My mom was at a huge business dinner many years ago and told me the Chinese clients where slurping, burping and generally being very noisy, which they explained as being a sign of appreciation for the food and compliments to the chef. I believed this for many years, but after seeing this video, i realized they were just really fucking rude

A bowl of rice is only mandatory in Southern China. Many provinces in the north (and especially North West) don’t even have rice as an option at local restaurants.
@dng2000Ай бұрын
That's true. It's still unfortunate that many people in the USA still think everybody in mainland China eats rice as their main food, not to mention that many people in the west used to think China is almost 100% Cantonese until they actually learn about China more accurately.
@iamsheepАй бұрын
@@dng2000 oh yeah when I heard people making fun of the Chinese language as a kid I was actually confused since that’s not how mandarin sounds. The first person in media to actually articulate the difference between Cantonese and mandarin that I saw was Russell Brand, a comedian. That is how little the West knows about China.

Thank you for making this video. It is still sad that many people in the USA still believe that there is no such thing as etiquette in any Chinese culture, to a point that they even despise using chopsticks when eating at Panda Express unless they're eating at a Korean, Japanese, or Vietnamese restaurant. I always wonder why.

Thanks! You have covered quite a few points I haven't found elsewhere. Really helpful! 謝謝你 😊😊 PS: some of your English accent was really good! I daren't even attempt Australian! 🤐🤐

Seating, serving and taking care of the bill etiquette are incredibly similar to the Italian one. So much different in countries like Germany or USA.

There is nothing worse than embarrassing yourself at a dinner party... even stepping on a landmine. How about embarrassing yourself at a dinner party by accidentally stepping on a landmine and getting shrapnel, blood and bone fragments all over the food?

I mean, you don't only eat rice in one meal. And there's a lot of things you can make or buy later if you get hungry. Not all people eat too much in a single meal.

Who are the china-chinese learning from.? What are their benchmarks.? I do half-a-point wrong in practically all-area.sss but i am not from china. not to be copied. Most people cannot pull-it-off. Self, is the crux of the matter. Not-genuine is funny. Get real. Be real. Be realistic.

@@burggerbig102 That's literally not true, though. Several viral outbreaks have happened in China because of people eating bats.
