Checkoslovakia doesn't exist anymore... and Shlivovitz is Serbian word Šljivovica from Šljiva which means plum. There are two types of this brandy. Meka - which means Soft (~22.5% of alcohol ) and Prepecenica - lets translate it as Overfryed (45% vol). And yes you can make plum brandy anywhere but Šljivovica only in Serbia. Even Faith No More bass player imports it from Serbia to USA. Check out his Yebiga brand..

Its recognized by the EU from 2007 onwards as a Serbian brand, Šljivovica is serbian national drink, plums are serbian national fruit, and serbia is the 5th producer of plums in the WORLD, with fertile land just the size of new york. So when you drink šljivovica, or anglicised slivovitza, youshould drink a one from Serbia, namely the Žuta Osa ( Yellow Wasp), its exported to more than 50 countries , and i believe UK, Australia, north america are in those countries

In Bulgaria we call it Plum rakiya, or Grape rakiya, or Pear rakiya and so on and so forth. The Czechs and Slovaks name the rakiya based on the fruit. Slivovitz means plum rakiya. the Serbs call it Slivovitza as well by the way. At the beginning of the video, I thought that these guys were trying Serbian rakiya.
