I’ve lived in Manitoba all my life (I love Winnipeg!) & I can’t remember seeing shorts outdoors when it’s colder than -15c. I have, however, seen snow fall in June, and in September. I love the film-making scene here, and if you do too, definitely check out the Exchange district. And if you love theatre like I do, come in the 2nd half of July for the awesome Fringe Theatre festival, where you can see over a hundred different shows.

If you come for winter, I suggest the last two weeks of February. The days are getting longer and warmer and you can check out the Festival du Voyager, the second biggest winter festival in Canada celebrating the French pioneers, Metis and native fur trappers and traders who plied there trades along the banks of the Red and Assiniboine rivers and many other tributaries and lakes from Thunderbay to the the northern territories of Canada. It's a fun filled two weeks.

Winnipegger here. Pretty decent video and good info *in general*. Couple of things: 1. Canada has two official languages, English & French. That’s why all signs in Canada are bilingual (by law). It’s not a Winnipeg thing. 2. Pretty close on the winter thing, but it left the impression that winter lasts until May. Not so. We usually get our snow that stays for the winter (as opposed to falling & melting) around the middle of Nov. and the spring melt usually starts in March. We’re usually golfing by mid-April. But yes, sometimes we’ll get a freak snow as late as June, but anything after mid-April just melts within an hour. Winters can have a couple of “cold snaps” each year that can last as long as 2 weeks, but those are the extremes. Usually not nearly that cold. The good news is, when it’s cold, it’s also brilliantly sunny, and the streets are bone dry. When it gets warm, it’s more cloudy, and the streets get messy. I prefer the cold, sunny days (within reason!). Go Jets Go!!!

In the last 20 years it has warmed up and we get about 1 1/2 less months of winter. I know on Halloween , lots of times there was snow and it was cold and I have see it take until May for the snow to melt but not in the last 25 years. I worked outside on CN and froze at -25 many times on March 25. April was the month everything melted but now it is March. I have seen it snow in July once in the 1970's. It will continue to warm up. The more northern places will be warming up more. Florida will not notice any difference but northern Manitoba already has much warmer weather than in the past.

The city is as beautiful as it is heart-rending. The (new) mayor and council have their work cut out for them in cleaning up the obvious, long-standing problems of poverty and crime. Beyond that, it's a city with "great bones" and could literally go either way at this turnpike.

thank you for the nice video of Winnipeg .in the summer month of July and august are great . folk feast in July. in bird hill park an out door music festival start in 1974 about 70,000 attend . also folkarama is festival of culture in august. vist different pavilions . enjoy the food from about 30 Folklorama is an event that runs for two weeks each August in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Visitors to the festival are invited to sample cuisine and celebrate the cultural and ethnic heritage of people from dozens of cultures who have made Winnipeg their home. Folklorama is the world's largest and longest-running multicultural festival. Each culture has an assigned venue, known as a pavilion.

Winnipeg is in the heart of lake country, surrounded by many lakes nearby and very nice beaches on those lakes, which can be very refreshing on one of those 30+ degree days in the summer.

Nice to hear good things about Pegcity since I live here and see the soft underbelly and hear just the negative things. I guess that happens everywhere. It's a tough but resourceful city. It's been said if you can survive here, you can survive anywhere. You obviously stayed around the touristy areas which are very nice. I still haven't gone to the human rights museum, someday. A lot of the city isn't in the tourist brochures, you have to venture out and ask around or just look around. Hope you make it back this way an see more.

If you stay on the main roads all you'll see are strip malls, but if you drive into neighbourhoods you'll see how Winnipeggers really live. Check out Lyndale Drive, or Riverview, or Tuxedo (yes, it's really called Tuxedo). Check out Wolseley, especially in summer when the place comes alive with front yard gardens. You'll love it!

But if you like historical things there is no finer museum than Winnipeg Museum of Natural History. Previously known as the Winnipeg Museum of Man and Nature.

Great Info-video! Wish you could have also focused on some of the beaches located at southern part of Lake Winnipeg. Those would be a huge draw for tourists and only 45 min. north east and north west of the city. Lake Winnipeg, Canada's sixth largest lake features Grand Beach on the eastern side with powdery white sand beaches and grass-topped dunes that make this one of the top beaches in North America with sand dunes and lagoons supporting many species of wild birds. Also on the western side of the lake we have Winnipeg Beach and the Gimli Municipality with Icelandic origins. Both sides easily accessible and close to the City for day trips.

Its a unique little city....but not a whole lot going on to be honest. It hasn't changed much in 20 plus yrs. You could be walking downtown and never know it! Lol, its a ghost town. Where is everybody? I lived in the peg for 6 yrs and u less u have a car it can be a pain to get around. Winters are brutal. Summers are beautiful. The Forks is probably the best part of the entire city. There just isn't much happening and people don't seem to go out much. 🤷🏼‍♂️. I now live in Toronto and its an amazing, amazing city! I wouldnt want to live anywhere else in Canada.

Just read this today July.28 2023. Just yesterday a young store owner went out his front door to talk to a guy that grabbed a drink and simply walked out. He yelled at him as he walked away and the guy turned around whipping out a saw off shot gun and blasted him. Yes, because he got yelled at by an actual working person. I personally know home envision victims, kidnap victims(yes, both plural), a victim of attempted murder, multiple assault causing bodily harm, and more victims of who have been legit victims of death threats. Funny how people think Montreal is all that when in fact the people in Montreal are the rudest Canadians. If I dare call them Canadian, as Quebec is pure poision for your good reputation. In Montreal the only friendlyness is attached to tipping. In Winnipeg you find genuin friendly people. Montreal is dirty and run down. Winnipeg is clean and has many new facilites. Montreal is the color grey 90% of the time while Winnipeg is the color blue must of the time. It rain nearly everyday in Montreal while Winnipeg is very sunny. The ground in Montreal is a mix of cement, black top and parks are muddy. While Winnipeg is green and has nice grassy parks. Montreal has nice architectute but places are shabby and mostly run down and delapitated. Winnipeg has some very good architecture and is much better maintained. Montreal infasturture is all falling apart and has on occations even killed people. Winnipeg replaces most older bidges and tore down buildings that have had dangerous hazards. Just yesterday in Montreal enginers discoved cracks in the greenline metro line. They have this problem do to decades of construction corruption. Winnipeg gets a bad rap for cold weather, but no one seems to mention just how hot it gets in summer, and that people flock to the many nearby beaches or city parks. While in Montreal it can also get to -40c in Winter, and rains so much in summer it might as well be Vancouver. The french don't make much effort to use other language, while the english speakers of Winnpgers will go out of their way to find someone who speaks your language. Montreal old port is for two things lawyers and tourists. While the exchage district is for collage students, arts, theaters, city hall, living and yes tourists. I lived in both cities back and forth over the past 20 years. I am BA of geograghy and attended both University of Manitoba and Concordia University. Personally I love hate both cites but the people in Montreal are much ruder. While Winnipeg has some very big social issuses. Montreal is less violent but has big organized crime problems. As for travels you are safe in either city.

True story. I bought a window unit air conditioner for our porch but I didn't get to use it until the THIRD SUMMER AFTER THAT, because the next two summers were cold and wet. There are good points to Winnipeg but I couldn't take the climate. The last straw was New year's eve, 2013/2014 when we made the news with the headline ... Winnipeg, colder than the surface of Mars. We moved to BC and now we get maybe 2 days a year where there's snow on the road, we traded minus 40 for plus 40 and never looked back. Winnipeg isn't for everyone.

But 39C...how often is that in the Canadian prairies? I'm talking normal summer air temperature readings, not "climate change/global warming temperatures."

​@@Religious_man winnipeger here. Sorta depends, we've had some summers that are almost unbearably hot at 35c+ for a week or so. We've also had summers that don't ever get past 25. Also when a Winnipeger talks about the weather, it's not small talk. It's an actual conversation
