Nice one Pete. Just catching up with your vlogs. Yeh, the price of sheet materials has soared; they’re ridicules. Apparently, I have heard that the warehouses are full, but there is a shortage of pallets in order to get them out to the wholesalers. Also, the price of timber from North America and Canada has sky-rocketed by 375% in the last year. I refuse to pay those prices, so Have slowed down a little on my fitout project, although I do have plenty to be carrying on with between work.

I'm a woman contractor in Delaware, USA. There's a shortage and major price increases in lumber and other building materials here. Lumber is short and going at 2 1/2 times what it was about 6 months ago. Electrical wiring, boxes, and most components aren't available. I've told my daughter and son-in-law to hold off on the house they want to build as lumber prices today will add $35,000 to the cost. Building material costs are quite insane right now.

You're getting there Peter. Eventually everything will fall into place, slowly, but surely. Many jobs come with a snag or two as you can see. Better to cross them now, rather than later. Saving time and expense, we all know you hate spending to much, and knowledge is best served today, than tomorrow. 👍 Don't forget about the shortage of delivery drivers too. That could be another snag in the pipeline on the reason for the shortage of stocks. Brexit indeed has a lot to do with it also.😉

Pete I assume your grinder when you bought it had a guard on it, did it fall off I suggest you put it back on. Also the sparks will go on the glass and scar them and have you checked all your fingers are there, use a push stick or have you mislaid the one that comes with the saw. I bet your arms are tired because while you were talking you were waving your arms about like you see those programs with someone using sign language, if you had your hands in your pockets would you be struck dumb ? Apart from the health and safety points which you should correct especially on camera , keep up the good work. Always a pleasure to watch

There is much debate as to whether saws are safer with or without guards - due to 'kick back'... I keep my hands right to the back of the table saw top (8-10" from the blade) - hence why I flip the timber the over to complete each cut...

There are huge debates on guards, with there being a strong case saying that more accidents happen with guards on than off. I had a incident with a table saw a few years and am now very careful. I don't push the wood all the way through the blade. i get to within about a foot of the blade, then flip the piece of wood over and come back from the other side.
