I want to share my thoughts again. Interesting how IAF waited for Tejas to mature and had kept very high standards regarding what it expected from a new fighter jet. This made everyone work hard to get Tejas with all weapon systems and subsystems to upto international standards, and now in it's current mark1a form it has become a lethal platform. If IAF had ordered Tejas 10-15 years earlier we would have been sitting with 100 or more subpar jets like jf17 block 1 and 2. Every organisation involved faced so much criticism for the delay but it ultimately turned out to be right decision!

@@mth469yes you are right. I still think mk1 version can be improved further, especially conformal fuel tanks if they can pull it off. And then name the top end variant something like Tejas mk1x. It is an amazing testing and RnD platform for Indian ecosystem.
@kurroth Жыл бұрын
Nobody makes a perfect attempt at the first try. All relevant fighter jets have undergone several cycles of updates. Even the subpar TEJAS jets would have been good for the Indian defense industry as the Mk1 can be upgraded later. However, pushing the goalposts for TEJAS all the time has badly affected us. Hardly any country wants the Tejas whereas several operate the JF17. If we do not have faith on our product to form the backbone of our Air Force, why would any country do? Our enemies mock us for taking 40 years to build only 40 "subpar" Mk1 jets. Also, the need the buy foreign jets at exorbitant prices (Rafale) would have been less if we had been producing jets earlier.

With over 40+83+100 (proposed), IAF would have around 220+ Mk1/1A version which would form around 10-13 Sq. (based on how many fighters does IAF want per Sq. of Tejas- 18-22). Add to this another 6 Sq. of Tejas Mk2 (120+ jets) & we would have close to 18 Sq. of only Tejas which signify a delayed but greatly successful Tejas programme (Der aaye, Durust aaye). Expect all these 18 Sq. to be inducted by mid 2030s (2035-36). Not to forget, this would provide a huge boost to the export potential of Tejas because potential customers would see, if IAF being the 4th strongest airforce in the world, is showing faith & inducting over 18 Sq. of Tejas, they would know that this fighter has some potential & that would generate confidence. US, China, Russia, France have all employed this technique to build their aerospace industry. Ordering indigenous fighters in mass numbers & then getting export orders.

My opinion on this :- If we require 42 squadrons in the Indian Air Force we should maintain at-least 45 squadrons in IAF! Out of which the first 20 squadrons having 12 Aircrafts each let's say of Tejas Mark 1 and Tejas Mark 1A respectively (10 squadrons each) the next 10 squadrons should be of Tejas Mark 2 and Rafale having 24 Aircrafts each now the remaining 15 squadrons should be of AMCA having again 24 Aircrafts per squadron! This way we would not be dependent on just 1 type of Aircraft and this way we will have a variety of Aircrafts! AMCA should only be used in intense combat scenarios when the country is at a full scale war! And this should be implemented by 2035 at-max by then I'm assuming we will have all these types of Aircrafts available and by 2035 Indian economy would have reached around 10 Trillion USD so we can also maintain this fleet! (I'm not an expert and this is just a raw opinion i felt i should share)

@mth469 Жыл бұрын
Structural redesign, air intake expansion followed by redesign, testing and certification of the flight control laws. Then testing and certification of the entire aircraft for its performance envelope. That's basically what's being done for the MK2 and more. Its not a small job and takes a bunch of time and effort to do it right.

Get ready for something called manned as well as autonomous 6th gen force multiplier aircraft. The manned ones will be limited to around Mach 2.5 - 2.8. While the autonomous ones may touch Mach 3.5-4.5. These aircrafts will lead the deep penetration strikes on key enemy targets such as radars, missile sites, air base etc. At the same time, they will also take upon the role of air superiority/dominance. Apart from highly advanced multi-target tracking and engaging radars, these 6th gen fighter aircrafts will operate in a highly networked environment and will utilise live streamed data from dedicated satellites. These aircrafts will also incorporate advanced radar jamming and electronic evasive technology. Inevitably, these 6th gen fighters will be capable of high altitude, with the more advanced touching or exceeding 80,000 feet. In all probability, these fighter aircrafts will be using Ramjet engines. Crucial ground forces (scout/special forces/infantry/armoured vehicles) support would be left to armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV/drones) and attack helicopters. All this is fast coming up and will be the staple system of any advanced air force by 2032-35. Remember USA and China are both close to finalising their 6th gen platforms. Turkey and Korea have in the meantime launched their respective 5th gen stealth fighter jets. Japan will be doing so shortly. India's long time ally in this field, Russia, has fallen far behind. Against this backdrop, development of the Tejas platform to MkII or even a MkIII is simply too little and too late. Tejas simply will not offer the offence or defence capability to wage an aerial war over the himalayas. It can at the best be a chowkidaar over the skies bordering Pakistan. But then, at present as well as in the future, we need much much more than that.

Argentina wants MK1A - but British components have to be removed. Most notably the UK made Martin Baker ejection seat. India has offered a Russian ejection seat replacement, but will not go through the entire re-certification cycle for the projected 15 x aircraft order from Argentina.

As someone who has always hoped for a large number of Tejas to enter service with the Indian Airforce, the recent news of the procurement of 100 Tejas MK-1A couldn't make me any less happier though personally I felt that the Indian Airforce should have ordered only 50 more MK-1A, and after that only focused on giving large orders of MK-2 when that is ready, we need Tejas MK-2 more than anything right now. Where is AMCA? We need to induct those too in large numbers too when they come. So I think the total order book is like this: 40 Tejas MK1 83 tejas MK1A And now with 100 more MK-1A, we are total with 223 Tejas MK-1A/MK1. This is a huge number, great. Now on the part about MRFA, then I think the lnly solution is to order atleast 100 Rafales and finish up the deal, don't keep it pending for a long time.

IAF ko first Tejas mk1A 2024 Feb me milega aur tejas mk 2028 me aayega aur amca 2032 me isliye orders abhi se nahi de sakte

40+83+100 = 220+ which means 11 squadrons. 12 Su30 sq + 11 Mk1a Sq. 2 Rafale sq. Total 25 squadrons. All other fighters will be retired until 2035 So plenty of room for Tejas mk2 and Amca and ofcourse 5+ MRFA squadrons. We will have to go over 42 squadrons in future anyway.
@mth469 Жыл бұрын
I am certain that more MK1A will be purchased eventually than even what has been announced. This is because there are so many new additions and developments going on around the Tejas that are on their own improving the MK1 and MK1A functionally. The EW pod, the Astra MK2 / 3 integration, improvement in the AESA radar, a nose mount FLIR module... etc. It just keeps getting better unlike the Rafale which is static with few improvements beyond the date of purchase. If at all improvements are offered, they come at huge costs. The Tejas evolves, imported planes do not !
@james4807M Жыл бұрын
@@mth469Exactly. DRDO can constantly work on new subsystems instead of waiting for Foreign OEM to agree on integration of new Israeli equipment which has their own time and budget requirements.

Does LCA Tejas have the anti ship missile integrated? If yes, than which is??
@mth469 Жыл бұрын
Air launched Bhramos can be integrated as it has been with the Su-30MKI. But Tejas is not an ideal platform for it even though it can do it. The Su-30MKI with its heavier payload carrying capacity and longer range and faster speed is the right platform for anti-shipping operations.
@siddheshpanchal1143 Жыл бұрын
But still will there be some plans to integrate some missile in future? Because without anti ship missile Tejas can’t be complete fighter…
@mth469 Жыл бұрын
@@siddheshpanchal1143 Main role for Tejas is air to air battles, air patrol, interception and recon. Maritime strike is low on the list of requirements. There are aircraft better suited for that objective. For maritime strike, a large plane is needed with heavy payload carrying capacity, long range (since it has to stay over the ocean looking for targets for hours) and high speed. Tejas does not fit that profile. Su-30MKI and Rafale fits that profile. So I doubt IAF will want to spend its precious funds to have the Bhramos integrated onto the Tejas for anti-ship operations.
