Peace, Maia. I appreciate that you don't do that thing where you create a aesthetic hierarchy. I feel like a proud auntie regarding sis who made her skirt from the cargo pants. Everyone had great style and I agree with Jess, I never really see things as out of style because people with style always know now to incorporate pieces that are authentic to their look. It's not always going to be on trend.

I think tabis are the marmite of fashion. (Never had marmite as I am not an Australian, but I know it's something people love or hate, and I think it's the same case with tabis.)

Looking into them from a Japanese historic footwear perspective definitely changed my feelings on them. But I think they can really make or break a look depending on the styling.

vegemite is more of an australian spread but nonetheless the analogy works - it needs to be consumed in the correct way

I don't really agree with that one person's statement about Shein. It's not okay people to buy from Shein and the 'problem' is not only problem for those who do so. I understand that it might be one of the options out there that someone can afford, but Shein and fast fashion in general affects a whole world, its environment, economical model and individuals as well
@fearghalmurelagaosullivan5296 Жыл бұрын
I partially agree but the thing is a lot of shame that some people who buy from Shein get is undeserved and kind of classist. People who buy from Shein get shamed for doing so, however when people buy from big fashion brands who are more expensive, they don't get shamed at all, even though many times their clothes are made in the same factories/cities, the only difference being the markup made on each product. I obviously disagree with fast fashion and Shein as a whole, and am disgusted by the tiktok Shein hauls by people who clearly can afford to buy sustainable fashion, but still, I don't think its fair to cut the working class out of the equation. Poor people deserve to be able to take part in fashion and not be shamed for it. I think as a society we need to stop these extreme trend cycles and educate and encourage people to buy second hand clothing and to repair the clothes they already have. Fast fashion isn't just Shein. These fashion girlies also have a lot to answer for. Research before you buy, and reflect before you judge.

@@fearghalmurelagaosullivan5296while I totally agree with this statement but there are other places for low class people to find trendy clothing at a cheap cost. I also think that the reason why everyone is shaming she in users in particular is because the information about its environmental impact is so red ally available and it feels like they are directly going against the people who don’t like Shein. It would be so much easier if companies were more open about their business practices
@KaTheMagician Жыл бұрын
Ok so lets just all start buying Marrine Serre then lmao (if we're talking sustainability at the highest level) anyway the problem is more people in general worldwide interested in fashion/clothing as a whole combined with instant information (internet) ...right now our species cares most about money people are rabid for fashion nowadays because it's so close to the laziest, easiest, most addictive modern dopamine hit social media it's eating the world and ozone layer lmao because WE are feeding it of course most people (don't even live to the standard of a poor american) so shien is extremely attractive hence their sudden excessive and gluttonous growth

And I mean the last girl at the end talking about ending fast fashion but is literally wearing trendy stockings from Amazon. Shein gets a bad rep and it should. So should Amazon and most brands. It’s just like if u can afford dolce u can afford to not have Amazon tights. Clothes are a necessity but let’s be honest fashion is a luxury- and if the cost of your luxury is slave labor I think u gotta reevaluate
