My mother bought my current car when I was 5 years old. It’s a 2003 Lexus ES300 and it currently has 270,000 miles and it drives like new. It’s the car my brother and I learned to drive on. My dad has a 2007 Infiniti M35x with 100,000 less miles and it requires twice the work to keep it running. We were always a Honda family until we found lexus, and now we will never go back because of how good Lexus cars drive and how reliable they are.

You NAILED it! I regularly comment that this fad for mind boggling speed is simply ridiculous. Every other site is another dork drag racing a Camry vs an Accord, or a Hyundai Kona vs a Honda CR-V. Who cares? This is simply a Marketing ploy to upsell you or bring you over to their brand. As for that track thing, you're spot on. I only know two guys and myself over the years that have ever stepped onto a track, much less driven on one. What do we have in our family? 2020 Honda Civic EX Coupe, 2020 Civic Hatchback Sport and a 2020 Lexus UX200. All get about 33-38 mpg combined, have remarkable handling, trouble free, sharp looking, affordable ($23k Coupe, $25k Hatch and $29k UX)and fast enough. Finally, I like your humility, realistic appraisal and input. That's why I just subscribed. Thank you.

Exhaust Sports Auto picked up a 2016 Porche Macan and my wife and I thought we had gone to heaven. 2 weeks into it it sprang 2 oil leaks, and a water pump leak. While it was under warranty it was thousands of dollars in repairs. We convinced the dealer to buy the car back and picked up a 2016 RX 350. In terms of comfort I give it a 9/10. Handling 7/10 , power 7.5/10, technology 9/10 resale value 9/10. We love this car however in terms of power and performance it’s no Porche. It is however the closest thing that we could find in terms of comfort to the Macan S. Unfortunately, the Porche is over engineered and the reliability outside of 4 years is poor . I love driving a vehicle that I don’t have to worry about falling apart
@MeynMotorGroup5 жыл бұрын
Yea I feel you Todd I recently reviewed a Cayenne on my channel loved that thing so much I admit nothing really drives like a Porsche and people aren’t kidding when they say Porsche SUVs drive better than some cars. How did you get the dealer to buy the car back did they reimburse you the whole cost of the car?
@toddmullis80515 жыл бұрын
Exhaust Sports Auto yes they paid it off 100%. In return we allowed them to buy a 2016 RX 350 from auction sell that vehicle to us at a slightly higher than average retail price. They bought the car off a one owner lease so I think they most likely got it fairly cheap. If your going to risk buying a car coming coming off lease Lexus IS probably the only one I would consider due to the outstanding reliability. This dealership is a small family owned dealership that has a fantastic reputation and has been in business for over 25 years. They did not want to risk a bad review. Unfortunately they still have that Macan on the lot and have been unable to sell it most likely due to the Car Fax report. So really they took a little bath on this deal. Moreover, there are a huge number of Porche Macans coming off lease right now which is causing those used prices to drop like a rock. I cannot day enough about how great that vehicle was in terms of driving, comfort, technology etc. I actually looked forward to long trips. The duel clutch transmission on the Macan is masterful. It’s too bad the reliability is so poor. The thing with Lexus IS they go with proven older technology with lower compression engines and solid transmissions. After the Macan my wife was really disappointed that she couldn’t bet that new Acura RDX. That car however is beginning to look like a dumpster fire. A tiny 2.0 liter direct injection high pressure engine with a turbocharger mated to a new 10 speed transmission was a recipe for disaster. I am keeping up with that vehicle on the forums and new owners are furious with all the issues that vehicle has even at this early date. That car was a mistake on Acura’s part. It will absolutely fall apart sub 100k miles imo. The new technology is a disaster as well.

Lexus/Toyota purposely tune downs their engines so they can last a long time. If they were to crank out the horsepower it would just deteriorate their engines much faster. Japanese and Canadians sure know how to build good cars. Their attention to detail is amazing. I see so many older Lexus on the road since they are built so well. I used to own a Mercedes gl, what a endless money pit. Spent $14k in repairs in less than 2 years. Was seeing my mechanic literally once a month. He do repairs for me for free for simple things that break. I asked him is there anything that’s not going to break, he smiles he says everything will break, only thing that will not break will be the engine according to him. Never again. I bought a new Lexus LX570, but in hindsight I would buy any used Lexus since they age well and last a long time.

After totaling my 2013 GS350 I found a 2014 LS460L w/ 60k in Pearl White with peanut butter leather in California and had it shipped to me here in Texas about 2 months ago. Best car I’ve ever owned by far. So smooth and elegant. I used to be a fan of Cadillacs. But in my humble opinion, the last “real” Cadillac was the 96 Fleetwood. Now their cars aim to be sporty instead of smooth & luxurious. They used to feel like you were floating around in a cloud. Now the LS is the modern version of what Cadillac used to represent (if you get what I mean). I plan on driving my LS until the wheels fall off. I'm glad you made this video. Alot of times BMW enthusiasts like saying that the only thing Lexus has is reliability. There are alot more qualities to Lexus than that. For example back in 2006 Lexus was using a 306 horsepower v6. At that time alot of v6 engines wasn't as powerful naturally aspirated. In my opinion Lexus do have very good performance as well. Another example when Honda came out with the new Civic SI. People were asking Honda why they dont keep increasing horsepower from generation to generation. Honda responded and said yes we can get more power, we wanted to make sure the engine can run and be reliable for up to 300000 miles or more. Lexus uses the same concept. Lexus leans more towards the conservative side to ensure 400000 miles of driving, while having good real world performance.

Great vid as usual bro! My opinion on Lexus as being a used car owner, these cars are still good looking, ride very well, make you feel good when you're driving one. Not a keeping up with the Jonses feeling or I've arrived. No, however the good feeling of value in a luxury car with good power and amenities regardless if outdated or not. If you were to buy an '02 540 or '02 GS430 today, the most you'd have to do in a GS is change oil and brake pads. Maybe a battery. The Bimmer would likely need a new suspension front end, rear ball joints, leaks in the air intake and cooling system or timing chain guides that will cost more than you paid for the car. I'm passionate about enjoying my gorgeous ride working without so much attention. Please don't get me wrong, I love cars period and I'm not bashing BMW or Mercedes. I'm grateful to European cars because they have all helped me become a better DIY mechanic. 😁 I like a good rest too and like a nice smooth ride that's not a headache and just pretty!!

I had a GS300 Super Luxury for 6 years, then I changed to a BMW 730Li for 3 years. Other than the rear space in the BMW, nothing else is even closed to the Lexus. BMW has little irritating problems, from a window that won’t fold and then won’t open, broken air suspensions to a broken seal that flooded the spark plug to blinds that either won’t open properly to cant close. The Lexus came with the Mark Levinson sound system, rear blind included and not an option I had to pay, mirrors that auto tilt when reverse is engaged and despite having it for 3 years more than the BMW, nothing breaks down and my total service and repair bills were less than half of that of the BMW. I just bought a used 2016 Lexus es300h and am very happy with it a month into owning it.

This is true, I have a 353hp suv but it’s pointless when the town speed limits are mostly 35mph. So the freeway on ramps are the only other way to enjoy it during my commute, but even the ramps aren’t fun because they’re clover leaves. But, when I was in Arizona, you can go 50mph on the streets, and their on ramps have red/green indicators to launch into the freeway, so you can do 0-70mph whenever you merge

I don't know about lexus having as much electronics and tech as german luxury cars...a base model 2015 lexus is has as much tech if not less than a 2009 c class amg. An f sport is will only have slightly more tech than the 2009 c class amg. Not that tech hurted lexus though, in fact that is one of the reasons why they're more reliable. Not to mention that lexus is a luxury sub brand of toyota...one of the most reliable car makers. I know you wanted to leave reliability out, but it's a big factor. Lexus is right next to toyota with how low their maintenance cost is each year...meanwhile german lexury cars are among the more expensive. Reliability>looks>descent power>low maintenance/repair costs....and because of all this they usually hold their value much longer than german luxury cars.
@MeynMotorGroup5 жыл бұрын
All cars even Civics and Corollas now have all the same sensors and cameras and sonars for their safety tech and when that breaks or god forbid you get into a crash, this stuff costs a fortune to replace it’s the hidden cost of a new car that nobody really knows or cares about until they get hit with the bill I guess. Same goes for LED headlights those cost a fortune too. Many of these cars have HVAc burried in a a screen, it may be reliable but the part itself costs a lot is kinda my point but I hate typing this shit out just leads to more questions and debates

I own both a European vehicle and a Japanese vehicle. I have my baby which is a 2001 Mercedes ML320 and a 2011 Lexus ES350 and i love them both there are things that i really love about the ML and that is that i have had it since 05 and it still runs like brand new but the only thing about is that i know about every year and a half it will need a valve cover gasket besides just regular maintainence and it has 170 grand on the clock. For a suv and especially a first generation of it i really enjoy the ride, now the Lexus is very nice and runs like a champ. The Lexus has 68 grand on it and i love it but hate it at the same time, i love it because it is very dependable and it rides sooooo very smooth and i hate it because it rides so very smooth and makes me too relaxed, LOL does that make sense i didn't think so. But i forgot to mention that i also have 1996 Mercedes S420 as well and nothing , i mean nothing rides as smooth as that big ass tank there and it's so solid that when you shut the door it shuts like a bank vault. So basically i will have to agree with you that Lexus is a fantastic cruisin car and when we put it on the highway to travel nothing beats it out of all the cars i have had except Lincoln but including Cadillacs,Buicks and Audi's .

I don't drive fast enough for a BMW and my car has every feature and more that I wanted so I don't see why I'd buy a Mercedes over it. Along with the features, luxury, and the performance it has which is more than enough for me one of my favorite things it has is the build quality and reliability. I never even consider it breaking down on me while dailying it and even if something does break or require maintenance it's not gonna cost me anywhere near as much to repair or replace.

Exhaust Sports Auto Not always. Lexus ppl sometimes complain about their parts being expensive until you look for it under Toyota part number. You can look up an Porsche/Audi/VW the same way depending on the model. Also, most ppl don’t take the time to do the necessary due diligence and just go to a dealer where you will get hosed. When you’re buying a luxury car you’re also inherit the maintenance and pay to be in the lux game.
@MeynMotorGroup5 жыл бұрын
You’re right, Lexus parts are expensive too which is part of why I don’t care about reliability because reliability isn’t the issue unless it’s Mercedes or Maserati, it’s the maintenance and parts that cost a lot. So you need a warranty regardless of the luxury car brand
