Best advise. I have back problem and had 2 surgeries, Now I am having a sciatica again and I didn't know what to do , I tried a lot of different exercise to help reduce the pain for the past 3 days. Now I realized that the more I do the bending back ward and stretching the back and legs the more pain that I have. Now I learned that I should have let it be alone to heal itself. Then I watched your clip , I agree with you 100%. Everything you said on that clip is true.I wished I that I watched your clip before I watched others and did a lot bending and stretching. Thank you for your advise. I am using ice pack now to reduce the swelling. Thanks millions.

My sciatica that has been torturing me for a month, started easing yesterday and today it's less than half of what it was last week. I quit all those stretches. Instead I choose to not worry. Live with it for now. Walk with a corrected posture (that gives me a natural curve on lumbar spine), and I ground a lot. I sleep on a grounded sheet. Every morning I meditate grounded too in the garden. These are WORKING!

Yes! Your bold honest approach is exactly what we need. 2 questions: Where do we apply the ice/cold pack? How do seniors or overweight people manage what is inflexible?
@PT4Everybody4 ай бұрын
Great questions! 1) Apply ice to the area that hurts. And, yes, you can use it to "chase" the pain. 2) If you are someone who has difficulty with flexibility doing some aquatic therapy or getting into a pool can be very helpful.

This is absolutely first class advice. I know this because I have had sciatic problems for many years and it flairs up from time to time and has done right now which is how I discovered your video! It is 3 days now since it started and I have been wearing heat pads over where the epicentre of the pain is which is around the piriformis, although it is going right down my left leg. Despite the temporary relief from the pads, I have been unable for 3 days to get out of bed in the morning. despite wearing the pads all night, without excruciating pain. (I have some mildish discomfort around the left hip all year round when getting out of bed.) Yesterday and today, however, by keeping moving gently, the pain has subsided as the day wore on and becomes manageable with a walking stick until of course the following morning. I also made the mistake of following NHS advice (here in the UK) to do the exercises which made things a whole lot worse. The problem I have is that at 75, I still run with my dog and cycle a lot up steep hills, neither of which are possible right now, nor is driving. Since what I have done previously has not worked, I shall follow your advice, which, in addition to the medical advice, makes sound common sense. Thank you.

This is great information and explained very well. I can walk with no pain and even stand for a while - my problem is sitting for any amount of time, even 10-15 minutes. My butt and hips really begin to hurt on the left side. I've done research on exercises to help with this, but it seems one PT says one thing and the next PT says the exact opposite re: exercises. I have mild scoliosis that has probably caused a herniated disc - not sure. No MRI yet because I know if I try to get one it's a big insurance hassle AND the dr will insist on surgery I'm sure. I've been going to a chiropractor, and it has helped for sure. This may just be something I have to learn to live with??? Thanks for your channel!
@PT4Everybody2 ай бұрын
I would ask your chiropractor if they think you have a pelvic malalignment issue. This might affect your sitting. And, hopefully, they can recommend a cushion or modification for your sitting that will ease your pain.
@66el2 күн бұрын
This is exactly what I’m going through. Sitting is horrible if I’m in the car or a straight chair. Usually, in less than a minute the nerve pain starts. Recently found out there is mild levoscoliosis from an X-ray. Got MRI, all 5 lumbar and s1 have varying degree bulging, spinal stenosis and other nerve impingement at faucet. I am really able just about everything but sit in butt. ** BTW, research self pay MRI, I got rather inexpensive due to an insurance issue.

Sciatica, either caused by lower back issues or piriformis weakness does not like high levels of sugar in your blood interfering with the healing process. Don’t you just get sick to death of the same bla-bla-bla. When your experiencing severe pain from your back, hip, or thigh, or all of the above simultaneously. And if you’re no novice to this situation. As sciatica has it’s own way of raising its bloody-ugly head from time to time. Our first determination through years of self-diagnosis is that it’s primarily caused by compression of our lumbar disc’s in our spine. Which theoretically pinches the sciatic nerve. Knowing what is obviously stating the bleeding obvious. And hearing it from someone who only knows the scientific theory behind the pain caused by the inflammation of this occurrence, doesn’t help either. And there was no mention anywhere about the long-term effects of injury. Or in my case the effects of being diagnosed with Tuberculosis as a teenager, which left my spine looking like the top of an old-desecrated castle’s long-gone battlement walls. Subjected to many wars and many years of weathering. And as ice-treatment, I find that the cold weather only assipate’s my condition?

certainly agree with NO stretching. It's been 6 days and I finally did stretching I found online to get the "immediate" relief. the day of stretching was by far the most painful day/night. pain was going all the way down my leg and my lower leg was going numb. now I have to try to relax and see if the inflammation goes away. great video. wish I saw this one first.

Sciatica or not hubby and I always use heat pad on our backs with some ibuprofen and it always works. The pain is usually gone the next day. I have L4/L5 anterolisthesis which causes pain and tingling in my right lower leg and foot. My low back is okay and aches occasionally when I’m overdoing with activities but the main problem is my leg pain when I get out of bed and step on the floor. I do stretches etc. and finally it may go away after an hour or so. Then I can function the rest of the day and even walk for 2-3 miles. If the pain comes back all I do is bend over touch my toes straighten up and then I’m good for another hour. The pain is bearable or sometimes isn’t even there but this whole ordeal is just so aggravating and depressing. I started PT but it makes it more painful. I try to stick with it and see how it goes. Thank you for this video.

What an excellent video, so happy I found you, I'll be listening to your entire playlist on sciatica. I've had 2 bad attacks of sciatica last 2 weeks. My situation is quite complicated, ad I have 16 pins and screws in my lower lumbar and thorasic spine fused, and the sciatic nerve runs through an artificial hip done 6 years ago. Luckily both bouts of the attack subsided by the next day but it was so debilitating that my entire leg went numb and I couldn't bear any weight on the effected side. I'm getting xrays on my hip tomorrow and see the surgeon who did the artificial hip next week. In the meantime your video has been spot on and I just know the playlist will be of help. Thank you!

Hello, I just finished watching this video as i am home from work due to severe sciatica pain. I've actually been living with this current episode for the past six weeks which seems to be the longest I've ever experienced sciatica. I've been functioning with it only because I've been taking massive amounts of ibuprofen... Which i hate doing, but it's been helping me to bear through. Recent liver and kidney tests showed they were good atm so I'll quit as soon as the pain dissipates. Here's my issues and my questions for you. I do have two lower bulging discs, diagnosed ten yrs ago (I am about 100 lbs overweight, I'm 61 yo). I also have osteoarthritis on my low spine, hip and knee, all on right side. Mild neuropathy. I do not have diabetes nor pre. All my tests actually came out normal - i am dealing with EXTREME inflammation, which i attribute 100% of my problems to. Exercise and low inflammatory diet was helping me lose weight and feel great actually until the sciatica showed up. The thing that kept me home from work however was NOT all this pain, but the CALF pain that just came on the scene! It's killer pain, every step is a firey hot poker right in my calf muscle, similar to a Charley horse from hell that CANNOT be massaged away. Dr suggested cortisone shot to help me get relief so i can continue exercising (and working) and getting on with lowering my inflammation. What's your thoughts on cortisone shots? He suggested knee and hip, I'm thinking lower back but that makes me nervous- close to the spine. My other question is, is rebounding ok to do with bulging discs?? It's supposed to be good for the lymphatic system but some things I've read say not to do if you have a herniated disc. I'm interested only in the gentle bouncing. I also do walk in place for exercise (before sciatica hit), just as an FYI. I think that's everything! I look forward to binging your video playlist today when I'm home. Thank you for your time!
@PT4EverybodyАй бұрын
I believe the cortisone injection will help to relieve the extreme calf pain. It will give you a break so you can go back to all the helpful things you have been doing! And, great job with all the things you have been doing! Rebounder can be great for lymphatics! I think using it gently (once the sciatica flare is over) is fine for older bulging discs. I don't like the rebounder for anything acute due to the heavy inflammation.
@aNewCreation2cor517Ай бұрын
@@PT4Everybody thank you so much for your suggestions, and encouragements. I think i will wait on the rebounder for now, at least until i can lose a significant amount of weigh so as not to put so much pressure on my joints and back. Thinking an elliptical will be less strain on my discs, but will continue with the indoor walking for now. Thank you again, i feel hopeful. 😊

I'm so glad I stumbled upon your video. I've been dealing with back issue's for many year's had a wonderful chiropractor that kept me pain free when we lived in the US and didn't believe in surgery or medication. She was big in the body being able to heal itself. Now I'm removed from her and in constant daily pain in the lower back, hips, radiating pain and numbness in thigh and after a MRI the doctor wants to perform a Radiofrequency Ablation for pain management. What are your thoughts on this procedure. I'm hesitant. I also treated my issue wrong with heat. So thank you so much for your video!
@PT4Everybody4 ай бұрын
I am so sorry that you are separated from your wonderful chiropractor. None of my patients have had Radiofrequency Ablation so I don't have direct experience but the concept behind the procedure makes sense to me. Since you know what a good chiropractor looks like, any chance you can find one near you? If not, the ablation might work for a bit to ease your symptoms. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!

Great question! For sciatica I love cardio exercise - do what you love that does not increase your symptoms. Weight lifting can be tough because you have to be super careful with your form and breathing if you have sciatica symptoms. I am encouraged that you found a trainer but sorry to hear about the results. Maybe try a different trainer who is experienced with people suffering form sciatica?

I have chronic sciatica and have been dealing with it for years. I had hip surgery about 5 years ago but don't think I had it before. Had x-rays on my back recently but was just told "sciatica ". I have not seen the radiologist's report because my regular dr ordered and I guess was sent to them. My question is my internist says I should go to therapy. I'm not sure it's the right thing. Right now I did a few things a couple of days ago with movements back and forth of wiping an area to dry it. As of today I can barely stand straight. Painful and I've been using heat, which you said no, but it does feel better. Also taking ibuprofen. My question is how do I find the cause of this terrible sciatica because I have not been told. Sorry for this long post but needing some relief. Thanks 😊

I'd like to hear more about the importance of minerals in healing these issues. Some of the most helpful things to me personally are very obscure. Like gold in helping with arthritis as a mineral in trace like amounts. This video was amazing and makes sense. I think its possible to have sciatica and hamstring and other issues at the same time. What you said here goes with my belief working years with seniors and back surgeries and fusions. Me personally I would never have one done. The lumbar seems to do ok for a while. The snip of a pinched nerve in lower back on very fit people by a great surgeon would be the only thing I'd consider. I always knew no one was getting better being in tow weeks and some people took that to a whole other level. Like never doing anything. Everything gets weaker then.

@ well that’s a professional answer and most welcome. I have a flattened lumbar spine and of course going up the chain my thoracic spine is flat and so is my neck. I have overactivation of quadratus lumborum. I have two herniated discs L5L4 and L5S1. I am 41 years old. I have a mild scoliosis is 20 degrees right thoracic and 10 degrees left lumbar. The herniated discs have flattened the spine further. I have done schroth method with not great results. How does one figure out if the scoliosis curves are fixed and stuck or shall we say structural?? I have been to chiro physio massages therapists reflexologists you name it and I have a fitness qualification but my health is deteriorating due to my flattened spine. Im trying to figure out if my muscles are just spasming to move the bulging discs away from spinal cord and perhaps no amount of exercise will solve my problem. My thoughts at this stage is to decompress my spine with fascia remodeling possibly done with assistance from the team known as functional patterns. Im honestly desperate and I have pain spasming and the need to click and release my spine all through the day and night. As a result I suffer from insomnia. I am a careworker and would love to hear your thoughts. My greatest thanks

Not sure if I have sciatica? I do have lower back pain on the left side. I learned to just not walk so fast, or anything that stresses that area. I flipped something over that was too heavy for me to handle. My posture was my legs then my back was parallel to the floor. I straightened up. I recently saw a video on the pain that I was suffering yesterday. What that guy said seemed to work
