I've got moldy tyres 😢. Now springs here got the bike out of the shed and the tyres have mold all the way round, something to do with the sealant maybe?

One mention for loosing air in your tubeless setup when everything seems ok:Shake your sealant before filling up. If it rests in the bootle all the good sealant stuff seperates from the rest of the fluid.

I agree, Shimano ME7 and MW7 shoes are amazing. They are one of the few things in life that if they wore out, I would just go and buy the same again - no questions asked. It is also surprising how much I use the MW7. I thought they would be wet weather only, but they are so comfortable that I use them in the wet and in cooler conditions from late autumn to mid spring.

Good to see you back Doddy. ❤ To person with leaky tubeless tires: I had a case where a manufacturing residue kept the sealant from sticking to the inside of the tire and sealing. Conti tires seem to be known for that. If you wash them out with soap before use, everything works allright.

Best mtb innovations have to be the Brand x Ascend II, Pikes, Hope hubs, Hope brakes, literally everything Intend do, Magura brakes and SRAM Eagle. Worst has to be internal hose routing, SRAM brakes, Fox prices and 27.5 as a replacement for 26 (27.t is great but 26 is more fun).

Marzocchi Z1 Bomber from way back, in all its iterations from the first 100mm Z1 in 1997 to the following 130mm Z1 BAM in 1998. Sure, some people liked to believe their glue stick "springs" were adequate but my Z1 Bombers still perform exceptionally well 26 years later, with their slimline 30mm stanchions and 9mm quick release front axle.

My hardtail is a 27.5. At size xl, I've got it down to around 28lbs without a dropper. It's bombproof and I really appreciate how much lighter than my full suss it is. I'd change that rear tire though for sure. I had assegai's on front and rear of another bike and it was a literal drag. I liked the dissector rear and dhr/f from another. It had plenty of grip for hydrocut and horseshoe.

@NICKPORTER I have a Chromag Surface Voyager and it's the best chromoly steel hardtail I've ever owned. I know you can get here in the States and Canada(made in Whistler BC), but not sure about costs to ship to the UK. Guerrilla Gravity makes a super solid frame as well. Just a few suggestions if you happen to read the comments.

Kona still makes the regular Honzo in steel as the the ST, but those are frame only. That one has like a 67* hta, while the Honzo ESD(extra slack dude) is the model you referenced. Kona also makes the Unit still, which is their bikepacking rigid mtb that is sus corrected for up to 110mm of travel. Essentially an xc geo bike adventures.

Had an axs reverb for a couple of years but now use a cable! Bit of a pain shimming the seat tubes on whatever bike I put it on and obviously messing around with a battery, not that it ever ran out and obviously you might need more drop for a different bike frame which was the main reason I sold it! It suited the original bike but you obviously want to use it on every bike, shame it wasn’t adjustable really🤔

2007 I think with the stans. Intense tyres were on the "don't use" list and you fitted them anyway and it exploded off the tyre round Cwmcarn and you nearly lost your finger in the resulting crash. Listen to your boy!

Good to have you back Doddy! I’ve got a Deore 12 speed mech that is very sluggish when shifting into higher gears (smaller cogs). It works ok when I turn the clutch off, but when it's on it’s pretty much unresponsive. No amount of barrel adjustment seems to help, and the bike is only about a month old so the cable and housing are clean and working fine. Any ideas? Cheers! #askgmbntech

#AskGMBNTech Hi. I have a SRAM GX AXS on my Canyon Spectral 125 and it works great. However, if I backpedal on the largest cog the chain slips down the cassette. This is especially annoying if restarting on a steep climb. Is this a chainline issue or is it something that I can fix? All other gears are absolutely fine. Thanks!
@pretzelhunt Жыл бұрын
god that tubeless spiel is exactly the reason I despise it, and still have to pull my Klein down cuz there is no fixing all those problems; it's like a pilots' checklist of troubleshooting problems for a single gd flat. and then it's different the next time-- or the same-- it doesnt matter, as it all takes 20 minutes on the trail or roadside.
@lukemacmullan5027 Жыл бұрын
#AskGMBNTech I recently put a new hydraulic brake on my dirt jumper. It came set up so it didn't need to be bled as I wasn't cutting it, but I had to connect the hose to the brake lever (it was a Shimano J-kit system I think). While connecting it, the hose became a bit spiralled, as in when loose there were circles in the hose in between the frame and the lever. This led to a part of the cable becoming kinked when practicing the bar spin motion. Wondering if I need to have the hose replaced, or if there is an easier solution? Im not too bothered if it may start leaking in the future, I'm more concerned that it would burst when going down a road or something. Any advice on what to do?
Hello Doddy! I agree, nothing screams "dentist" bikes like headset cable routing. but bike shops love them bcoz it means more business for them😅😅😅

#askgmbntech Hey guys, recently changed my 150mm Fox 36 forks for 170mm 29" Fox 38 forks on my ebike, the information for going for a different sized fork is very convoluted, stupidly I installed the fork without a crown race, which (on a small ride around the block) felt understandably horrific, but then when I got it back and chucked it on I now prefer the extra 20mm travel and 29er up front. I was wondering if you could cover this in a little more detail, as it was near enough impossible to find someone who said it would basically be alright (aside for the warranty, obviously). Thanks guys, nice to see Doddy's face again!

#AskGMBNTech - I'm setting chain length on my Esker Elkat, it's got 150mm rear travel, fox dpx2 rear shock, and SRAM Gx drivetrain with 10-52 cassette. Using 32t chainring. Derailleur has 42t capacity. I'm finding that the derailleur does not take out all the slack in the high gear after setting chain length per SRAM method. Can I go shorter on the chain without risking damage if shock fully compresses?
