@ktwashere5637Күн бұрын
really, it "started" with Obama?
@TheDigitalThreatКүн бұрын
it really did begin with Obama. I'm 47, and had come to this understanding as well. Through 80's and 90's race wasn't an issue to 99.99% of people. Blacks and whites intermingled in school and nobody thought twice about it - even in middle to upper class schools where there would be 3-4x more white than black students. White kids looked up to black sports heroes even more so than any of the white ones... While sure a small minority of society were the KKK types, there had also always been those anti whites looking to stick it to ole whitey. People in general understood those people were the outliers as society itself had moved on. Obama swooped in and within 2 years high schools began doing racial ethics classes and this entire nonsense began festering into the rot its become today, to the point I've seen these Diangelo books in elementary school librarys. Now an entire generation of black kids have grown up being told whites are all racists assholes kneeling on their necks, and entire generation of white kids told they are the spawn of the devil because of their DNA. Then people wonder why race relations are at all time lows.

Basically revealing that at least some of the people involved in these DEI programs are very anti-white and/or just out to make money from people and companies. It's a problem when you say that someone is automatically racist because of the color of their skin. That isn't to say that all of these people are. I actually would have really appreciated him brining in someone that was more reasonable, saying that what they were saying was reasonable, and then explaining that it wasn't what the film was about and the film is really about them exposing the extreme parts of this industry. I also would have really appreciated an explanation of why equity and equality can't exist at the same time, at least not if you focus on equity. The result of a focus on equity, which is measured and explained as different demographics having an equal outcome, then you have a constantly moving target that can likely only be temporarily achieved. But if you focus on equality, which is a focus on making sure that all demographics have the same opportunities, then you can achieve those equal opportunities and in theory you should eventually have equity without needing to change anything. It may take some time, but unless there is specifically something about the demographics that make them unequal then you should eventually have equal outcomes.

However, pursuing equality of outcome without considering individual effort or merit can be harmful. It often leads to unintended consequences, stifling motivation and innovation, and ultimately undermining the foundations of a healthy, functioning society

The movie is called, "Am I a Racist?". It's pretty clear that the movie IS aligned to how it had been framed to those who were in the doc - as being about "anti-racism" - they unfortunately (through their internal bias) understood it to be focused on their agenda - that's not Walsh's fault. The movie's participants (including Walsh) talked about the concept of racism; the metrics by which people are assessed as being either racist or not; and how people are assessed against those metrics....all of these supposedly are in the name of anti-racism. Walsh only did one thing that the participants weren't told he would do and that is test the validity of those metrics given that since the inception of this anti-racism industry, racial tensions are at an all-time high...part of assessing the validity of the metrics understandably includes the individuals responsible for them too. They've been exposed as the grifters they are and the idea of expecting that Walsh ought to be transparent with grifters makes no sense to me and I suppose why this nonsense has been able to carry on for so long despite the blatant damage to society.

If you have a racist law, that is a hole in your boat that needs to be fixed. Once you eliminate that law, you have fixed the hole and your boat is no longer in danger. Once the racist laws are gone, they are gone. The guy claiming it's still a problem NEEDS those problems to continue to exist so he can grift off that.
@j.c.jeggis18182 күн бұрын
That’s a good metaphor, because the boat will still be full of water after the hole is fixed. Racism doesn’t disappear the second the laws are changed, but changing more laws won’t help anything.

@michaelmurray6197Күн бұрын
@@j.c.jeggis1818 Agreed. But the solution isn't to then turn around and put new holes in the boat in different locations in an attempt to even out the boat. The solution is to pump out the water, which may take a bit of time. It's exactly why you can't have both equity and equality at the same time, or at least you can't if you pursue equity first. Equity is the idea that different demographics should have equal outcomes. Since it's measured by the outcomes of the demographics you are left with a constantly shifting set of policies and opportunities that vary by demographics and can only ever temporarily reach some type of balance between the demographics. Equality on the other hand pursues the idea of every demographic having the same opportunity. This means you have an unchanging set of policies and opportunities that are provided to everyone. Eventually this should also result in equity between the demographics as long as there isn't some inherent difference between those demographics. For example men and women have some inherent differences so it's difficult to achieve equity between the two groups even when you have equality, some people view this as being okay as long as you have equality and some people think that further steps need to be taken. But with racial demographics it makes sense that equality would eventually result in equity. So your focus on policy should be an approach from equality and equity only comes into play when you want to measure the result, if equality hasn't achieved equity then either enough time hasn't passed or additional sources of inequality exist and need to resolved. For decades we saw this go on where we kept on asking why the different races weren't equal and kept on finding things that needed to be fixed. Redlining being a decent example of this. But we have only moved forward when those were approached from and resolved from a viewpoint of equality rather than equity. It's only once we looked at it and realized we couldn't find additional inequality and said that at this point we maybe just need a generation or two of equality to pass that people have started to freak out and want more. Certain groups got so used to hearing that there was inequality in America that they can't handle hearing that this is no longer the case. If you don't believe that America has achieved equality, or at least had achieved it before this DEI nonsense, then name a racist law that is currently on the books. I'd be happy to fight it along with every Democrat and Republican out there. From my experience I have seen far more issues of anti-white and anti-Asian policy or issues between non-white racial groups. Things like multiple white and Asian people I know that weren't able to get scholarships and accepted into schools due to their race, and were literally told this by academic advisors. Or the whole light skin and dark skin thing going on in the African American community in Georgia. There is also a ton of tension among different groups based on the national origins of those groups. That happens a lot with immigrants from Africa, South America, and from Asia. Many of those groups don't get along with each other, but most white people are very ignorant and think they are all the same. But these DEI scammers just focus on the problems with white people and ignore the far more difficult and nuanced issues that are going on in our society. Although luckily most of those issues resolve after a generation or two, which is why America is often described as a melting pot.
@thomgizzizКүн бұрын
@@j.c.jeggis1818 Well if you are talking about the boat being fixed then you don't get to talk about other issues. That is like saying you take your car that doesn't have gas and is broken to the mechanic and they fix the car and then you come back and say it isn't fixed because there is no gas in it. Two separate issues.

He was a deceiver, he took advantage of people's kindness, he's one sided, he wants to destroy something good, etc. Most people can't handle having their ideas ruthlessly mocked without getting angry. For example, I'm pretty good at remaining calm, but I get unreasonably angry when people mock the music I like. It's so important to me that it feels like they're mocking an aspect of my being. That doesn't mean my anger is justified though. I really shouldn't be getting that upset. My point is that a reaction like we see in the video is not a left/right thing. It's a people thing.
