In today's game Drazen would kick serious ass... 3pt, FT, lay up's, damn I watched him as a kid and he was bigger then anyone in my eyes. When my friend told me Drazen died, I cried like a baby.

A united Yugoslavia team would have given them a run. Imagine a starting five Danilovic, Divac, Djorjevic, Kucoc and Petrovic. Only Kucoc and Petrovic gave them a hard time, with a full Yugoslavia squad it would have been a close game.

MJ never forgets. Drazen was an outstanding shooter even for NBA standards, and he is frequently mentioned alongside Curry, Miller, Bird etc as an elite NBA shooter. No wonder, since Drazen worked every day on his shooting, shooting more than 5000 shots each day...

Im 43 & Drazen came into the league when I was 10 or so. The age right when I was getting into the sport. I lived in NYC so the Nets were sorta a home team. (We kinda adopt the Jersey teams even though they get hate). Drazen was a star from day 1. He played todays style 25 years before it was a thing. Now everyone is a European & does these moves. Drazen invented most of it when it came to NBA exposure. I had the guy on every video game he was in back then & after he died I kept making him with create a player mode on NBA Live 95 etc... Drazen lived on for quite awhile in my world as he did so many others even though I was a Knicks fan I always wondered how many chips we would have won had he been on our team.

Drazen Petrovic was an outstanding 3 point shooter, and his efficiency was up there with players such as Reggie Miller, Clyde Drexler, and Dominique Wilkins.

@@monolithgeometry3221 I actually find that YOUR comment is way closer to the word "embarassing" than what Damon Sonnier wrote. His comment is an actually very widely accepted perspective on Drazen's tragically shortened career, not just all accross Europe. Just ask e.g. basketball connaisseurs around New Jersey. Or older Euroleague fans. They know how much Drazen torchured with his ball club Cibona Zagreb elite clubs like Maccabi Haifa, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona etc. during the 80ies. He basically toyed with them. And he had a game of 100+ points in Yugoslav league once (a GOAT-like scoring output, like late Wilt Chamberlain). The Yugoslav league was no joke, and even today still some clubs are doing OK (level-wise, not financially), on a level compared to the NCAA, or slightly short of most elite Euroleague basketball teams these days. Any solid baller try to score 100 points against athletic 16 year old boys, I doubt one could do it nearly as close, and for sure not so graciously!

It's the company that that ignorant person put Drazen in for shooting efficiency. He embarrassed himself, you, and anyone that agrees with him . Yeah, Reggie Miller is right there shooting wise ,maybe better ,wide open ,but Drazen was "creating" his own offense, not to mention, and even more importantly, offense for others,.....which the "new class "... knows nothing about. The other names little baby bubblehead mentioned. Shame. You guys must learn all your 90s basketball from Inside The NBA 😂

Drazen was a legend: I remember him very well, I was a teen back then with turkis-kurdish origin living in Germany. I got really sad, wen I heard he died in an car accident in Munich Germany.

@@jamminj9554 I am well aware of what he did in Europe. That is why he is a big what if in the NBA and at the international level. I don't feel he reached his prime at either level. Take Dirk for example who was good in Germany but came to the NBA and established himself as an international Superstar. Petro had the talent to do this but just wasn't around long enough to establish himself as an able competitor to Magic, MJ, and Bird for example.

My point is there is no what if, he was a beast and on his way to doing more beastly shit. There was a high possibility that Petrovic was ready to play in Europe in 1993-94 season in Panathinaikos. Galis, who was the European Championship league top average scorer with 30+ points (record yet to be broken), was also in that team. With those 2 players plus Stoiko Vrancovic who was a close friend of Drazen, that team would likely have dominated Europe for 2-3 years. After that Drazen may have attempted an NBA return as an even better player

they were a strong team but they competed in 1992 at a time when East Europe and Soviet Union were in turmoil either with wars or serious financial crisis and this affected their sports too. Those countries had the best sports infrastructure in the world and a whole school for sports like football, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, tennis etc Yugoslavia did not participate in 1992-94 but from 1995-2002 they became a dominant force, even giving the 1996 dream team a run for their money for 30 minutes. That was the second best team after the 1992 one, with 5 players from the 1992 team plus Olajuwon and O'Neal. If they had help from Croatia and Petrovic was alive, the result would be different. 1992 team was unbeatable, unless they played on Yugoslavia 's home turf where the atmosphere would be very tense for the Americans but even then they' d have won but not by 30-40 points. Maybe 10-15 points. Except if there were disqualifications.

I watched lived on TV that olympic Final, I remember that mkment when the croatian guy dunked.... I got excited but the sensation was that there real and unique Dream Team was unbeatable .....whatever else Dream Team could have beaten by that Croatia team ....but '92's was different I didn't know that story about MJ and Drazen's brother ..... interesting

I think they were in New Orleans as the Hornets for a time. Basically since MJ has had majority ownership since like 2012 and has had to rely on his own financial resources.
