Last time I checked Daniel 8:14 says "......then shall the sanctuary be cleansed." It does not say that a cleansing will then begin. Remember verse 13 had the question and it was of the time period for the whole end of the trampling of the Sanctuary ( the temple in Jerusalem then in the future). So to answer " Well after two thousand and three hundred years, the Sanctuary will begin to be cleansed, does not answer the question, but leaves it hanging.
@mikhailhunter52776 ай бұрын
"Last time I checked Daniel 8:14 says "......then shall the sanctuary be cleansed." It does not say that a cleansing will then begin." It does if you read from verse 13 A question is asked which is basically how long will this last. And the answer is 2300 days, then the sanctuary shall be cleansed. So that can be understood as a cleansing began after the 2300 days had pass.
@thenowchurch64196 ай бұрын
@@mikhailhunter5277 With all due respect you have not comprehended my argument. I referenced verse 13 which was a question as to when the Sanctuary would no longer be trampled. So the answer would provide the date it would stop being trampled, that is vindicated or cleansed. The word cleansed there refers to a completed process. The SDA interpretation is that October 22nd 1844, the end of the 2300 "days" was the BEGINNING of an Investigative Judgement. The Investigative Judgement is the actual cleansing of the Sanctuary and it was not completed in 1844 but only just began. Therefore the question from verse 13 was never really answered. No one knows when the I.J. ends except God according to SDA doctrine. So do you see that the SDA interpretation is nonsensical?

@@thenowchurch6419 I apologize, I misunderstood your comment. What is the Rastafari view of this?
@thenowchurch64196 ай бұрын
@@mikhailhunter5277 Thank you for your reply. You are apparently a gracious brother showing the fruits of the Spirit. RasTafari does not have an official view on that prophecy but generally we see Emperor Haile Selassie I as a return of Christ as he gave up his carnal self to let the Spirit of Christ work through him. With that in mind we would see the 70 weeks as an accurate prophecy as to when Christ would first show up as the Messiah around the early years of the A.D. era. The 23 hundred evenings and mornings ( the daily sacrifices in the Temple) I personally see as literally days and refers to 1150 days which comes to 2300 evenings and mornings. That was fulfilled in the time of Antiochus Epiphanes who captured Jerusalem and defiled the Temple for that amount of time. The Jews celebrate to this day, the vindication that happened through the Maccabees at the end of the time. They call it Hanukkah. Peace and Blessings.

@Nuteena_Haystack Goodmorning morning nuteena, and greetings to u and your family. Am so glad you respond, and ask questions, you see, there's so many things one can say what regards to this 1844 scenario if they do not understand/ and have the right interpretation of the scriptures, first let me say this, we were told by the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah chapter 8 verse 20 ,TO the law which is the ten commandments and to the testimony which is the writings of the prophets, testimony both old and new testament, if they who teach and preach do not teach and preach concerning upholding law and prophets writings, it is because there is no light in them. If I write too long, is because I want to be clear. Have you ever taken the time to truthfully study these things that you add the rest don't hold to thus view,as u put it? Question, Doesn't the Bible says the time has come for judgment to begin at God's house? 1st Peter chapter 4 verse 17 didn't God said he will appoint a day, in which he will judge the earth? And so many more scriptures that speak of the judgment, Jesus himself tell us that he is coming with his reward to give unto the righteous. We do not have to maintain and defend any doctrine which is a lie, the truth can stand on its own naked, true Adventist doctrine is biblical, and I said true Adventist, am not talking about the false apostate fall away ones, that give up the truth as it is in Jesus. just ask us to explain and take time to listen and ask questions, any question that comes to your mind with regards to our doctrine can be answered with a thus saith the Lord and is biblical. You don't have to believe, but if it is true then your salvation depends on it, and you cannot say you don't hear, because the angels that bear records don't tell lies. Many fall away because of unbelief, they did not enter into his rest. At the time of the end the vision of Daniel must be understood. U just don't understand these things/ the scriptures, hence you don't not know the time you're living in, " and what must be" as the disciples aak Jesus.

I am a Christian and i have a lot of respect for SDA teaching and seriously considering SDA teaching on the Sabbath . that being said, I would take great pause with regard to replacement theology: the Gentile believers have been grafted into the Olive Tree; it is clear that God is using Israel in these last times. in 1948, the world saw a miracle no less significant and awe inspiring than the Exodus, yet, No One in the 19th century would have thot it possible. God accomplishes all He sets out to do fear of WW3 aside; that would not start until HE alone wills it! a remnant will be saved outta Israel and they will foresake their lamb sacrifices and recognize the One True Lamb sacrifice for sins. i mean this statement with all due respect.

The book of Daniel has several verses that state the end will come at the appointed time. It speaks of the time of the end, the appointed time of the end, the time of wrath. Paul writes in Acts, For He (the Father) has SET a day when He will judge the world with justice. Jesus also said to the apostles, “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father HAS SET by His own authority.” (Acts 1:7). Why does the Adventist Church teach Jesus will not return until the church is ready? I do not believe that is Biblical. Can you please comment?

"The Great Controversy" Page 326 "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy Holy City. . . . Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for Himself. . . . And He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease." The angel had been sent to Daniel for the express purpose of explaining to him the point which he had failed to understand in the vision of the eighth chapter, the statement relative to time--"unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed." After bidding Daniel "understand the matter, and consider the vision," the very first words of the angel are: "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy Holy City." The word here translated "determined" literally signifies "cut off." Seventy weeks, representing 490 years, are declared by the angel to be cut off, as specially pertaining to the Jews. But from what were they cut off? As the2300 days was the only period of time mentioned in chapter 8, it must be the period from which the seventy weeks were cut off; the seventy weeks must therefore be a part of the 2300 days, and the two periods must begin together. The seventy weeks were declared by the angel to date from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem. If the date of this commandment could be found, then the starting point for the great period of the 2300 days would be ascertained. In the seventh chapter of Ezra the decree is found. Verses 12-26. In its completest form it was issued by Artaxerxes, king of Persia, 457 B.C. But in Ezra 6:14 the house of the Lord at Jerusalem is said to have been built "according to the commandment ["decree," margin] of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia." These three kings, in originating, reaffirming, and completing the decree, brought it to the perfection required by the prophecy to mark the beginning of the 2300 years. Taking 457 B.C., the time when the decree was completed, as the date of the commandment, every specification of the prophecy concerning the seventy weeks was seen to have been fulfilled. "From the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks"--namely, sixty-nine weeks, or 483 years. The decree of Artaxerxes went into effect in the autumn of 457 B.C. From this date, 483 years extend to the autumn of A.D. 27. (See Appendix.) At that time this prophecy was fulfilled. The word "Messiah" signifies "the Anointed One." In the autumn of A.D. 27 Christ was baptized by John and received the anointing of the Spirit. The apostle Peter testifies that "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power." Acts 10:38. And the Saviour Himself declared: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor." Luke 4:18. After His baptism He went into Galilee, "preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled." Mark 1:14, 15. "And He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week." The "week" here brought to view is the last one of the seventy; it is the last seven years of the period allotted especially to the Jews. During this time, extending from A.D. 27 to A.D. 34, Christ, at first in person and afterward by His disciples, extended the gospel invitation especially to the Jews. As the apostles went forth with the good tidings of the kingdom, the Saviour's direction was: "Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Matthew 10:5, 6. "In the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease." In A.D. 31, three and a half years after His baptism, our Lord was crucified. With the great sacrifice offered upon Calvary, ended that system of offerings which for four thousand years had pointed forward to the Lamb of God. Type had met antitype, and all the sacrifices and oblations of the ceremonial system were there to cease. The seventy weeks, or 490 years, especially allotted to the Jews, ended, as we have seen, in A.D. 34. At that time, through the action of the Jewish Sanhedrin, the nation sealed its rejection of the gospel by the martyrdom of Stephen and the persecution of the followers of Christ. Then the message of salvation, no longer restricted to the chosen people, was given to the world. The disciples, forced by persecution to flee from Jerusalem, "went everywhere preaching the word." "Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them." Peter, divinely guided, opened the gospel to the centurion of Caesarea, the God-fearing Cornelius; and the ardent Paul, won to the faith of Christ, was commissioned to carry the glad tidings "far hence unto the Gentiles." Acts 8:4, 5; 22:21. Thus far every specification of the prophecies is strikingly fulfilled, and the beginning of the seventy weeks is fixed beyond question at 457 B.C., and their expiration in A.D. 34. From this data there is no difficulty in finding the termination of the 2300 days. The seventy weeks--490 days--having been cut off from the 2300, there were 1810 days remaining. After the end of 490 days, the 1810 days were still to be fulfilled. From A.D. 34, 1810 years extend to 1844. Consequently the 2300 days of Daniel 8:14 terminate in 1844. At the expiration of this great prophetic period, upon the testimony of the angel of God, "the sanctuary shall be cleansed." Thus the time of the cleansing of the sanctuary--which was almost universally believed to take place at the second advent-was definitely pointed out. Miller and his associates at first believed that the 2300 days would terminate in the spring of 1844, whereas the prophecy points to the autumn of that year. (See Appendix.) The misapprehension of this point brought disappointment and perplexity to those who had fixed upon the earlier date as the time of the Lord's coming. But this did not in the least affect the strength of the argument showing that the 2300 days terminated in the year 1844, and that the great event represented by the cleansing of the sanctuary must then take place.” [Citation: Prophetic Dates.--According to Jewish reckoning the fifth month (Ab) of the seventh year of Artaxerxes' reign was from July 23 to August 21, 457 B.C. After Ezra's arrival in Jerusalem in the autumn of the year, the decree of the king went into effect. For the certainty of the date 457 B.C. being the seventh year of Artaxerxes, see S. H. The title of this presentation is *"What on Earth Happened in 1844?"* Unless I missed it, nothing actually *happened on earth* but rather in the heavenly realm. This is an indicator of a real problem for their eschatological system. The Adventists are careful to use actual historical events in their Historicist Eschatological framework, but Suddenly they abandon the practice when it comes to the event of 1844 (the Sanctuary Doctrine). Did Roman Catholicism end on this date? did they lose power on this date, or perhaps have a change in command? Nope. So the Adventists have nothing that actually corresponds historically on this date to corroborate their interpretation. If we open the door to have some "spiritualized" event to have occurred in the invisible realm, then the SDA paradigm is left to mere speculation.

Pastor Doug, it does not matter what you believe, but it matters what is written! How about the temple of Ezekiel what is being detailed in chapter 40-44, and what has never been built yet? It is a great shortsightedness when one cannot even imagine a temple functioning in the Christian dispensation without the sacrificial system of animals. How about the type which was shown to Moses, the one installed in heaven? Is there any animal sacrifice being done there? Then why one assumes that, here on earth, there can be no temple perfectly functional even without sacrificing animals???

@@robertsandberg2246 my daughter breeds dogs. Doug Batchelor earned her anger when he said there would be no dogs in heaven. But in Isaiah 11:6-9. Many animals, including wolves, are mentioned as being with us in the paradise on the new earth. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shell lie down with the kid etc. There are animals so why would God exclude dogs? He wouldn't. Anyone who has loved a dog knows that they have ALL the same feelings that we have. They have love, loyalty, fear, sadness, excitement. God wants us to have life, and to have it more abundantly. He is not going to rob us of our best friend. Thank you for your reply and I hope to see you and Sally on that great day when Jesus returns. Hey, I'll bore you with a little story. I had been living in New Zealand for 33 years when I went back to England for a holiday. I visited my sister who was living in Scotland and one day we went for a walk by a canal. Maybe 70 yards away there was a couple with a black labrador. They were too far away to make out their faces, but the dog caught sight of me and galloped straight towards me. (If dogs can gallop.) Of course I bent down and made a fuss of it. You know what dogs are like when you have been out? The way they greet you when you come home? It was just like that. My sister, who is an atheist and thinks I am crazy for having my faith said "That dog knows you." I hope also that I meet that dog again in heaven. It was my warmest moment on that winter day in Scotland. My daughter insists there will be many more dogs than people in heaven. Much more deserving, she says. See you there......

@@robertsandberg2246 she's breeding bullmastiffs. I must admit that I was nervous about it when I first heard. I was expecting them to be aggressive and because they are so big and powerful I was worried about her safety, but it turns out that they are one of the most gentle dog breeds I have known. She also had a jack Russell and boy, that dog was trouble. I ended up taking him because he was always attacking the bullmastiffs. They are quite happy with not much exercise, they love apples and carrots but what they want most is to sit beside you and cuddle. They are not the sort of dog to have if you like a lot of exercise. They used to be known as the gamekeepers dog. They would corner and pin a poacher but not bite. Any breed of collie would be good to breed, very hardy and healthy, but you would have to be prepared for many walks, they have lots of energy. Do you live near an exercise area?

Hello pastor Dough Batchelor. I had to stop the video when you mention the Codex-Sinaiticus. I was hoping you’d shed some light on the errors on those manuscripts and how Wescott and Hort found those manuscripts in a waste basket in the Roman Catholic monastery. I’m not sure if you spoke highly of the Codex-Sinaiticus. It seemed that way to me but I’d like to ask and not assume. In my research on this subject I’ve found that those men did the devils work in trying to distort God’s word. I’d like to know what are your thoughts on this matter. May the peace and grace of Jesus Christ be with you dear pastor Dough Batchelor❤

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die". BUT, mercy said "I dont want to give them what they deserve. I don't want them to be cut off from Me. I love them despite all they have done/will do against Me. I want to give My children another chance. I want them to come home and live in My love again". And love said "Jesus, God's Son, came down as a Man, our representative, suffering every temptation, pain and struggle we have ever faced, yet without sin. He took all our sins (past/present/ even future) to the cross and then crucified EVERY ONE on our behalf. Justice was paid on the cross so that we can be free from Hell's punishment, experience Gods mercy of forgiveness of sin and live in His love. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (turn away from our sin and pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through Him (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to obey His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and ask Him to help us in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, or struggling or doubtful, simply be honest and tell Him that. He is not intimidated by ANY sin or struggle you are facing. ANY. He hears and will answer. If we pray for Him to come in, regardless of the condition, then He will. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. If you have any questions let me know xx
