Great Question on Overlanding, I think the length of time is the qualifier. OL seems a bit more than a week or so in duration which is slightly beyond my comfort level. I prefer a few days,perhaps 5 days/nts, for a super journey, e.g. Death Valley and that doesn't seem to qualify as Overlanding, but we may skip into a Motel mid-trip for a single day as just a touch of comfort. Overlanding seems more hardcore than I enjoy adventuring

From my older point of view, I’m 60 y/o, you’re far from my age, I learn a lot from you - and I love your attitude/insights/wisdom. You are way better than I was at your age. Thanks for showing me how I could have been at the same age. - Better late than never… ❤️

If you ever get to GUA and want a place to bunk I have two for you. One in GUA City and a second one / a vacation house with a pool 40 km away from the city / no charge - just as a friendly gift for a woman / you / that I find inspiring and amazing. I.e., (if accepted) it would be our my gift to you.

Thx for sharing. Stay cool - my Mom says it is scorching in Seattle, so BC must be cooking too. When you plan your Pan American travels, please consider stopping by Arizona for some colorful trips or follow my channel's new adventures for great suggestions - I am forging a new, shorter path through the world's longest and deepest slot canyon, Buckskin Gulch, to focus on the best photographic sections! Care to come to the Utah/AZ border for another adventure ? Scott

@@OverlandLady Oh yes, the natural colors of the Colorado Plateau simply gorgeous and photogenic. Perhaps you might consider attending the next Overland Expo held in Flagstaff, AZ. This is the center of the Colorado Plateau, where a lot of Cowboy films found the natural backdrop gorgeous. Just N of Flagstaff, i took this video of the Chinle Formation at Paria Canyon kzbin.info/www/bejne/nH7PdX5slNlneZY

@2:00 minutes. Your kind of overlanding isn’t mine. My kind of overlanding isn’t yours. - Both are overlanding, at our respective premises.

If you, alone, in a 4x4 and Noraly Schumacher / Itchy Boots / can do your versions of solo overlanding in a car and on a motorcycle we, a small family of three can do our version too. - My heartfelt that no’s to you, Monique, for bringing up the topic. ❤️

@3:00 - Agreed as well as disagreed. The journey is the purpose. Not the distance, not the final destination. But the journey is. That is what oberlanding is to me. Exploring/seeing places we would never see in/on an airplane. Overlanding is traveling slow in medium to hard terrain to explore a world never seen in an airplane. - That’s what it’s all about & I love it, traveling slow to see/watch/ and maybe learn about what I see.

My heartfelt thanks to you for sharing your thoughts. Because your thoughts resonate with mine, creating good memories for life for our 11 y/o son for life. - That’s the core/the essence for us as his parents. Create good memories for him. Our world is large - let’s travel & exploring it in a slow manner so we remember it.

It was a thrill to hear stories from overlander like your experience. When I was working as VSO volunteer I did meet some overlander in Malawi (Africa) famous budgeted lodging house mentioned in the Lonely Planet. Most common are those in 4 wheeled drive vehicle like Land Rover with camping equipment that stayed for overnight in the city. Most of them are friendly. But what fascinated me was Canadian guy who travel by bicycle. He also carried camping equiment. From Canada he cycle going all the way to South America. From Argentina he took flight to South Africa then going north to Egypt. He pass by Malawi were I meet him and heard his amazing stories. He said he want a record of going around the world on a bicycle. He did mentioned ahead of him was a Japanese travelling on bicycle, too.

Totally agree with you on what true overlanding is. However, I’m the weekend/vacation version of it - still considering myself an overlander. Because it’s the trip that’s important. Discovering places we would never see when fyi g or taking the main roads that is our goal. Some months ago I made a 7.5 hour drive in Guatemala over 5 mountains that I didn’t even dream of when I started. It was a memory for life! No I don’t camp in tents, nor do I cook from my car, because I’ve been there done that - and today I’m too old for it. Yet I consider myself an overlander. Keep up your unique personality, among all the others your view is refreshing for an old bloke like me. I learn from you!

I looove your pencil holder. So imaginative. Overlanding is a good universal name for 4wd touring. Still a relatively new term here in Australia.
@fabulousoffroaddesigns50802 жыл бұрын
Touring is inside Australia (your home country). Overlanding is world travel, or touring outside your home country.
