What I've gotten from the few reviews I've seen is that for this game they've figured out how to do "Open World" with the classic Linear dungeon design of old. And i really think it can also be done with the 3D Zeldas. Even if that means dropping the amount of Shrines and maybe a Hyrule that is not as big as BotW/TotK

The thing I've been most impressed with so far is that there are very few "useless" echos and how well all of the puzzles are built around them. The entire world is jam packed with interesting puzzles that have multiple solutions, but not so many puzzles that they lose their challenge or intrigue. The game also does a fantastic job of teaching you how to use echos in creative ways without tons of tutorial handholding. I'm very curious to see what the speed running community does with this game. It feels like it's going to take a long time to find an optimal route given how the game is structured.

Haven’t gotten the game yet, but hearing some nice things. As someone who isn’t fond of the idea of only open-world Zeldas going forward, the fact that this game seemed to be closer to Link’s Awakening (and by extension, the Oracle Of games) is really appealing. And hearing that the game doesn’t belittle Link is good. From day 1 I’ve hated the modern formula of ‘best way to sell the audience on a new protagonist is to mock and tear down the old one’. I’m still mostly spoiler free as well, despite KZbin being a bit aggressive in cramming ‘all bosses’ and ‘ending’ videos into my recommendations, haha.

I am looking forward to the full review. I enjoyed the fact that you pointed out that they make link out to be a hero so that Zelda can be a hero without taking anything away from link. This feels very true to form for the old Zelda format. I think that they are learning how to blend the way Zelda has always been with newer open world methods. Now if they could just figure out the combat system without weapon breakage. At least in this one the direct combat feels good and having a meter there to tell you how much you have left means that you do not feel like you are being left high and dry. Always having echoes at your disposal is also nice. A few of them can be spammed and come out almost like projectile weapons. I do think I would have liked to be able to quick select or hotkey a few more echoes rather than having to select them one at a time. Having echo combinations would have elevated both combat and traversal.

Absolutely love this game so far. I've completed five dungeons, but I noticed I'm enjoying the side content and the world building as much as I'm enjoying the main questline. Is this the most developed world we've ever had in a Zelda game? I mean that in the sense that the characters react to your actions when it would make sense (the game even keeps track of which characters in a room would logically be able to see Tri), the way most of the 'main' and even many 'secondary' NPCs have character arcs. I find myself revisiting locaitons again and again after each dungeon or event, to find new dialogue, quests, and NPC placement/reactions to what's going on. Usually in games, NPCs have a Before and an After state, i.e. dialogue before the nearby dungeon is tackled, and dialoge after it's defeated. Their dialogue then remains static for the rest of the game. Impa, as an example, in this game seems to have had about 10 independent interactions with me. It makes the world feel alive and 'real'. 10/10. I'd also agree wkth your analysis of the dungeons - I was worried that they'd be simplistic, but they seem to have found the Goldilocks Zone of complexity without frustration. I've checked a guide only once (those switches in the Faron Temple), otherwise I've been able to figure everything out through experimentation. I love this game. 😁

Echos is an enjoyable return to the traditional Zelda format while also introducing a new spin to the manner in which we interact with the world. The return of traditional dungeons is a huge plus in my book, but if I do have one issue with the game, it’s that the puzzles are too easy. I’ve been able to get through 99% of puzzles without too much thought or frustration. That in mind, I’m only a little halfway through the game, so it’s possible the back half of dungeons will provide the greater challenge I’m looking for. Otherwise, it’s an excellent game and my favorite since the Links Awakening remake.

I didn't expect much, when I saw the trailer. I do love the art style tho. But when I played it... good god. It is hands down my favorite top-down zelda now, and I played every single zelda game. What they did with the last 4 zelda releases is just outstanding and are for sure some of the best games ever made. Even BoTw is by nowadays standard still ahead, even with games like elden ring out there. it's just a very different experience, the freedom and discovery in this boxed garden games are so fun. Echoes of wisdom was like a 30 hour blast of good experience (30 hours for 100% completion). I feld only that there could be a higher difficulty (not the hero mode - that's just dmg). I hope for a zelda / dragon quest builders game, what they were originally developing. Not just a dungeon builder, more what dragon quest builders did, it would be a perfect fit. Echoes of Wisdom blew me away. I actually prefer the "necromancer" style play of zeldas echoes, it was soooo fun to experiment with all the different echoes. Much better than sword & bow, with so many more opportunities. The people that say this game isn''t good probably didn't play it at all. The only ones that I read about did not do play... so... this is really a masterpiece. And I would anyone recommend buying this game since it's worth your time. I will probably sinc another 10 hours into that game just for wondering around and looking at all the beautiful details in the art style and the huge world.

I'm loving this game! My one big nitpick is I HATE the Swordfighter mode. They created a game for Zelda with a unique power and playstyle that is significantly different from past games, with unique puzzles and strategies, and her OP power up is.... turning into Link. I don't like it. I haven't completed the game yet, but one thing that would be cool is if there was a new game plus where you play as Link leading up to Zelda's rescue. Nothing super long but a nice truncated adventure like Olimar's Story in Pikmin 4. But I don't like the idea of having this amazing gameplay style and then replacing it with the traditional one mid game. I've been avoiding using it as much as possible, but so far I've encountered two boss fights where using it is required. 😮💨

@@wearywanderer1912 Spoilers to anyone reading: I had to use it for Ganon and the midboss Mandala in Faron Temple. Ganon you might be able to beat without Swordfighter form, but it would be extremely tedious cause in the third phase the only reliable opportunity for damage he gives you is during the volley attack and you have to use the sword to repel the magic attacks. Mandala I tried literally everything I could think of. Specifically, I'm referring to the second fight with the two blue heads. Nothing works on them. Attacks bounce off and they're immune to fire and electricity. I tried feeding them a bombfish and they ate it no problem. I tried using Zirro bombs too but I couldn't get them to eat the bombs and they'd target the Zirro instead. I know they have the weak point on the neck and I could stretch out their heads with Bind, but getting your echos to target the weak point instead of the head was impossible. I wasn't able to defeat them until I used Swordfighter to throw those bombs in it's mouth, which seemed to work when the other bombs didn't (which feels like a HUGE oversight). Only after that would the heads get stunned and you could properly attack the necks. Good news though, I've beaten the game now, and those were the only two fights I needed it. If you got through them without it, please feel free to flex on me and tell me how you beat that stupid Mandala.

Very unpopular opinion i guess but I honestly didn’t like the dungeons in this game… I think many people are just desperate for traditional dungeons that they overlook how basic they are in this game, this game sadly didn’t do it for me, dungeons are formulaic, insultingly easy and the worst part is that this game tries to mix two very different design philosophies that don’t compliment each other, you don’t have the tight design of the classic formula and you don’t have half of the possibilities that you can pull off in TOTK, I also don’t think that making Zelda playable did much since she is mute again if you are desprate for playable Zelda then this game will give you that but as a character she didn’t do much for me.

This game suffers the same UI issues as TOTK. Too many options, not enough sorting methods. Standing watching the AI fight itself is incredibly dull, which is why the Link transformation exists. At that point though, why not just be Link? OR why can't the player transform into the echo? Reduce the number of total echoes and let the player BECOME the enemy. There are far too many instances of dialogue that just explains what you just watched. It's an OK game. This response to this will be the same as TOTK. People will like it and then will sour as more and more people share their thoughts.

What are you on? You hate the world you live in so much, you’re not capable of noticing the great things in life, just like this amazing video game. Touch some grass and then play it, you won’t regret it.

I love how you people complain about people shoving politics into everything and you do this. Shove politics into something completely unrelated. The hypocrisy is crazy.

I’ve was playing it and it’s NOT woke, first of all while Zelda is fixing rifts, link is inside them fighting enemies the whole time showing that he is a capable character and second do you really need training for the tri rod? I mean all gotta do is wave it around. So please don’t spread this negativity.
