The whole premise of this video is wrong. The concepts of serifs (0:33), kerning (1:26), overhang (5:08), and ligatures (7:55) are only relevant in typesetting. So how could you possibly use them to improve your handwriting? 1:26 No - that’s tracking. Kerning is the tiny adjustments that you need to make to the default tracking for individual letter pairs. 2:01 This image is so wrong, and on top of that, it’s not even what you said. (Look at the ‘kerning’ arrow.) 7:04 No, no, no. Only with calligraphic pens. You can write in cursive with a ballpoint pen just fine, nothing ‘overwhelming’ (7:50). 8:28 How is this whole section relevant? 9:00 This is a lovely, readable handwriting. What’s bad about it? That it doesn’t look as if a computer typeset it? 9:22 The weight of a ‘c’, the proportion of an ‘e’? Terrible video. A combination of ten Google searches, by only looking at the first suggested answer.

I have all letters in words connected. It’s a handwriting from elementary school and only some capital letters aren’t connected to the word. I also realised that people either can read my handwriting easily or they can't at all or can just barely. People who can read my handwriting easily are people who also use more complex handwriting. There’s like two ways I know of that people read handwriting. The way with directional changes and requirements each letter fulfills and the way that looks at the way how the pen was moved (in the way that m can look like a w or something). There’s is still a lot more to handwriting and writing by hand with all letters being disconnected is way slower and it’s easy to read once you learn a second handwriting.

@sblowes26 күн бұрын
@@koimananana Serif’s aren’t used in handwriting because then it would be calligraphy. But even the typographical terminology in this video is incorrect; kerning isn’t letter-spacing, as depicted here. The best way to improve your handwriting is that put your lower case letters in words in the same lane, your writing will look much more cleaner. And while writing paragraphs, leave some space. And maybe check out other fonts, i used to write in cursive and my writing was that of a 5th grader but then i chose to write normally like in this font and after some weeks of practice i got hang of it and now i have the best writing in my school and even got a award for it. Always remember that color theory actually works for writing too, like while writing my papers, i take a thin calligraphy dark blue marker which is also cut to give the cool effect writing and i use it for headings and topics, meanwhile for writing questions i use the same color marker but one which is more thinner and not cut. And for answers, i use a very thin like very thin ball point/ gel pen which is also blue, now this blue is more lighter than the markers and for the diagrams, i use black gel pen and pencil for shading trust me, shading makes every diagram 10000x more better try it.

Kerning is the adjustment of space between two problematic glyphs like "LT" and "aj". Tracking is the overall space between all letters throughout a line of text. Disliked for spreading incorrect information.

I have different handwriting depending on my emotional state, normally it's just messy, if I'm really anxious or excited it gets even worse however, if I'm way too emotional or overwhelmed or i kind of shut down it tends to get really neat and uniform. Weird huh. Literally I can tell what kind of state I was in by looking at how I wrote at that time, the neat one looks so different from my normal one.

I recently found out that the reason my handwriting is so messy and notoriously bad is because my brain tends to generate words faster that sometimes my fingers cant keep up. Occasionally, when I write essays there would be missing words because I thought that I have already written them down. I remember my english teacher scolding me about my bad handwriting and because of it I almost failed my 3rd grade english class. 😂

My aunt has doctor-type handwriting. I've gotten better at reading it, but even with her making an effort to write neatly I have to guess about one word out of four or five 😭 And that's with her making an effort 😭😭😭 Mine on the other hand...Well, I used to draft my stories by hand, AND I draft really slowly in the first place, so I took the habit of writing very neatly. I often get compliments about it when people see me write We couldn't be more different in that apsect haha Edit: There are two cases in which my handwriting can get messy. I write on the smaller and tighter end, so my gs and ys tend to hang down into the letters below, which can make it messy when right under them is an h or an l or something. Also I'm forced to write rather slowly, otherwise it gets VERY messy (this also happens when I try to write while my hand hurts. Makes it harder to draw letters properly, and I start going a little cursive and spacing my letters a bunch and making them larger. It's not a good combinasion lol) Doesn't happen often though. And for the letters that hang down, I'll often go over that bit by slanting the l underneath or something to make things more legible
