Your honesty is wonderful and a delight to hear. A breath of fresh air one might say, but I feel that would be inappropriate given the video… 😅

The thing i enjoy most about you, Paul, (other than being a top notch British bloke) Is you're transparent, brutally honest, and you make a laugh out of what would otherwise be a frustrating situation. It's probably why I learn so much from you. Stay safe, Paul!

I like your honesty Paul. One of the problems with KZbin is the tendency to always show the fun and successful things, but in reality life throws us curveballs all the time, and we have to learn how to cope

I bought a cloud peak last year drove to thirlmere to camp harrop tarn, looked at the rain and thought i fancy putting the fire on so went home, i didnt even get out of the car😂. Sometimes you just know its not going to be a nice night. I didnt want my first night in a new tent to be a nightmare camp. Great videos paul.

I was filming a snowy winter camp in the woods last year. It didn't work out so I packed up and came home. After an hour drive I realized I left my new mic clipped to a tree and had to drive all the way back the next morning. Haha. Sorry you for got your food...lol

You're in good company - on a sea kayaking trip, my adventuring mate only found out that he had forgot his paddle when we were fully kitted up and about to push the kayaks into the surf!. Went all the way to the Swiss Alps and only found out on the mountain that we had left the tent poles behind! Ho hum!

That´s a very honest video. Occassionally there are videos where they forgot their cuttlery and/ or extra plates. But as the food is already cooked, a way to consumed it is found. It happens to the best of us that items are packed, put in a ready position and then forgotten. I added a bullet point "loaded into vehicle" to some of my check lists to reduce the odds of forgetting a checked pack.

At least you made it out of the house Paul😂 the last video I put up was terrible. I didn’t feel like recording. Maybe I shouldn’t have uploaded. I make it as far as my front door and then just change my mind about going anywhere. Love the honesty Paul at least you got a video out about it😂

I went to Higher Tor and Stanage in July 2023, parked at Upper Barbage Bridge. I guess the deluge driving up should given it away and maybe the waterfall running down the south edge of Stanage. I braved the wind and horizontal rain until the trig point, couched behind a rock to eat my chicken butties. The dog didn't seem keen. Then the lightening started playing across the great ridge with the weather headed our direction. I got down off the edge and trudged sodden by the road back to the car. The light was just fading as I rejoined the M1 at Chesterfield. So much for a night out wild camping.

There’s been many a time I’ve sat in that car before a hill walk in bad weather asking myself what I’m doing. I’m usually fine after about a half hour in.

That gives me hope . I drove for an hour today to Dartmoor only to realise I'd left my drone at a friend's (sheltered there over the weekend from the storm). Turned round, picked it up and got the shot I wanted 😊 . You still delivered some usual Messner views though Paul.

So many things we forget. Today I went for an 8 mile walk to keep my fitness up for the New Year hike, hadn't hiked (properly) in ages, and the walk was very puddly and muddy and I panicked because I hadn't thought about my shoes, walking shoes but very old, and there were some ankle high puddles, they survived but I could have ended up cold and wet, (especially if I had slipped 😮) and because it was sunny I had not taken any extra clothes. Luckily I wasn't far from civilisation, but it was a reminder. Even on nice days, go prepared. 😂
