nobody care these kind of negative aspect .... you experienced it that why you are talking about it .......another thing is Perception may be your perception is mixed like good and bad both.....but majority of People see consulting as Top carrier Choice .......even top MBA college like Insead , Wharton IIM ABC place 50 percent of their student in Top Consulting Firm .......3rd thing is Supply and Demand .....Demand of always controlled by MBB firm while supply is huge specially from Top Bschool to Join Consulting ....other wise you tell me which other company sponsor your MBA from Insead , Wharton or Hravard etc

Not only management consultants. Even engineering consultants are the same. It is my firm opinion that consultants are such a waste of time . Most of them have no field experience and their work reflects that. I feel it would be better if firms that need consultation start forming small consulting units in their own office among their own staff. Saves a lot of money and rework and headache.

People always find ways to be unhappy….It’s same as people always find ways to be happy. It’s all in the situation one himself is in….No need such videos to share individual situation and classifying as Mckenzy or generalizing for others situation. If one dont have money or salary, then any situation is brilliant ..awesome. Such issues only hit when you are in luxury and have nothing else to do for society. By the way I’ was also in somewhat luxury/complacent position….had similar thinking but having done root cause analysis , concluded that it’s not this/that company or bosses…..it’s more of myself not having clear objectives and real initiatives or responsibilities to serve society (not restricted to family/ community). Now at a bit peace. BALANCED. With no much high expectations.

Management consulting firms don't add any value and are a net negative contribution to the economy as a whole. They mostly hire fresh graduates with no real industry experience. its a good video. Despite not being a mgmt. consultant, one can tell you that writing down plans and reports are a pain, that regular employees do not want to take up especially if its contents can disrupt their functioning. So they provide a type of secretarial service. A new study by BCG showed that the lower quartile of their consultants + chatgpt ~ top quartile.

Hi Sir.. Greetings!!! For question, I would like to answer it more aptly... U could have answered them that if Big firms would have that capacity to make decisions that their consultants take fir them.. They won't be called as CEO's or CFOs though... They should start calling them consultants either... Also there is this tendency in human that they need AFFIRMATIONS speciallt u dealing with big issue... And of course...last but foremost...management need somebody to blame if some blunder happens... Board of directors won't take it to their shoulders... As they lack guts to accept their mistakes... So definitely... Being a consultant is like management firing keeping gun at consultants shoulder. Hence... as far as consultants job ll never go out of fashion... In fact ll rise like nything... Actually... Consultants r the ones who actually running a firm.

The dislike of consultants is actually not new - decades ago when I was a management consultant, the dislike was there. Often the sense was that consultants were hired because management didn't have the fortitude to do what was necessary - usually cutting costs. Recently, however, there have been some very public issues with McKinsey and its role in the opioid crisis in the US (they were heavily involved with Perdue Pharma and the US FDA in pushing OxyContin as a "safe" drug) and McKinsey's involvement with several less-than-savory governments, just to name a few.

Its not just Consultants. You think Bankers add much value ? Think again. They cant directly add value in the true sense even if they wanted to. These are middle men industries designed to increase efficiency and productivity by helping companies and individuals to allocate and reallocate resources. The main problem is that there is no actual evidence that these industries do increase efficiency or productivity. And that's where the problem lies. For example, in 1950 of all the Fortune 500 companies that existed in the US, only 47 of them exist today. The others have been wiped out. Interesting thing here is the ALL of them used the services of Consulting firms from year to year. So to say that Consulting Firms make industries more productive and efficient is a hard sell just based on historical data alone.
