pawn shop again and see about if any of the carbines have a hex receiver or not. If one does I may just have to buy another Mosin lol. The bad part is I havent shot the one I have now yet and I already want more! LOL! EDIT: All the Mosins they had at the time i think were priced at $300 each so if someone says i paid to much then how come they all were priced that? seems kind of odd idk but just throwing that out there. The gun also has some big P word on it. Py pound sign looking thing r N idk what all across there
