I think the problem with people discussing this is that many people view it as racist or prejudice towards people of Muslim faith.... I feel like people need to open there eyes more and see what's right in front of them. To be fair though Catholics, Christians, Jews, atheists, men, women, black, white, and so on, really aren't good at taking criticism without saying it's prejudice..... I myself am Catholic, but unlike some other catholics I can actually open my eyes, and listen to what people have to say, and sometimes there right.... Like when people criticize the Catholic church of being greedy.... It's true, and they talk a lot of nonsense as well.... It's just one of those things that will get better with time, but either way wish you luck finding the right one🥂

Talk about insecurity. Being Muslim doesn’t amount to “knowing” and “verifying” Arab culture or their behaviour in general. Stop pretending to “know” the Arab/Muslim world. You don’t even exercise modesty at all.

I have listened to many Muslim men on youtube talking about prospective wives, and wives, their daughters and sisters.... it was all too depressing. They certainly hate western women, but they seemed to despise Muslim women just as much. I listened to religious leaders advising fathers not to be in the same room as their little daughters incase they became aroused.... good grief this was their daughters!!!! Men laughing about how many wives they could have, and how to get rid of them. Little girls being married off when their bodies were too young to give birth. I could go on. There must be a high degree of mental health issues within the Muslim female community... but because of their circumstances never gets treated. One lady stated she had been abused physically and mentally for 45 years in her marriage.... she was simply told she would be rewarded after her death for perservering. Truly depressing, no one should have to endure this, when the UK has laws in place to protect women from physical and controlling behaviour.

That's a wise comment man. Either way in muslim countries we can see a variety of iterations of the holy guidelines. From Morocco to Azerbaijan, from Yemen to Syria and then in Malaysia and Iran women's condition and behavior can be different and in several respects can be poles apart from country to country. Regrettably I have to remark that most of muslim youtubers don't feel comfortable talking about stuff as such in this video. At a stage they give up... I can't get why.

This woman who you admire is either very ill informed or deliberately misinforms the very naive and emotional Western audience. For example, she constantly talks about FGM (female genital mutilation) in Islamic world. FGM is not an Islamic issue, it is a cultural issue which she does not (I think deliberately) mention. My background is Iranian, I am an atheist but I have to push back and say that there is no such a thing as FGM. In fact, I had never heard of it until I moved to Canada at the age of 20 and heard it from Oprah who, similar to this woman is very good at generalization without much research. It would be beneficial for general audience to mention that some of the countries with high cases of FGM are not Muslim majority countries, e.g. Ethiopia, Ivory Coast and Uganda

1999 Memphis court case proved the US killed MLK, the whole King family brought the case forward. Let's not forget the terrorism of the US or that the US is no pioneer for women's right, esp. considering they are the ones backing Saudi Arabia and death squads all over that take out egalitarian democracies that put people over profits. I agree with a lot of what the speaker says, but forgetting the US's role in this is ridiculous. It was proven in the Church Committee hearings the FBI spied on women in their living rooms talking about equal pay. Recall what they did to rich, famous, white, female movie star Jean Seberg. Recall what happened to Judi Bari in the early 1990s. What about Rachel Corrie, etc.

This was so good, I have to watch it a second time. Mona is brilliant. The main arguments against her points were either "this is not real, because it doesn't happen to me or my friends" and "patriarchy and violence against women happens everywhere so why single out us". She easily and respectfully crushed both arguments. If people are feeling uncomfortable about the subject, that's a good thing. Mission accomplished. Change does not occur from one's comfort zone.

But here, in most homes, you can fight it. My brothers always thought they were smarter than me & they were always trying to put me down. I never understood why they were doing this. I was the oldest child even & I married the best. I was the best at math. They knew why I didn't finish college. My husband's father was one of the richest men in Taiwan--even though he did lose his money later. I was hands down always better at writing than them. I think it was my father's doing. But still, I just gave them heck when they did it--and then I had my daughter--a child prodigy--and they shut up forever. This makes me wonder what they teach them in muslim homes & how the daughter's are treated, even by the mother.

Women in my family wear Niqab and not once have they been told to do so. The answer to your question in mind against Niqab is "Modesty" islam teaches Modesty and has a beautiful explaination of what and why a women should veil herself, And family members who chose not to wear it were never treated differently. Infact they are even more religious. Your spirituality is not based upon covering your head or face. You can be a higher ranking Muslim even if you dont wear niqab or hijab.

Do you need another woman to fight for your love and your equality ? Have you listened her, read her views on sexuality and more precise her promiscuity views ? She may have points on mutilation of girls but the rest of her is pure extremism and no respect for normal man woman love and realationship, family values , having love for kids as she has none etc . She has never experienced that so she does not know love hence she does not fight for your love or my love. She has not experienced love in a family union or equality relationship in a traditional relationship leave alone marriage . Its her own skewed views on something she really does not know as her own father daughter bond was broken . She needs therapy and then she may to go to fight the world from patriarchy . The truth owned this. Here, watch this: look up! See that? BLUE! I'm not mad at Bob Dylan for the comment. I think we are overdue as a species to have evolved to be able to see our own humanity in others and treat them accordingly. And I have been indoctrinated with sexism as much as anyone, even though it's wrong, I find myself let down that there are no men fighting to defend and protect their own sisters and wives. When a culture encodes into law and sanctions the abuse and terrorism of its most vulnerable property, there is a toxic kind of self-hatred at work that I pray doesn't spread like disease. No one, anywhere, should stand by in silence frankly while a beautiful car has its gears stripped by a bad driver, or while a dog is beaten by its owner, or while people walk into a holy place with light clean carpets wearing outdoor shoes. If we can understand basic principles of care and respect, even for inanimate objects, we must account for how we treat humans, God's most beloved creation. How do we respond? We (me) play god and sit in judgement on each other but do nothing at all.

Muslim men are trying to protect their mothers, wives and daughters from the monsters that are oppressing them, unfortunately, they are coming off as if they are the oppressors. Mehdi literally says, several times in the interview, that he *agrees with her* views on gender inequality in the Arab world. It is his job though to ask as many critical questions as possible in those 40 minutes that he gets to confront her. The show wouldn't have been called Head to Head if he was nodding all the time, agreeing with every statement she makes. I actually believe he gave her the perfect platform to spread her philosophy, which has now reached you and me and I think that's a good thing.

Women rarely stare & creep at men the way men stare at women. Maybe that's why all 3 Abrahamic religions impose that law. I was just watching a CNN news about a girl being murdered just because she mistaken a random car for her uber driver. There are pros and cons to every side. The quran's reference to the hijab is in verse 35:59 : "O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. And the bible's: "And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for it is just as if her head were shaved. 6If a woman does not cover her head, let her hair be cut off. And if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. 7A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.…"

lol man is the glory of god but woman is the glory of man?? Thats like saying my son looks like me but my daughter looks like my son - ??? who has the time for this nonsense? The bible was a book written a very very very long time ago. What do you think someone from 3000 years ago would think if you showed them the internet? It would definitely be some kind of witchcraft. And why are we worried about dishonoring our head when we can't even go a week without buying food covered in plastic if anything we need to be more concerned about dishonoring nature and the planet. Old books vs current relevant issues.

Islam claims that men are a degree above women and are their guardians who can discipline them for being disobedient as prescribed by allah to protect them. An ideology that only allows multiple wives but not multiple husbands is sexist. An ideology which claims that men are the guardians of women (who can discipline them when they are disobedient) as prescribed by allah to protect them is sexist. An ideology which provides virgins for men in heaven but no such equivalent for women is not only sexist but really twisted as well. It is no less offensive to me than an ideology which promotes white supremacy (but there is so much more about islam which is extremely contemptible other than the overt sexism). Google worst countries for women (almost all muslim) and best countries for women (none are muslim), google Gender Gap Index (it is about much more than wage equality), no muslim countries in the top 50, most of the worst 50 countries are muslim. It seems that secular teachings and man's laws are much more effective at protecting women than god's laws and teachings.. This couldn't possibly be so if allah was truly the all-knowing omnipotent creator of the world which he is purported to be. Women have been executed for being raped in muslim countries. Western women have been imprisoned for being raped in muslim countries. Today girls and women have been, are being and will be killed by their own family members because off this ideology they espouse, yesterday girls and women were killed by their own family members because of this ideology they espouse (and so many Western leaders and other apologists pander to enabling its proliferation) and tomorrow girls and women will be killed by their own family members because of this barbaric 7th century ignorance.

There is nothing bigoted about being contemptuous of extremely virulent ignorance (and those who espouse it without whom it would be harmless) created by a sadistic, inbreeding, 7th century pedophile warlord who is still the role model for nearly a quarter of the world's population.

@@waheedabashir4898 Islam is fundamentally misogynist and the world would be better off without it. The nikaab exists to cover women because they are considered a man's property their whole lives, so yes, it should never have been invented. It over-sexualizes women, even children, and it doesn't prevent any of the things apologists claim it does (rape, sexual harassment, etc.). All it does is assert that a woman's hair, neck, etc. are fundamentally sexual in nature, her body is inherently lewd and must be covered up, and if it isn't she's fair game for abuse (even though she will be abused even if she keeps it on). I'm disgusted by men I see in the summer in board shorts, wife beater, douchebag chains and sandals, walking around with a woman in a full burka, totally black (they are never white, unlike most men's clothing in the arab region; if she's lucky it could be blue; a not-so-subtle hint they don't want women walking around outside?).

I'd like to see a woman interviewing her. This would be more credible. If my English was better I would destroy her generalizing claims in a few minutes. Because it's absolute bs, what she's saying. First of all, not all the Arabic speaking cultures are the same. There are s.c. Arabs from Maghreb to Sham (Syria&Iraq). There is a huge difference between those mentalities. And a lot of Arab men may be more conservative than western men. But that doesn't mean, that they hate women. Japanese men are more traditional, too. Their wives stay at home, if they got children. Does this mean that they hate women??? As I was in a few Arab countries, like for example Morocco or Egypt, I noticed that simply education is important. A farmer from the village is not similar to an educated arabic man from the city. There's a big difference.
