Short answer: Yogyakarta is the correct one, with "Y" pronunciation and Ngayogyakarta is the official name. Long answer: "In colonial-era correspondence, the city is often written in the Javanese script as ꦔꦪꦺꦴꦒꦾꦏꦂꦠ, read as /ˌŋɑːjɒɡjəˈkɑːrtə/ with the added prefix nga-. In the orthography of the time, the proper name was spelled with the Latin alphabet as "Jogjakarta". As the orthography of the Indonesian language changed, the consonant /j/ came to be written with , and the consonant /dʒ/ with . Personal and geographical names, however, were allowed to maintain their original spelling according to contemporary Indonesian orthography. Thus, the city can be written as "Yogyakarta", which is true to its original pronunciation and the Javanese script spelling, or "Jogjakarta", which is true to the old Dutch spelling and reflects popular pronunciation today, but differs from the original Ayodhya etymology. One may encounter either "Yogyakarta" or "Jogjakarta" in contemporary documents." -Wikipedia But in Indonesia, we use both interchangeably.

@Pepe The Sucker lol, ikr he doesn't even mean to and she also doesn't take it seriously. Tapi intensi saya disini adalah memberikan koreksi dan referensi, sama halnya kamu denger orang bicara in my opinion trus memberikan referensi lain berupa I think krn dirasa It lebih informal drpd Imo. Contohnya saja Dia terus komen kok channelmu nggak punya 1 m subs sih? Ke channel org lain Nah dari sini kita g bisa menggeneralisasi atau mukul rata yg bales bakal heran atau merasa sedikit dipuji-puji hny krn saat first-hand experience org yg ditanya merasa demikian, kan who knows klo org lain bisa merasa triggered kek dih apaan sih lu ngeledek gue ya, emg knp klo subs gw dikit

Hi Renata! I am Indonesian. Thank you for visiting the special region, the special province of, the (Islamic Central Javanese) Kingdom of Yogyakarta, of Indonesia. The Sultan is really a king. And any Sultan of Yogyakarta, would automatically be the Governor of Yogyakarta. While the other king, The Paku Alam of Yogyakarta, automatically be the Vice Governor of the region (we have two Islamic Javanese kingdoms within the province of Yogyakarta, the Paku Alam's palace is near the Sultan's). And long time, hundred years ago the Islamic kingdoms of java had a strong alliance with the islamic Kingdom of Turkey Utsmaniyyaah (the Ottomans). An important city and region that had played quite an important role in Indonesia's history. Nice video. And you are so knowledgeable, humble, beautiful and kind. Say hello to Gordon, please. I like him, he's a funny and smart guy. BTW, in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language), we call "curtain" as "korden" or "gordyn", almost the same as his name, Gordon. That's why the little girls laughed. :D I just feel quite bad that you visited our country in summer. I hope the climate was acceptable. It's different in rainy season. And if you go to the beautiful highlands, and mountains of ours. But if I may say, with around 17,000 islands in the largest Archipelago on Earth, more than 600 ethnic groups, over 700 languages en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesia YOU NEED MONTHS at least to really know the real varieties of Indonesian cultures and cuisines. If you have the time and energy, I would recommend it. ALL TIME favorites cuisine are MINANG/PADANG (West Sumatran) food, especially the BEEF RENDANG, voted many times (CNN survey) as the MOST DELICIOUS food in the world, BUT, of course, Yogyakarta has its distinguished food. NEXT time you visit Yogyakarta, do try the Sultan's Palace's (Kraton's) restaurant! The BALE RAOS restaurant. They have genuine Kraton's original recipee. And it's with reasonable price. I personally like it very much! And actually the special region of Yogyakarta also has cool-breezed mountain, green hills, valleys, and hot beaches. A pity you did not have the time to enjoy it. I thank God, or "alhamdooleellaah", all praise be to Allaah, The One God of 124,000 prophets and apostles. THANK GOD for the existence of Indonesia. And its varities of food and beverages and cultures. And last but not least, THANK YOU for liking our food. :)

This was the last destination i visited before the pandemic. Thank you for this video. And kudos to you for exploring the Taman Sari on your own cause I had to hire a guide but it was worth it for another Rp50k. And she was my photographer as well as i was travelling alone and she was able to shoo away the people to take pics at the stairs. Cant wait for more of your Jogja vlog!

@Toni Kristanta This is an exaggeration at best. Indonesians in most times are nice to each other. Those who are treated badly are smug local tourists who litter everywhere, haggle crazily for everything, dislike tipping and complain on small things that they pay cheaply. Westerners know how to treat local business generously, that's why they are respected.
@nurnur-qo5sx4 жыл бұрын
@Toni Kristanta we are curious with western tourist, yes. But it doesn't mean we hate each other. Where are you living? Maybe you live in a toxic area. In jogja, people are generally nice to everyone.
@yatosunbae21284 жыл бұрын
@Toni Kristanta I don't agree with you. Indonesians always smile and Indonesians people are always friendly to anyone if that person is also friendly to them. If you are not friendly to Indonesians, then Indonesians will not be friendly to you. So, be friendly and smile to the people of Indonesia and they will return your hospitality
@yatosunbae21284 жыл бұрын
more special in Yogyakarta, many people are friendly there and full of jokes, if you respect them, they will respond with their hospitality. Indonesia has a kind of unwritten rule, that is, "5s -> sopan (polite), santun (polite), senyum (smiling), salam (greeting), sapa (greeting)." so, be nice to them, and they will be kind to you ^_^
@nurnur-qo5sx4 жыл бұрын
@Toni Kristanta that's because we are still confused. We associate tourists with good behaviour. We tend to see them as someone with money and advanteruous soul. Thus, when they do some bad things, our mind can't grasp it easily. This resulting in a lighter punishment. Plus..We understand that they may not understand our culture. They are not Indonesian after all. Thats make we are not easily angry compare to the case when locals doing the same. This is called toleration. We tolerate them bcs they are not locals. This happened everywhere in a non racist society.

Tetap aman! 👍😀
