Always practise answering questions from a "interview question" list you can find online, focusing on what you will bring to the table vs what the company will do for you. Prepare for questions to ask at the end of the interview, shows you are interested in the position. Good ones to ask is "What is the team like here" if its an office/team environment, or "What's the next step in the interviewing process", try to have three options in case they answer them during the interview. Make sure you understand the roll you are applying to, and how your skills and experience makes you a good fit for the roll, and make sure you've done some basic research on the company and why you would be a perfect fit for the company. It's always good to end by asking for the interviewer's business card (if you will be working for them directly), and if it's appropriate to follow up with an email a day after saying thank you for the opportunity, just to remind them of you as a prospect as they are making decisions and interviewing other people. Come early, but not so early that it's awkward waiting. I've been told to aim for 15 minutes early. Try not to fidget, or do things to take attention away from what you are saying (that includes what you are wearing). It's fine to bring talking points with you, I've used my resume. The interviewer sometimes asks for a copy of your resume, so bring 3 copies, one for you, one for them and one just in case. Bring a folder or portfolio to keep the resume's looking crisp. Just remember it's natural to feel nervous, I was talking to an HR rep for a major company who interviews people for high up positions and he said even the bigwigs get nervous before an interview, but just know that you wouldn't have the interview if they didn't think you belonged there, so to keep that in mind. Be confident and prepared.

One thing I learned just recently is if you are asked to wear a name tag, put it on the right side of your chest! That way, if you shake hands with someone (since most people shake right-handed), their eyes follow the line of your arm to your name.

tbh I just had 2 job interviews, wore leggings, plain t-shirts, a cardigan and vans and got both jobs. You don't have to go super formal if you're not going for like top of the line business job, as long as you can sell yourself as being professional. If you greet the interviewer properly, act appropriately and answer the questions how they want, you'll likely get the job in simple clothing as long as you're not looking like you rolled out of bed.

Can we please all get over bra straps? Do we really have to wear a strapless bra any time we want to wear something even a little bit sheer? Like silk? or anything white? I believe that nude bras/straps are a universal symbol for, "I've got boobs and they require support, but I'm trying not to rub it in your face, so let's all pretend that these straps are actually the same color as my skin and move on with our days." That being said, I will agree that a bra strap hanging off your shoulder is unprofessional. As is diving for your strap whenever you think no one can see you. This is why racer-backs and convertables exist.

There's such thing as leggings that aren't see through. Leggings are meant to be see through. What you're referring to is tights. which are see through and meant to be worn under things. Leggings are designed to be pants and are pants. Just like jeans are pants, so are leggings.

From a pro in my first "real" job (cubicle and everything) : nice shirt or blouse, maybe a blazer, nice slacks - NEVER JEANS, nice shoes, classy accessories. Make sure everything including yourself is clean and ironed if necessary. Don't over think it. Your outfit should enhance your intelligence and personality, not detract from it. Good luck!

What you said about leggings: I wish that went as common knowledge... About a month ago, I was sitting on a bench outside my appartment, waiting for a friend, when this couple walks by... I for one always cover up my butt with something, be it shorts, pants, skirts, whatever.. But I make sure not to disturb people around me, cause I treat people the way I want to be treated.. And I think I've rambled on for long enough, so I hope that you get the point: I never ment to offend anybody..

I think it's unprofessional to show your bra strap. Maybe if it's black or subtle it's ok but still try to contain it and not show it off completely

Ok but it's the same thing if a guy has his boxers half way out of his pants. It looks unprofessional, it's not offensive or anything but it usually shows you clean up well or are organized if you hide them.

Why do they think leggings and tights are the same thing? they're describing TIGHTS. tights are see through, tights are meant to be worn under things. Leggings are pants, leggings are not see through. Leggings are basically meant to be comfy pants. There is NOTHING wrong with wearing leggings. I've gotten hired wearing black leggings before. They ARE pants and there's litterally no arguing saying that they aren't because they're pants. Just like jeans are pants, so are leggings. ☺
