I started my hair with bra strap length comb coils. And it quickly shrunk up to chin length. The shock and horror of it all was real. But the great thing was I was locked within two months. November will mark my two year loc anniversary. When I see your growth spurt I know mine is coming because I am only a few months behind you. Hooray for growth Spurts!!!

Wow, I thought I was alone, my hair was 13 inches and now its only 4 inches and some 6 inches. I was unhappy at first, but I later said to myself, my hair is all there, just not visible and all the strength are with me, so am happy. So help me Lord..

@@DeeDee-wy2bp Here's something you can try if you want -- when your hair's wet, clip a heavy bead onto the bottom of each of your locs and let them completely dry with the beads on. (I got my beads cheap on Amazon.) If they dry with a heavy bead, they stay looking longer. But be careful not to do sports with heavy beads -- I bashed my eye that way 😲😂

Hey lady, I love your videos. I started my locs 14 months ago with comb coils on a tapered cut. I had 3+ years of growth on top but the sides and back were short. You’re right, my short locs locd faster and my longer ones had more frizz. It was worth it though. My super frizzy stage is over...HALLELUJAH!

Thank you for this video. I started locs on long hair once and didn’t like how my hair bunched up in some of the locs while they were forming and caused me to have sort chunky locs and I took them out. I’m thinking of starting again with long hair, but I’m thinking of going braids to keep them from bunching up.

I started my locs with two strand twists as well, with some length. I am grateful for the length throughout the process and do not mind the frizz. I am concern about the parting and hope I do not have locs that pop off, but it's because I did them myself and do not know what to expect. I am excited to see them a few years down the line (I'm only 4 months in). Do you have any pointers on clipping your locs when your hair is long? I am scared I am clipping in the wrong spots and may be thinning my ends.
@loryndabenson58406 жыл бұрын
What do you mean clip your locs? Are you trimming the ends?
@DesireeMarie6 жыл бұрын
Hey love! Congrats on your 4 months! I completely understand your fear of thinning hair because of clips. My advice would be to limit your clipping (especially if it causes you to be alarmed). I used to clip my hair for the day and take it out later on but that is only because I was comfortable doing so. If you are ok with it try not to clip too tight and close to any locs that seem like they are a bit thinner. I hope that helps!

New to the channel and watching some of your older videos....yeah I started my locs on long hair. Some parts of my hair was mid back length and others a little shorter due to my hair being layered a few years ago and it has always grown uneven since. I just started my locs on Jan. 10th! So I am literally two weeks in and already experiencing a lot of the things you mentioned here. I had quite a bit of shrinkage after my hair dried after the install, and now I know my hair is going to shrink even more! Haha that’s okay though, like you said it’s apart of the process. I’m so used to long wild hair that it will be nice to rock a little frizzy bob or whatever for a while 😂😂

Look up "Dread Head HQ" online. I have a White friend and she gets her products and instructions on how to loc her hair on their website, and now she has beautiful locs. I'm part Japanese and my hair also locs differently than my Black or White friends hair does, so if you do get locs -- _watch them and see what they "like"._ Locs have a way of showing us how to care for them, if we watch how they react. Good luck! 😘
