Almost no one ever drives their car on a track. Probably less than 1% of car buyers. Rather than designing passenger cars for lap times or performance, design for emotion. Designing for performance, you’ll often wind up with a product that’s impressive on paper but with a number of compromises at the expense of comfort. Designing for emotion makes you pay attention to how the product makes you feel. Tuning the exhaust to produce a beautiful, addictive note you’ll never tire of, a beautiful interior that looks awesome and ages gracefully, an incredible sound system that makes you want to go for a drive just to listen to your favorite song. Driving pleasure is what makes you LOVE your car. I think Lexus is doing this better than any other manufacturer on the market. I love their cars.

Honestly I would take this over most other sports sedans. Definitely anything turbocharged (except the M5 CS). If I'm buying a sports sedan, I'm not looking for ultimate performance. I want something fun, comfortable, and reliable. This checks those boxes, for sure. And looks drop dead gorgeous doing it. And the price honestly seems really reasonable for what you're getting (pre-mark up, I mean). The outdated interior doesn't bother my either. I bought a 2020 370z brand new, so, y'know. I'm used to it. I just bought a used Audi for a commuter (because I hate myself), but if I were in the market for a new commuter, I'd be leaning towards this more than I think anything else.

Great video as usual guys. And thanks for pointing out the short term/long term decision point. As a driver of a 12 year old Lexus I'm amazed at the quality and solidity of the vehicle and I can still sell it for a decent amount of money. I have no doubt that I'll put an easy 250K miles on it and I've been in LS460's with almost 300K miles that feel amazing. You just cannot do that in anything German these days. You used to be able to but you can go and find 6-7 year old BMW's all day long that are less than the price of a new Camry yet they were almost $100K or more new. German cars to me now mean insane care and feeding if you dare approach 70K miles. Lexus still seems like hand crafted old world quality and used values validate that reality.

I hear you on the e92.. but I have a c4 ZR-1 in the garage with a Lotus dohc V8 that I’m in the planning stages to punch out to 427 and make 750 hp na. It looks sounds and utterly destroys the little baby v8 in the e92 so I never had any interest in that car. I can see why the bmw guys like it though because they’re always desperate to hold on to something special. Hence the trillions they spend on carbon bits and Kleenex they need for beating off to their individual colors and interior colors 💦.

@@5abivt reliability and BMW don't go together. My last car was e92 m3. I was at 100k miles and had about $30k warranty repairs and still had tons left to do after warranty. Suspension, adaptive head light, seat belt, oil leak from head, oil pan, transmission, window regulators, etc.......it's fun car but it's money pit. Now on GS and 150k miles and nothing went bad........also it was cheaper to insure.

@@user-nifinei34jd9 I can’t argue that at all but that’s why I only buy m cars and do my research. When I bought my 15 GT I considered an e92 m3 but rod bearings and actuators that could fail at any time leaving me stranded were big no nos especially with no aftermarket solution available at the time. I have a 16 M4 and in 3 years and 70k km so far it’s required oil changes and a valve cover which was a piece of cake at home for 700 and I likely could have done the recent fix which is a $30 fix vs replacing fbe entire valve cover. Of course I do everything myself and have absolutely 0 value for warranty and would never let a 🤡 at a dealership touch my cars. On the other hand I think that’s a huge selling point for the Lexus given they do have a solid rep for reliability. The v8 isn’t a new design so it’s fairly solid and stress free which will be a huge attraction point no doubt.
