Ultrawide monitors have become popular recently, they allow you to have more real estate while taking up less space than two monitors. But which monitor size is the best in 2022 ? The Benq MOBIUZ EX3415R VS LG 38WN75C VS SAMSUNG LC49RG90SSNXZA are good monitors for coding, movies, video editing and productivity. But there are drawbacks to all. In the video I mentioned that 34" is the most flexible size it offers the best value.

Thanks for the comparison. Covered most of the aspects i was looking for. I do believe as you concluded the 34-38" best setup.. 49 is just to wide to be consumed so close. This video helped me understand it visually.

thx for the video! really nice comparison. made me choose the 35" inch lg over the 38" (which is more than 2x the price). I also do not have a lot of space on my desk and this gave me a realistic view of how it would be. thx!

Thanks for the video. I use two 27 inch monitors with thin bezels. Going to get a 49 inch because those bezels still bother me when using huge Excel spreadsheets and do other work related stuff. Sometimes I need to have three, four or more open windows and a 34 would be too smal.

I am on the other hand currently using a 34" (1440p) ultra wide monitor who's seriously considering a 32" 4K monitor for productivity. I used my current monitor for 4 years now and as developer I don't think 1440p is tall enough. Quite often I found myself scrolling up and down to navigate through my scripts which is not so convenient for me.

you should have tried the P40w-20 from lenovo. it's a 5120x2160 ~40" panel. monitor size alone is not enough because you need the correct resolution to go with it that makes it all ergonomic. in my coding productivity setup i split this monitor in 3 columns which gives me decent horizontal space for each window and 2160pixel worth of vertical, which is great for viewing code, lists and have windows that have a top bottom split like chrome + debugger. 40" is also ideal to avoid neck movement and makes the distance workable at an arm's length distance(recommended for ergonomics). i see you also have a thunderbolt dock there. that monitor includes a TB4 dock with plenty of power delivery to keep your laptop topped up and reduce cable clutter drastically!

Some of the extra diagonal size can come from increased height (not width) which is great for productivity. Look for 1600 vertical instead of 1440. Professional panels were traditionally 16:10 instead of 16:9 (see Dell Ultra and Mac Book Pro for examples). An ultrawide version of a professional panel is (for example) 3840x1600.

@@user-me3nr6no9p No, they are 24:10. Do the math. Also 1600 vertical pixels comes from standard QHD+ which is 16:10 variant of 1440p. It is perfectly correct to think of this display as an "ultrawide extension of 16:10".

I have an lg38 and while I love the ability to put a ton of windows on the screen I find myself reading email or web pages on the far left and it is noticeable in your neck after awhile. I have to make myself move windows to the other side to even it out. I'm happy with the purchase overall but if I was going to do it again I think I would go 34 with a second portable monitor under for other tasks. It does look beautiful on a desk though.

I couldn't stand the 34" as I was missing some size. The jump to 38" made productivity so much better for me. I think it is different, when you had used 27" 1080p resolution before. If you have been using 27" 1440p, I think your conclusion would be different!

The best monitor for productivity is 49" 32:9 but with R1000 curve, otherwise you will encounter the problems which were shown in the review. R1000 allows to turn your head just a little bit to see another side of the monitor (only in case that you sit at around 80-100 cm from the display). It allows to switch windows or work in different ones very fast and comfortably.

Wow, after watching so many videos, yours was just a lot better than all the rest. Good things you did 1. No-nonsense logical review and conviction to say what you don't think will work. Yes, more. than 34 inch is overkill 2. Unboxing and setup allowed us to see the perspective. Nice placement of cameras to show us how to look at the screens from your POV 3. You actually showed the result than just saying something, esp on the LG color inconsistency. 4. What sets you apart and I think it's why I like your review -- you're a developer. (I've been coding as a hobby for 5 years now but still holding on to my actual profession, so I cannot afford those ultrawide monitors you reviewed) As such, you gave that unique perspective compared to those who reviewed ultrawides for gaming. 5. Liked that you considered your space and table size. All reviews are focused on just the monitor, not how the experience will feel like. I am shopping for ultrawides because I have an M1 Macbook air and I cannot use dual monitors. I've shopped for USB-C adapters but I've also seen on YT and read about how they can damage Macbook M1s and probably M2 as well. They were not meant to be used with dual monitors. As a compromise, I am thinking of just buying a cheap laptop and use that with my Macbook so I can have two monitors -- one for watching coding tutorials, one for coding. Is this a good idea?
@bottomlinereviews6798
@bottomlinereviews6798 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. In my experience, one good monitor > 2 cheap monitors. I actually went with a 43 inch Samsung Qn90b, it's on the pricier side but TVs like this one are finally good enough to use as monitors in 2022. They also provide excellent media consumption experience which I wanted as well and you are future proof for at least 5-7 years. Of coure it takes up room but you quickly get used to it and in my case because of my longer torso I can take advantage of the height of the monitor. Your milage will vary, another good option are USED Dell 43" monitors, I definitely think square & large monitors are the way to go for coding.

The 49 inch monitors is like having two 27 inch monitors side by side and it's the best for both productivity and if you like to game, make sure have a strong video card. Hands down 49 inch is the ultimate especially a 5120x1440 resolution at 1 ms response time at 240hz for future proof. Yes use a display port cable and make sure you sit back and have your eyes 28 to 36 inches away from it. Then you'll see what it's all about.

It's not the same as 2x 27 inch. It's the same width but not height (27 inch is taller than 49 inch). That's why in my view 38 inch is best if you use monitor for productivity as well aside from gaming. It's got extra height compared to both 34 and 49.

Friendly hint: You can put your monitor on another desk, which stands behind the desk that you are working on. This solves the depth of your desk as a bottleneck for the screen area you can use without head movement. 2nd hint: Think focus distance and viewing angle first, let the monitor size be a function of this. Acknowledgement: I learned that recently from someone else.
