The script was flipped with this one. A white woman who's radical feminist debating with a Black woman who is a lean-in liberal feminist.Murphy's arguments were more convincing, compelling and well thought out than Wilson's IMO.There were times when I think Jamila was having a completely different conversation like she wasn't on the same footing with Meghan.Goes to show that how truly the term 'woke' 'intersectional' have lost all meaning.
@BlackPrimeMinister6 жыл бұрын
How was Murphy's position more compelling? An extremist is always "convincing", even if that is only to themselves. Note how the flame-haired one pulled a Neo to dodged a bullet on the Muslim women/ Niqab question. What was so convincing about her fudge? She speaks endlessly about "colonialism, racism..." but is a classic White Feminist imperialist, determined to dictate what feminism is to her dark-skinned "sisters". Sounds pretty patronising to me. Doesn't it share the same Latin root as Patriarchy? Maybe they have something in common, after all.

Jamila relied too much on buzzwords e.g. talking about "the need for nuanced analysis" when in reality you show nuanced argument and analysis by actually practicing it, not just talking about it. Very common issue with liberal feminists and sjws is the tendency to talk in word salads and mentioned certain words (e.g. 'nuance'; 'intersectional'; 'problematic'; 'systemic analysis' etc), but it's often all talk and no action.

why isn't Mehdi Hasan questioning them and their views more? Like at the end, the Canadian feminist says that men shouldn't play a key role. That's such an ostracizing comment... it's the same thing she accuses "patriarchy" of causing to women - exclusion from power and so on. He's usually very good at being agressive (sometimes too much so), but he could easily have questioned some of the extremely and seemingly bigoted things they were saying?
@DonnaBrooks4 жыл бұрын
Are you a feminist? Do you really care about women? Or are you only concerned about men's feelings? Yeah, that's what I thought.
@stefanthorndahl16664 жыл бұрын
@@DonnaBrooks I would consider myself feminist, but probably not in the way you're thinking of it. I think Meghan Murphy is making some decent points throughout, and I also see where she comes from when she says that she thinks women should be central to the movement. But I also think it's a point of discussion and that's why it needs questioning. In addition, I think a lot of 'isms' get thrown about and it's a much too general way of discussing feminism in the context of. Mehdi usually questions or seeks elaboration on vagueness or ambiguity and I think he could here as well.

Just focusing on their voices and mannerisms, Jamia sounds like a rather intelligent bright woman who is looking to make the world a better place, while the redhead sounds like a latte sipping arts major elitist pseudo intellectual. Her view completely lacks nuance.
@MidnightIsolde5 жыл бұрын
weirdly, I had the exact opposite impression. Jamia does come across as intelligent, however many of her talking points are essentially pre-packaged content, with the typical buzzword terminology and reference points one expects - e.g. just because someone mentions how important nuance is, doesn't mean that they actually practicing nuanced analysis themselves. Saying it doesn't mean you are doing it. Or, put anther way, if you have to say that you practice nuance for people to know it, then maybe you are not really doing it in reality.
@ShadowsMasquerade5 жыл бұрын
@@MidnightIsolde Agreed. Voice and mannerisms aren't as important as the content/what is being said. Murphy was more nuanced and made more objective sense.
