I took flute in the 7th grade. For 3 months I never learned a single note well. I wanted to be like Ian Anderson ( Jethro Tull). My teacher threw me out. Told me I did NOT deserve to waste precious space ( he did that after he allowed me one moment of scholarly sloshing in my scales and first piece. There is no sheet of paper, anywhere, with THOSE notes scribbed on it. R Great sound to that instrument. Oh, I failed Recorder, too.

Hello there! 😀 so this 6 hole drone flute is in the key of C minor and is tuned to 440hrts It was made by Gene Eugene Ewing (Old coot flutes [e-mail] ) He ships worldwide but I understand wanting to get hands-on first. I'm not sure if there are any Native American style flutes in a store in your country but I would assume they would be, most likely under a world flute tag. Good luck! 🤣🤣 I feel ya! So many choices!! Most of the 6 hole flutes you will need to keep the 3rd down to keep it in the pentatonic tune. I personally use that hole often as I play but to start you can keep it closed off with tape or something until you get comfortable. G is a good key! Pretty common and not too much of a stretch for reaching the holes. Do you have a maker in mind? Otherwise I got a guy or two that I can get you in touch with 😃 shoot me an email at [e-mail] if you need anything else!

About 4 years with these flutes 😊 never had any music lessons nor have I taken the time to learn to read music...yet 🤣 These instruments would be a perfect start to a musical quest! I find them very intuitive and easy to play. I would just pick one up and start to play! There are a lot of great resources if you are a visual learner, off the top of my head www.jonnylipfordmusic.com has a ton of teaching aids and starter flutes for inexpensive prices.

But just letting your fingers dance across the notes and playing from the heart is a fantastic way to start. A good key to start withvwould be an A F or G. These are common keys and the finger spacing is good for most hands. The lower the key the bigger the flute (like low E C B )so if you might have some reach issues at first if you go that route (but I personally LOVE the low flutes)
